  4. I'm not sure what stage we reached on this one but the latest stage is: Having other forumites, who's existince you were blissfully unaware of just a few months ago, persuade you to take part in the ED Road Run - despite knowing for a fact you will be violently ill

  8. the "my.... my book" thing came into my head because it's from some film - but I can't remember which one.. And I think we are both glad bon3yard ;-)

I knew you would say that Now - if only you do be a big favour and [insert correct answer here] tonight I'll be made ;-) Everyone else: I held my hands up on the petulance thing so please - unless you want to see it in action - move on! (ask Lady MacGabgann - she'll tell you it's not a pretty sight)
  13. Seven years in the area, and not once came close to any trouble in the pubs The old Goose and Granite/Plough was always the most likely for a bit of aggro - but the "new" Plough is a world away from that and is one of my favourite pubs in ED now

  20. indeed if one googles "petulism" the first entry is... me on the eastdulwichforum! Glad to see someone else on somewhere called forumopolis got into the same pickle Good point about the Vale charging entry for latecomers - has anyone spoken to them about that?
  21. indeed Mockney indeed - but is there anyone, anywhere who could get elected that would?
  22. I'm inclined to pessimism - but this time I have a hunch that America is more like UK in '97 (hopefully with a better 10 years therafter) Logically, I'm inclined to agree with you gerry - but something tells me that it's not the dream ticket that some people are painting. The people who are voting for meaningful change with Obama want just that - meaningful change. It's hard to imagine that happening if he is dependant on Clinton to get elected. Better to stand on his own merit and lose (which I don't think he will) I'm happy to start a book with ???? on this one too
  23. Have to say "no" to Hilary as the running mate. I get the feeling that she will hang around anyway and will never go away but given leverage to promote herself, she will - at Obama's expense jumpinjackflash - when the articles say "is the country ready for.." the question is - if it was a white male running against McCain the odds of a Democratic victory shorten. There are pockets - in many countries - which don't take kindly to giving power to anybody other than white males. Sadly, you won't have to dig very deep to find some democrats change sides, because they now have a black candidate.
  24. way to undermine a point MacGabhann.. thank you SO much everyone :-$
