  1. Cheers Marmora Man - but I know it can come across as condescending rantage from me... The list of things you can do that are cheaper/easier/healthier/tastier/shorter than ready meals is exhaustive... but of people don't want to do it it's their choice But if I hear they "can't" do it then my hackles really rise
  2. that thread has been started downsouth. At least once Sorry you had that experience - I have found them to be tremendous people and and many of us have been for drinks on several occassions - always been a joy I know Kate (owner) takes criticism very seriously (and well) so I will pass on
  3. Dom, I want to feed you, not put you off your food
  4. Frisco - if only I were that tall and skinny! tis a pet peeve of mine. I am up at 6am every day and often don't get back til late evening but (and I stress how often I have in the past had ready meals with the guilty scars to show for it) just like there is a forum rule.. Never The Vale.... Never The Ready Meal (Never is a changeable concept.... I work next to a Waitrose and tried their premium premium chili recently... but it was, frankly, dogshite.... and nearly a fiver's worth of dogshite at that. Some mince - a quid - plus ingredients lying about at home - 45 mins tops. If you don't have 45 mins for food then there is more wrong with life than M&S not being nearby) oooh I do rant on this topic don't I?
  5. tonight is defrosting 12 chicken wings from (inserts name of reputable butcher here*) Then I'm blitzing 3 Scotch bonnets, 1 habenero and 1 serrano chili, some passata, spring onion, salt, pepper, garlic and a dash of (praise the Lord!) dragon's blood sauce, mix it up, oven bake at high temp, crips on the grill - total time 30 mins.... (*have tried "packaged" wings from an assortment of supermarkets, high and low. Fatty shite the lot of it. And very expensive in some of them too...)
  6. I am sooo going to be slated but I have always found France ( and Corsica) to be extremely friendly
  7. What Asset said. And even I was tempted to buy something in there (same as *Bob* as it happens) Yes it is overpriced tat/maybenottatbutexpensiveanyway - but it's not like we can't get what we need elsewhere is it? Better that than empty shop fronts
  8. MW - stop over-fretting - you will be fine. You will get home and no-one will attack you I know it happens - but in a metropolis like this the chance of it happening to you are slim. More likely to be run over by a car crossing the road.... No hee bee gee bees necessary
  9. no ready meal, and I mean NO ready meal is worth it have another look at that ingredient list guys And even if the was the bees knees, there you are with your microwave meal, knowing that hundreds of thousands of people are having EXACTLY the same slop. Is slop harsh? Have another look at it - you've had a proper version of that meal somewhere before haven't you. And what you see in front of you isn't it Is it THAT hard to cook for yourselves? I'll come and do it for you... but please. Ready meals... NO!! (and I have been there.. for years. And not even the good stuff. 2 years of Bernard's Turkey Drummers... Of course I tried the Waitrose & M&S meals.... but... oh look nothing I say will make a difference)
  10. Ahem. . He seems like a nice guy but as the original sean can we refer to sean2 by his full name? i thank you as for m and s. Reasonable prices? I presume you are referring to the meat and being able to buy on school nights ? Everything else is readily available
  11. Ah. Cheers macro. Sin bin for me then
  12. Where has that come from? And what is it selling? its opposite edt if anyone else hasnt seen it btw
  13. weelllll it's a little bit faster but I would never call anything Cale does "happy" even adding an "er" None of us going for the original Cohen then ;-)
  14. Good thread and good choices Do You Realize? has aaaaalmost become overplayed for me but that last guitar riff in the quieter second half still works - oh hang on I'm off again! Someone is BOUND to mention Hallelujah by Buckley but I prefer John Cale's take meself The Streets - Empty Cans. After the rewind and the single piano note pings in, that's me in trouble. By the time he finds his bleedin thousand quid I'm in buckets
  15. maybe true CWALD, but legally what's the position? I'm not sure If I was to apprehend one of these girls (go with it, it's hypothetical after all) and bring them to the familial doorstep I would be greeted by an anxious parent all to pleased I informed them of their daughter's early forays into rapscallion-hood before it was all too late
  16. "Tariff" is proving a real bugger for me at work at the moment (and you just know that any job that involves needing to use the word tarrif is one that makes me feel I'm living the dream!)

    Help!

Has anyone heard from Louisa since this incident? I was expecting a lengthy diatribe about, well, something but no sign
  18. From postings on here generally I wouldn't call Frisco and angry soul, although clearly cares about this issue, and I can see why From postings on here Maurice I would say you do enjoy stirring things rather too much HOWEVER There is actually merit in Maurice's advice to try and pull the facts together rather than let emotion be the main card. Frisco: I doubt Mo is going to bother contacting Network Rail or anybody else as he doesn't feel as strongly as many others on the subject but that shouldn't derail you from your goal. Good luck
  19. y'all want this one lounged don't ya?
  20. Keef Don't know for sure the location - I'll check when I get my hands on another leaflet
  21. pro-action.. like it Sean
  22. ?30 for 2 for a takeaway? When Omrith and Gurkha's Tiffin are around I don't think so...
  23. Good shout Keef - I've seen them live many a time at Brixton and the last time they did that on just piano There is a live DVD which has a full on version and their Glastonbury 2000 version I have on VHS somewhere is good too (no idea which one you just posted - work filters and all that)
  24. oh well DONE that man... early morning wordplay
