  1. that walk from London Bridge to Jubilee Line is a long lonng way from being "ALOT quicker" IMO of course
  2. Annasfield I do the same with gig tickets when I have spares - sell them on at cost to someone else who wants them, not tout them. Good on you (that's a drink bought in the Castle pre CPT on Friday!)
  3. the photo-shopped Rye lane pictures were some of the funniest things I saw this week - great stuff Macclesfield eh? Bit of a move that one (oops that's not really bringing things back on topic)
  4. Oglandia Amazingly enough, I don't go looking for whinge threads. I've been surfing THIS public discussion board for over a year and do so largely because of the number of intelligent people on here and the amusement that they generate. It's possibly true that a trend over the last year is for more people to whinge but there is certainly no reason why a debate on parking etc has to be " a whinge thread" - it could be a genuinely informative and intelligently debated discussion. And it is something that affects us all Whinging for it's own sake mught be amusing to some but it achieves nothing positive and creates a climate of negativity. If the board became overwhelmed with that type of attitide then you are probably right - I'd be better off elsewhere. That hasn't happened yet tho
  5. it is a long way to go to watch an Arsenal Man Utd final for sure....
  6. dave_carnell not that I'm doubting your info or anything, but given the sensitivities and legal process, and without full access to all the facts I'm abstaining from any comment (but I think I know who's side I'm on)
  7. agreed Keef - until both games are over both sets of fans are going to be far too emotinally involved to do anything remotely like ENJOY the games - lets hope no-one gets sent off and the best team wins anyway...
  8. in light of the fact that my brother is the most committed Liverpool fan I know (and there is strong competition on here but really - you have to see this guy in action!) and the fact that he runs a pub, I was thinking of combining a visit to his pub on Wednesday evening to watch the Liverpool v Arsenal game It's in Charlton - anyone else up for it? (Annsfield I know you won't be making it out from behind the sofa but maybe safety in numbers?) non-involved forumites welcome - you don't have to enjoy football to enjoy watching my brother watching it!
  9. I'm a firm believer in "no change-overs = path to heaven" but even I have come around to the "oh just get to Camberwell Green and change when you get there" way of thinking Don't rule out walking the last bit either - it makes sitting outside the EDT with a pint afterwards less guilt-ridden
  10. oops - 2 threads on same topic - http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,109943
  11. is it this week or next? I think we have another week of relaxed Mockney postings - after which the lay of the land will need to be tested ;-)
  12. another Friern-ite here
  13. evenings like this can be the best tho' can't they giggirl? Appreciate the Strummer link in the other thread as well
  14. lolalola Southwark tube station will be pretty redundant for you as there is no tube to take you there - but the 63 bus goes right past and depending what time of day you travel can take about 30 mins from ED to the tube station You can also get the 176 bus from Lordship Lane area which goes to Waterloo (better to hop off just before at the roundabout and walk the last bit depending on where you actually work mind you) And if you are in the area on Friday evening next week, come join us at the Crystal Palace Tavern off Lordship Lane where plenty of us forumites are having a monthly drink - you will get PLENTY of feedback from a wide variety of characters
  15. stb... glad we made up after the recent street fight I'm not saying I don't drop litter, speed or drive the wrong way down one way streets. but I am saying if I did I wouldn't claim immunity if caught. and I wouldn't go on a public discussion board to state a claim for some imagined victimhood. don't get me wrong... anyone is within their rights to do so. but why would they?
  16. Keef Cheers for the commentary - I was a long way from a telly and if I can visit just ONE website.. this is it and I had some updates wow - that was a game. why haven't we seen more of that character. Too little too late I fear but good to see none the less Wenger called it on the tackle - a deserved red card (from an all to predictable source) I no longer believe Arsenal have "a discipline problem" - but that was warranted and responsibility was accepted. More please
  17. I like SimonM more with each post he makes
  18. seanmlow I do lots wrong - I just don't complain about it on here
  19. This view so depresses me - it is stated with such regularity by so many people without any basis. The council is consulting - many people will be for something and many will be against it. WHICHEVER decision a council makes a lot of people can say "they never listen to us". So it can never, ever ever win Does anyone not think what it must be like to actually have responsibility for these things and to actually do a job?
  20. part of the Highway Code (or was when I took my test) states that it shouldn't matter if you are in a familiar area or new town - a driver should be alert at all times. If signs change in your local area you can't defend yourself by saying "but that old sign was there for years"
  21. PeckhamRose - you say: I would turn the question around - why do you think they aren't? Re: people who don't obey speed limits as I've already posted, most drivers (not a minority) nudge over a speed limit by a little bit - a little bit over 30 is much more injurious than a little over 20 Does no-one discuss it? I'm happy to. Because a world full of people walking, running or dawdling is one where no-one will get injured or killed. It's the cars that do the damage. A world full of people walking, running or dawdling is a much more sociable one where it's far less likely that criminals will feel they can get away with (say) a mugging, as there are so many people around and not locked away in their cars A world where people walking, running or dawdling is also a world which can sustain itself and not be dependant on oil Completely not true in my case. Many people do need cars for jobs, health reasons etc. Just a much smaller number than currently drive everywhere. Besides I love driving why would I ban cars? But the fact is the balance has gone waaaaay to far towards cars. It's just not possible to avoid them anymore, not to mention the roads they require which carve up cities and countryside alike. Or the fact that they consume a dwindling resource at a frightening rate. And for all the mobility drivers have, they're not half an angry lot...
  22. many of my favourites already chosen - but I do like "In D minor which I always find is really the saddest of all keys." also on the DVD commentary which they all do "in character" there is a great scene where the manager first arrives at the hotel and they start laying into him saying things like "look a' 'im - he fought 'e was the fifth Tap" or some such
  23. * was it something I said ? * * I knew those mint leaves could have been fresher, but still *
  24. * hear that, yo *
