  1. indeed there was shoshntosh.. in fact..... here it is - Spinal Tap
  2. Lizzy, you're a JRPG fan aren't you - I've read some good reviews for this one for the DS and will be checking it out but this review made me howl The World Ends With You
  3. indeed ???? - if I don't do my bit to keep them in business they might be turned into betting shops! :)-D
  4. to back Louisa up slightly you would be amazed at how little most people get paid if you take the country as a whole My friends and family in Devon get dreadful money - often single figures
  5. No idea Jamma re: The Vale, but I know that the music quiz at the George Canning was fiendish (is that quiz still going btw? It was always teetering on the edge of not happening but good fun nevertheless)
  6. * was with dave_carnell at the time * * but on way home was waylaid by someone else's offer of whiskey * * so am officially in more pain than DC *
  7. whilst I can't say I've seen it open or am likely to buy anything there, what I've seen of the front as I come down NCR I quite like - looks nicely boudoirish
  8. he's not going away anytime soon Our Tone my favourite bit is: "But he adds: "The worst thing in politics is when you're so scared of losing support that you don't do what you think is the right thing. What faith can do is not tell you what is right but give you the strength to do it." You see, in my book, when you've lost support, it could just be because you are wrong and your time would better be spent reflecting on how to get out of the mess.. but apparantly it's better to turn to your invisible friend and find a way to plough on regardless ...
  9. and to think I misread this thread as "good lovin' "
  10. do you know, I can't remember if I've dissed Clapham or not. I don't really have any beef with the place at all. I don't go there that often but always have a fine time when I do. Having a dig is just a kind of auto-response now isn't it? Anyway it takes about 6 minutes to get to Clapham from Denmark Hill train station, with the Picture House cinema just down the road from the station

    Chavwivalawdegree Azul where are ye??
  12. coming back from town on Tuesday night, girl behind me on the 176 spent the whole journey on her mobile "reviewing" the film but with a vocab of about 6 words, re-arranged in various patterns. Painful it was I loved the Indy films but had no desire to see the 4th. The tone of the reviews seemed to back that up. Not that I always agree with reviews but even if you consistently disagree with a reviewer it gives a good indicaton of wether you will like it or not. Plus there seemed to be a rare consensus on this one Plus, the whole whip-crackin', adventurin', jokin', thing has been done many times since the original films. And even better in the original Tomb Raider game
  13. Is that the barman with the beard and often wearing bandana? Top bloke he is.. I must check out the Plough quiz... it is my local after all
  14. if it's wine bars you are after I'm duty bound to point you in the direction of Green & Blue - although I wouldn't say it conforms to clich?d wine-bar atmos. And that's a good thing There is also a new wine bar opening shortly on LL - but as it is taking over from the mighty Inside 72 bar, it will have to go some. It's the place with al the newspapers in the window opposite the video shop
  15. de drink I had a few at Lucky 7s at the Gowlett last night and I'm feeling it today
  16. indeed muffintop - same here. If ever work firewalls do cotton on to this place, expect 3G and web-enabled phone sales to rocket. oh and welcome btw - I know you introduced yourself on another thread but I never got around to posting a reply
  17. Part of my rationale behind walking from E&C to wherever work is, is that it makes the journey time much more reliable. Wally Rd can be bad but Plough to E&C is fairly reliable - Borough High st is often ok too but London Bridge and beyond brings out the screaming-nutter in me I've even noticed a few workers from my office at the PLough bus-stop now (although one of them tells people at work she lives in the Village - ha - sounds like the sort of person to prove Louisa right)
  18. muffintop - you misunderstand - if you live ina dump you are keeping it real!! Never aspire to anything else, for fear of abandoning your roots and joining the hi-falutin "middle classes" (these are obviously not my views you understand - just paraphrasing) oh look it - yesterday was enteraining in it's way but when I saw the post this morning I just thought "what's the point" - no amount of people from all walks of life arguing quite sensible points will ever penetrate Louisa's world view so I'm just not going to bovver the sad fact of it is that sometimes Louisa has a point - but it gets buried in a russian-doll like sweeping generalisation. Sometimes people DO disappear up their own arse. Some people do live in a state of denial. But she undermines EVERYTHING with the way she then assigns those characteristics to people who shop on NCR. Or people who have moved to ED. ANd to accuse people on here of having blinkers on beggars belief. I would give my right hand for some of the experiences I have read about on here. It's a pretty broad spectrum. I've packed a fair amount into my 20 years in the UK as well Oh dang it - now I've been sucked into the argument again! Right.. time for a mini-flounce
  19. * panic* as I think the bump means it's tonight * relief * as I realise I have a week to "prepare"
  20. 50 minutes on the 63 to Clerkenwell should be easily possible - prob not after 8am to be fair but I've done it regularly (umm good to see you back on here as well hibbs)
  21. why am I reminded of the film "In Bruges"...
  22. CambyOz - please tell me you haven't beeen waiting for an invitation! Just come along!
  23. I think Cassius has nailed the very essence of what makes this forum great!
  24. So there is a country somewhere on the world where a smallish proportion of it's population aren't emigrating???? OOOH do tell me where!!!! If the UK does take a nosedive it will be because it alienated itself from all of it's neighbours and trading partners Ireland is an even smaller island with less natural resources and it will be fine.. just fine..
