  1. Again tho jimmy you couch the argument about how the food affects you. forget heath. . Is there anything in the production of fast food that would make you think twice ? Anything at all . . .
  2. and the lunch in Hisar's Mangal is both cheap and v tasty too - I agree!
  3. sbz - don't go away - just show you have more to say than bigging up one single place (no matter how good!) Positivity such as yours is rare, spread it around ;-)
  4. As the sun seems to want to hang around today, I'm going to stop off in the beer garden at the Rye for one on the way home if anyone else fancies doing the same
  5. Hmmm - so the other recommendations just happen to be in other post-codes SBZ - you're busted - best not carry on in case you harm the reputation of PC rather than harm it I'd say BJL - I know which one you mean - Cod is love indeed
  6. It's quite possible to be both ravishing and hungry BB - they were just admiring your self-confidence
  7. It's essentially retarded on every level Apart from adopting the discredited pyramid format ("If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... " etc etc it's wilfully narrow-sighted "they" have apparently "conditioned us".... Whatever Look it - apart from the fact that this country uses fuel duty to keep other taxes down (other countries with lower fuel duties have higher taxation in other areas - who knew!) I just cannot believe that as a people, as a species, we have had warnings about fuel shortages for decades and when faced with the distinct possibility that, rather than talk, this might actually be happening, idiots like this send weird emails out blaming "big companies" or "the government" Yes, prices are manipulated to varying degrees in different countries - but the message remains consistent - oil is far from an infinite resource. If there was, for a FACT, 1 barrel of crude oil left in the WHOLE planet, someone somewhere would still say "well, I need to drive to work" Time would be better spent adapating to a lack of oil, or finding replacements. Yes many people do need a car and yes many people do nee dto drive to work and yes global food supplies rely on transportation. But it's not beyond our ken to rethink a lot of that is it? Of course the email maybe generated by a computer as a joke.....
  8. second Pistachio club shout-out from someone who has posted... just twice sbz - can I ask what your top 5 curry houses in the area would be?
  9. September?? Play.com have region 1 down for 12 August
  10. but no-one actually likes Ziggy. Do they?
  11. presumably you want talk about it, rather than compile a list of names mightyroar? Series 2 is the bovril series. It was such a shift away from series one, some people never got it. It took me longer. But it might be one of the best on reflection. The Greek scared me Frank was a great character McNulty annoyed the hell out of Rawls was genius
  12. Michale K Williams is also a legend for appearing in Everytime I see that show I just go... wow. Someone cape up with this and got given a green light....
  13. solyent green.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Jimmy you make a good point - but if the only factors to consider are price and taste. I mean there must be a reason something costs that little right?
  14. I see VBC has progressed quickly to the "starting own threads" symptom.... My dad, a very intelligent and decent guy, always had a thing about the word stupidity - he always said "stupility" he was also quick to anger - so perhaps, in hindsight, when he was telling off his firstborn - then 14 - for being lazy, ignorant and thick (all me all true) and he finished with a flourish about something I did being the "height of stupility" it wasn't the BEST time to correct him
  15. "In terms of" "So, in terms of this Friday's meeting, where is it being held?" What's wrong with "Where is Friday's meeting?" It's just one of those phrases that people use in the wrong place all the time Petulism - that's another word I really dislike!
  16. It's an affectionate tease - why be either?
  17. of course it won't be a proper ED pub crawl without Inside 72 *sniff*
  18. HonaloochieB - I may turn for you! I've long held that opinion - I almost try to hard to like them. But the songs...just aren't there.
  19. Neecheecat Just McDonalds or any of the fast food places? And to just call them evil without backing up the statement is a bit of an easy and tired pot-shot isn't it? (although I'm probably on your side in the argument you understand ;-) ) PS great name by the way
  20. I sure did - gawblessyoumaaam for being so predictable ;-) And the Bishop did win the best pub awards on this forum recently so I don't think you are that out on your own Strawbs. The thing is I know exactly what keef is talking about and sometimes I feel the same way too but I have had some cracking times in there as well. But it can be well lairy on a Fri or Sat night and I tend to avoid Also I was minding my own business in the window seats recently and one of the manager guys saw me eating the new-fangled crisps they have in there and asked me what I thought of the cheese and onion versions. I said I hadn't seen those and he gave me fresh batch gratis - I mean it wasn't random, he knows I spend money in there but it was still a nice touch. And at Bishop prices that was nearly worth another ?50 ;-) As for Liqourish - I am partial to their pancakes, syrup and fruit brunch when I have a hangover. They also do a "Players" breakfast, on the menu, which consists of black coffee, a cigarette and a whisky I believe....
  21. if you avoid late night at weekends Bishop is fine. Ditto Liqourish Ok - still not very "pubby" but the vibe is generally ok. And they both manage to be quieter than EDT. I met some people there on Sun night and the volume of noise is unbelievable. I know it's the stone floors and I wouldn't want to see them go but it's deafening in there. I still love the place ...
  22. Yep - doesn't sound like G&F to me carmel And PGC is right - if any shop does sell faulty goods then legally they are obliged to replace them - stroppily or not Anywhere you would recommend for good service carmel?
  23. Well, that Holland v Italy match was almost worth having a tournament for on it's own. Anyone else catch it?
  24. I am.... now going to check Michael Palaeologus's freezer for frozen body parts.... (did I miss/forget the turkey reference?)
  25. wise counci. especially from one who rails at being told what to do ;-)
