  1. MP - I know Yvonne Sullivan very well and she would be insulted by your-keyboard-as-creationism theory!
  2. That woman shrieks for fun - gives me a headache
  3. Calimaaari Dahn lads
  4. I think that's still true Asset - although I don't think we are trying to avoid tipping - it's more to make sure it gets to the person it's supposed to In your waiting days how did the tips get divvid out?
  5. Hello new to the area Onion (and scrabble person) Can't say as I know for sure but of the likely venues I would say The Magdala or EDT are likeliest - possibly the CPT as well?
  6. ouch - no warning on that picture at all!
  7. I see - my take would be if it's family run then it's up to them but that some places might use the term "family" in it's loosest possible meaning "Across out 132 outlets we employ 721 staff - all are considered part of our family*" * Subject to status. Usual Terms Conditions Apply. You forfeit the right to all tippage should you sign the contract
  8. maybe they were busy watching Gay Byrne?
  9. * looks up manual * "A virual ban is in place and is policed by virtual wardens and virtual police Although - no-one has ever seen these " * I think you are safe ed *
  10. i'm liking the idea - but what sort of family run places do you have in mind? Even the smallest establishment I know of uses non-family staff
  11. If someone can upset Keef that much then you KNOW they have done something wrong Have an tequila-flavoured eclair Keef (blimey have I turned in to DulwichMum?)
  12. I've done it before meself..... I just don't want confusion to intrude on the grieving
  13. I absolutely love Nunhead cemetary but have only been twice (well, whenever it's a choice between a cemetary and something else people always veto me) Very gothic and very beautiful - might join next one. Thanks Asset
  14. parallel thread here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,29316
  15. 1999 for me Nice to see Tralee was as affected by 80s hair as anywhere else
  16. Cheers admin Passed yesterday evening and indeed - Noon Tues ("and not BEFORE" apparantly) I'm local but busy on Tue - Wed may be CPT quiz - Thu anyone??
  17. I read about the strong possibility last night - in fact the CEO said they were dealing with some very difficult situations but guaranteed 100% that the would not go into administration (businessmen eh? never believe a word they say) I loved FOPP with a passion for years - but as they expanded I felt the "feel" had gone - and then I heard about how aggressive they were to existing indie retailers (eg refusing to deal with distributors who sold to local indies) the love waned Still feel sad about it tho - there is no denying the joy in browsing the ?5 section and seeing someones back catalogue in full...
  18. * coughs * Kind words DM kind words - but I fear I am cultivating the potato farmer from Mayo look all too well Back to Eoin McLove - I like jumpers, where's my cake??
  19. What Keef said.. about both football in pubs and Dodgeball being fab Both true (although a slight preference for Zoolander)
  20. very good PP - and all too predictably true. Never mind that in other parts of the world where economic depression has been caused by smoking bans - New York, California, celic tiger Ireland.. oh hang on they are all doing fine re Point 5 however - I see signs have gone up around my office to the effect that smoking is now not allowed outside the office either (in the lobby area - not ANYWHERE outside the office)
  21. boy do I feel deflated..... And londonray - as I pointed out so someone on another thread - easy on the CAPS SHOUTING (heck you even registerd in lowercase so no need to shout) But as a fully paid-up Irishman myself I can slag Irish "country" music off as much as I like - I was brought up on the stuff (to the accompaniement of boiled cabbage and bacon) And Dulwichmum is correct about DoD but doesn't go far enough - he makes his Fr Ted counterpart - Eoin McLove - look manly We can love and hate the things about our roots londonray
  22. And it always rains for it as well - but I'll be checking it out Up Cork!
  23. ooh good shout FnB - I'll need to bring a stash as I fear CWALD has an awful thirst on her
  24. As I had written in a previous post that perhaps some friends might have been playacting I should make it 100% clear that I am sorry for any distress caused to the parent in question - She has my every sympathy in what must have been a very worrying time for the whole family and I'm glad the girls in question are safe Tillie - I see absolutely what you are saying. There is no moral equivalence - but there is probability to take into account as well CWALD's account is more troubling still. As a child growing up in a small town I was approached on at least 3 occassions by different adults. One was notorious locally as a very strange man indeed and all children were warned about him but he was tolerated in the community because .. well I'm not sure. He didn't go out of his way to attack or abduct anyone and was obviously unwell but I think people had an eye on him so it was ok. On other occassions it was the sneaky, pillar-of-the-community types who would wait for a suitable moment at a wedding or function to see if you were "susceptible" - they were far worse than the porr lost sould already mentioned But reading CWALD's account was horrible (not your fault CWALD - appreciate the info). It's one thing to be aware that this sort of thing goes on but to have to actually deal with it requires a stronger consitution than I possess.. How best to tackle it however I'm not so sure... Having a media that won't cooperate because it's "small potatotes" can't be a help mind you
  25. I have to agree DPF - bad motorists are very real threats to children and adults alike but just seem to be shrugged off The phrase "bogeyman" is more controversial. There is no denying that there are SOME people out there with very warped ideas whereas a bogeyman is traditionally fictional. But it is very easy when dealing with incidents such as this for whispers and rumours to spiral out of control (witness the riots in Portsmouth and elsewhere a few years back) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/872436.stm I was, in my unsuccesful way, trying to say on this thread that we should be careful about fanning this thing with whispers and rumours. If this person is as active as we are led to believe then surely we can have someone on here who has more direct connection with events? (and that's me saying please do post on here - I'm not saying the events were made up)
