  1. Which, frankly, is 500 post closer than most sane people, young Dame Moos Although Carnell has the bit between his teeth
  2. PollyD isn't officialy missing but has been veeeeery quiet for a while now
  3. oooh ratty I'm going to have to say "whoaahhh" "not cheap" wine I'll grant you but is it overpriced? If it's the same stuff that Threshers sells for 3 for a tenner then yes it is but if it's just good wine, that's different Can't say the staff are always friendly but I can't say that about anywhere. I went to the Rye on Sat for first time in yonks (yes just after I saw you in the Plough -ahem) and the staff treated me like a long lost friend me = a fan of the Rye
  4. you say "yet".... I tried to bust it before he was elected... n'er mind eh? I sometimes still hop in the 15 service to and from Tower Bridge to go between offices - I was (and am) a fan of them but I am reconciled to the idea now - times move on and the bendies do have some advantages (and yes some disadvantages too) But the truth is if both Ken (originally pro) and now Boris (also pro) can't find a way to keep them or bring them back, one would imagine it was a pretty compelling reason why
  5. surely everyone knew this was never going to happen?
  6. Welcome to the area and forum Oz Only pub I know with a fire is the Dulwich Woodhouse - which is on the Sydenham side of the woods
  7. technically cheating MM but any discussion on THAT experiment should be confined to the relevant thread methinks - look forward to seeing you Friday (although I fully intent to take you up on the drink offer, it shan't be a Guinness - heavens no. I may dress that way sometimes but never touch the stuff)
  8. bit defensive isn't it lucyl - I always find allusions to a "club" hilarious - whassit look like?
  9. well, if PeckhamGateCrasher and Mike Paeleantologist stop flirting with each other on the tackle thread it might fade into obscurity....
  10. I stilllook on course for this one - missing two in a row?? unthinkable
  11. Drinking And Talking Lots of both Some of the talking is regretted the next day ;-) This time, as it's at the Vale, I believe more than a few people are looking to "cut a rug" at some point but I'm not sure what the music is like on Friday's there. Usually get 2-5 first timers show up at each drink so you shouldn't feel exposed. With any luck the weather will improve and we can sit outside in the back garden
  12. double ooh - I was there when you arrived ratty and saw they hadn't cordoned off the whole of the left hand side of the pub - I did the right thing and moved to the other side of the pub. Didn't realise it was you tho
  13. Sorry to hear about it keef. So very annoying when that happens. I cant help tho. . . Sorry
  14. I don't think anyone is saying the situations needs to be tolerated KidKruger - just that to improve the situation there are right and wrong ways to go about it
  15. As for the problem itself - if the council and police "know" about the situation, does anybody have any record as to what steps have been taken - ie what was the councils's official reply. What was the police' official reply? Has anyone got these or are all of the exchanges heresay? Taking a stance of "why are they allowed to get away with x while we law-abiding (yeah right - every single one of us is a lawbreaker) tax-payers have to put up with it" is just unhelpful. If complaints have been made and are upheld then due process will sort it out.
  16. rather than bang on about free speech and PC, people might be better of reading the forum's terms of use relevant section quoted: "Having said that, please don't post anything that you know is wrong, by all means, for example if you have had a bad experience with a local company or service, please tell us all about it, but do not post anything which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening or illegal. If you post something on here you are liable for its consequences. Postings should where possible be based on fact, made in good faith, published without malice and of interest to East Dulwich. "
  17. what has PC got to do with anything???
  18. "freedom of speech" - that poor, much-maligned and mis-used expression - it gets all the attention whilst it's runt of a cousin - "incitement to public disorder" - is left languishing on the shelf "I am so outraged by some people breaking the law I'm going to.... break the law" genius
  19. I'd love to see more posts like this from Louisa - made me chuckle anyway
  20. * has a quick look * 5035 plays 5055 hmmmmmm - I clearly haven't cut back as much as I had promised
  21. I'm guilty of getting the balance wrong - Mockney Piers and Fear n'Boozin had the misfortune to first try my chili just weeks after a box arrived from chilipepperpete - so enthused was I by the variety I used about 5 different kinds of chili in the paste and ended up making something that was close to inedible Take 2 was just last week and I was so keen to not repeat the mistake that I ended up too far the other way and had something close to stewed mince with no kick at all I blame big game nerves
  22. I hope you meant "nasty" rather than "tasty", young man!
  23. Because paying one's council tax doesn't given anyone a right to use "force" to intimidate anyone else
  24. What the devil is happening around here lately - even the title of this thread bugs me. Anti-social they may be, and I've passed them enough times to judge. But that doesn't entitle anyone to start playing the vigilante card or even calling names. If people are going to start acting "superior" it would be preferable if they behaved similarly
