  1. This. Even now I haven't seen anyone tear away as regularly on one of those runs since he left. I nearly coughed up my cornflakes when I read this earlier today: Silvestre in shock move to Arsenal Leaving aside the nagging doubt about why Ferguson is happy to let him go, this might actually be the best thing to happen to Gallas
  2. If the person is intolerant to dairy produce and they stopped consuming them, resulting in skin condition improving - then that is medicine. Medicine is only that which works - there is no "alternative" or "conventional". Conventional medicine changes all the time to include latest knowledge - it is never a closed book It sounds like the GP in question mis-diagnosed or didn't have sufficient time to deal with the patient - that's a compentence or resource issue however. Now if the doctor claimed there is NO SUCH THING as dairy intolerance, that might be a different story. As has been suggested on here before, a bit more times and attention from our "carers/healers" is probably more beneficial than anything else
  3. If you live on one of the busiest South London thoroughfares and are bothered by noise then surely the plan is to move away from the main drag and not shut everything down Eater81?
  4. Urban do good ers. . They will be after up badger baiters next.
  5. gotta love that faux-surprise there....
  6. Re: Fox Hunting See that's where I draw the line. I'm no saboteur but there is a surely a difference between having to kill pests and having waaaaaay to much fun doing it. I have never sat up all night with a bunch of mates and a crate of beers all for the sake of a mouse-hunt. Or have I just talked myself into doing that very thing!??
  7. That 'orrible Dancing in the Streets thing was the compromise after a proposed trans-atlantic duet was mooted and ruled out for Live Aid. I know it was all done within 12 hours or something but still * shudders * good call on Absolute Beginners Jah - great song (same band as the Dancing in the Streets thing as well)
  8. Tis indeed Beth, a nightmare - I hope I wasn't sounding unsympathetic. At time of writing I haven't been affected (touch wood again) but it would definitely be a major hassle for me
  9. And I posted too quickly (and sharply!) - sorry You are correct he did - but I still think a pub nearer the restaurant is a better idea - but will go with the flow
  10. EDT? Wouldn't it make more sense to meet in Franklins or Liqourice?
  11. cheers keef - but on reflection... maybe it was a bit lame and I was just attention seeking
  12. Beth Are you sure the station itself is taking money from your card? Or do you suspect the card was cloned there and money is being taken from it elsewhere. Many people seem to be assuming that the (high volume!) locations mentioned are "in" on this when that isn't nevessarily the case. They are more likely targeted because of the number of customers and then the criminals move on to somewhere else
  13. fair enough - I haven't bothered with it much myself - it just came to mind when I read that article today. But still....
  14. How many have we confirmed now? Lady Mac looks to be in as well Any first-timers coming along?
  15. I'm less interested in that fact Tony than I am by your ongoing obsession with the whole thing
  16. I'm no fan of Terry or Ferdinand but if I was the sort of lazy-ass English player who needed a captain to motivate me then I would probably go for Terry - he does seem more visibly "bothered" by below-par performances. (Mind you so does Gallas @ Arsenal and he just seems to annoy everyone else...) Not sure about keepers being Captain, but James' columns in The Observer every fortnight show a depth missing from most other footballers
  17. your posts become harder and harder to read Tony - space out the different sources at least. Please. Pretty Please! And finding narrow minded bigots on ANY forum and citing them as "proof" of anything is no way to win an argument either
  18. maybe CrystalClear has gotten over his fear of boozin?
  19. One doesn't have to be "let's all be friends and never have any differences" to wonder why things have to become so polarised Madworld - you posted quite a moving story about an experience I wouldn't like to go through. I often watch fox cubs play in the back of the house from the upstairs window and they can look cute so I'm not completely at odds with you That said - the world (by which I mean nature - not just man-made world) is infinitely vicious. By the time we get to lunch today millions of creatures will have perished through climate, predators or hunger. We have to have some steel just to get through the day. And much as I can look at foxes and think "ahh bless" - a "much loved" British cretaure they ain't. They are growing in numbers in urban areas and are ever-more bold and brazen. Basically, vermin. Disease ridden vermin. The points being made against you are possibly a little cold but no less true for that - we need to control the population of mice, rats, foxes etc. You seem on-board with some of these creatures but not others so it seems fair to ask "what's the difference?"
  20. Tony - maybe some clues here? Why are Caribbean sprinters so good? If the father of Usain Bolt, who smashed the 100m world record in winning gold on Sunday, is to believed, it's because of the local food speciailites. "It is definitely the Trelawny yam," Wellesley Bolt said by way of explanation after his son's success. Backing him up, the women's 100m winner Shelly-Ann Fraser said of the Jamaican clean sweep: "A lot of yam, banana and dumplings produce top three!" Six of the eight starters in the men's 100m final, and the first two across the line, were from the Caribbean; all three medallists in the women's event were from Jamaica. The region's proximity to the US helps - the best athletes are spotted and offered scholarships to top colleges there, where there is excellent coaching. But it is also becoming more common for some to stay in the Caribbean, with the sport massively popular and standards of coaching and facilities growing rapidly. Some say that the Caribbean's traditionally strict upbringing instils a sense of the required discipline - Jamaican Asafa Powell, former world-record holder, is the son of two pastors, and says that his focus is down to his childhood: "I couldn't miss one day in church and my mom and dad still call to see if I'm going to church." Running is big in the Caribbean; the weather is good; and sprint champions are revered. But the main reason for Jamaicans' success, according to Fitz Coleman, a technical coach on Bolt's team, is the attitude. "We genuinely believe that we'll conquer," he says. "It's a mindset. We're small and we're poor, but we believe in ourselves." SB from this article: Olympic questions
  21. Indeed Moos - it's always a Good Thing when local businesses engage I reckon. The Herne is a leeetle bit out of my way compared to other pubs but I still like to pop in there from time to time. I have experienced delays in food as well to be honest but the food itself has always been spot on Can't comment on the ladies loo but the men's is fine - charmingly old-school if I was in the right mood (although I know some ladies can be more particular about these things which is fair enough) Several bars in the area can smell of bleach early in the shift in my experience - it's not unique to the Herne that's for sure. PLus it was a great forum drinks night there a couple of months back
  22. looked like a good post to me espelli !
  23. Wednesday darling, Wednesay....
  24. I've currently got a 3 person backlog for series 1 - I know exactly how you feel Keef
  25. Having been to the Roxy Bar in Borough High St yesterday, THAT is the kind of place I would like to see http://www.roxybarandscreen.com/private.php?gallery=19 Laid back, with good food and a large screen for occassional films
