  1. DulwichMum Maybe we crossed paths! But yes, I looked hard and desperately for any signs of LL cultue in E12 - but zilch. Nada. When the most salubrious venue was Big Del's Disco you know it's time to get out
  2. BBC are broadcasting 30 hours of it - not the same I know
  3. Very brave of you Ms Fowler to resurrect this topic ;-) Got a new tent last week after inspecting the old one but the packing will be done tomorow Today is last day at work this week - woo hoo! Shame you can't come this year - I will have to keep an eye out for a suitable souvenir To anyone who is going, some of us are having a meet up at the Bread & Roses tent about 8pm Thursday if you fancy joining us
  4. GG - so youhave finally surfaced since GF's arrival. You going introduce us all soon? Oops - not on topic. But I saw the actor who played young Sherlock Holmes out and about again yesterday. (an underrated film IMO)
  5. edit for spelling Lady G? As for junior... He may be on Arsenal's books but... was he ever Arsenal?
  6. AnotherPaul - from memory there is many a Herts connection on here CitizenEd - I spent 4 years in East Ham, venturing often into Ilford.... I shall say no more but we should catch up at next drinkup
  7. There are a few down Friern Rd - maybe about half-way up? We looked into about 3 years ago but long waiting lists (and, to be honest, less than 100% commitemnt from us - a pre-requisite I would have thought)
  8. In teh case of waiters and restaurant staff, tipping is not only customary but is factored in to the staff wages - so no, you're not already paying for the service For most restaurant chains (and possibly indies as well) the staff get payed way BELOW the minimum wage, with the legal requirement to pay the minimum waged topped up by punters tips. So I always insure tips are left in cash and go directly to the person providing the service Charity is a completely seperate issue from tipping and shouldn't be bundled in mind you. But tipping isn't really a mugs game - it's quite a good way of redistributing money from well-off to those less well off. And if we can afford to have a meal for two for ?50 + or a haircut for ?70 then that puts us in the well-off category. Noones asking you to make the business-owner richer - it's about helping the little-guy. And we have all been or could be again the little guy so, you know... karma
  9. You see what happens when you pay someone a compliment CWALD? You get ignored for hours.. Huguenot is a top bloke indeed
  10. One of that (many) lessons I learned by experience CitizenED ;-)
  11. You are right Monica - that sign really lifts that building. (Have to avert my eyes from the rest) Lot;s of old signage popping up everywhere - behind the White Stuff boards, and up by the old motor shop near the Plough as well
  12. I get 3 a week (meter men) sometimes - I'd be broke
  13. Already been discussed peeps http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,25003 to death and then a bit more (hence the lounging)

  15. I think polly will have a bigger problem asking mr admin to change her forum name again. . in a previous life i was married and we double barreled. Mistake. these days i would favour keeping ones own name. Makes it easier for the it guys at work too ;-)
  16. I have very strange feelings on this score I love the way Beckham has come back and proved most people (no one complained when he was dropped from the England team) wrong. I just really admire that. And if he was dead wood when he was dropped then there were at least 6 others before him. This talk of the younger members of the squad resenting him sounds like.. well young English football players these days. Petulant underachievers But playing for Madrid...? Joining the superstar team to win trophies and gild the lily? And to not do so? Marvelous. Not to spite him but all the players who join them for the same reason. All top level footballers are on silly money but I would love to hear them say out loud something other than "I have just joined club X because they are the best in the world etc etc" Join a team that's knocking on the door. Or stay loyal to the team you are with. transform them. That will prove how good YOU are. Anything else is glory hunting of the lowest order. On a related note. Brits plying their trade abroad (ie how few of them) . Or moaning about foreigners over here displacing brit talent and affecting the national teams. Absolute top to bottom, grade A, horse manure. Managers in the Premiership would LOVE to have a British spine to their team. Wenger was so deperate to to that he stuck with Jeffers far longer than anyone in their right mind would... But they just. Are. Not. Good. Enough. They may have the talent but their attitude usually lets them down. Stop moaning, Cole, Terry et al and do the business. And they are the good ones.. The B-listers... Wright-Philips etc well.. words fail me
  17. I know i know but i like their style. Always have. And i love the town
  18. Can't comment on the road as I live waaaay the other side of ED - which prevents me from going to Hoopers as much as I'd like Looking forward to the next forum drink up there tho

  22. If it's on Sky then unless any other pub--friendly big event is on I imagine you stand a good change in CPT, Mag or EDT (in that order)
  23. oooh - photo phinish
  24. Possibly true DM - but which country would you aspire to? I don't recall them being much cop "back home" and in the US you have to pay a lot of insurance which may not cover everything and leaves people who can't afford it behind? My friend justgave birth to an 8lb boy today so I'm all made-up!
  25. And because it's not too fizzy
