Have to agree with Louisa on this - never had anything LIKE what was described in susyp's post - and if it did happen then it is such an anomaly I would urge you to try again

Brendan You can wear an iron maiden T-shirt with a kilt - I saw one just this week - had I know it was you I might have said hello. On the other hand

this thread will be "picked up on" by those on the forum who don't like "back slapping" Mockney there are two Harvey's beers on tap at Hoopers - careful CWALD doesn't buy you the stronger one. Good choice of beer tho (drat! back slappage!) As ever with these drink-ups the more the merrier - meeting people really breaks down the on-line personae to see the real person - I've met so many good people from this place - would be great to meet you too CWALD - esp as you are from my neck of the ed-woods (doh!) Timely bump Georgia - nice one. (Damn - did it again!)

Foxtons are coming - Fact (ED housing market)
SeanMacGabhann replied to DiscoDex's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How very odd to be away for a few days and come back to so much.... attitude Haven't read enough posts from DiscoDex to form a true opinion - I think he might have over-egged an initial opinion but the last post seems to suggest a desire to retreat slightly and play a more co-operative approach - but feels he has been burned. Dex, all I would say is that a couple of very fine forum regulars have been in a similar position and have bounced back all the better for it, met with other forumites and generally pretty glad they stuck around so, you know, don't disappear yet As for the rest of the house-prices-rising-it's-all-good mentality I have re-written that reply 4 times but deleted it - I nearly got sucked in on another thread -

Louisa - wouldn't matter if they were told or not to move on - by the time anyone got served in any Q they had to spend 10 minutes just to get the boots out of the mud - it was that bad.. I thought the staff at the Sea Cow stall were also some of the friendliest (just an observation - again I'm not a customer - not sure what my problem is with seafood, wish I would get over it!)

How often are all 5 lines of a limerick actually factually correct - take a bow people!

If I lived in Surrey (or Herts, or Essex, or Kent) I would be saving every penny to get the hell out of there and in to London

Satire MP? On this thread? ;-) It did do very good business - and I couldn't help but ask a few people what they thought of it - everyone loved it

Any friends of ours who have been to Sea Cow have been blown away by the quality of both the fish and chips They also had a stall at Glastonbury which did a roaring trade and I overheard many a happy punter claim it was miles better than any other

Ok, just back this morning and now I have been de-caked I thought I would post a few words on this years fest for those who missed out (hello TT and S) I guess most people have caught sight on the TV of the rain and mud. Definitely the worst part - well the rain was - mud is fine, a pair of wellies and it's nae bother. Even though we had nothing like the biblical storm of 2005 this years weather was worse because, well, it just wouldn't bugger off. At least in 2005 it did what it did and left us to it - no more rain and even baking sunshine for rest of the festival. This year was just endless interruptions to any plan, music or social But like everything else at Glastonbury that soon gets folded into the routine. The weirdest thing about this festival compared to any other, and compared to my life is how adaptable everyone is. How adaptable even I become. I was composing this paragraph in my head on the way back only to find that Charlie Brooker has only pre-empted me in today's Guardian. Almost word for word. But still.. things I hate or don't usually do: Crowds Noise from neighbours Not having easy access to shower Camping Not being able to cook Mud Rain But here I just relish it... everyone just gets on with it. A mental shift happens and it just makes everything.. great Anyway, highlights: Obviously the stuff you don't see on telly - the late night secret gigs (Madness, Aliens being two, at 3am in Lost Vaguness field) The attendant parties at that hour Brendon Burns living vicariously as ever in the comedy tent The Specials reunion as part of Lily Allens set The stage invasion during Iggy's set (routine on this tour I know but still great fun) Kate Nash in the Park Aliens in the Guardian Lounge Meeting friends I didn't expect to see after x years and more The new areas - The Park & the gay red-light-district Less impressive: (but minimally so) The extra 46000 people made things a bit TOO busy. Larger proportion of crowd than usual had an air of home-counties stag-weekend mentality which brought an edge I wasn't keen on Police were a bit heavier handed than usual with peoples "possessions" I now have decompression to go though - until then I will be tired and emotional (can you tell?) for most postings

If we are talking cover versions ideentifiable only by their dental records then surely we must consider The Fatima Mansions - Shiny Happy People http://dw.com.com/redir?siteid=31&edid=3&ptid=&ontid=&ctype=RF;Song;ATN;PTNR&cval=3;3655463;4;9&desturl=http%3A%2F%2Fsg1.allmusic.com%2Fcg%2Fsmp.dll%3Flink%3Dypzfzf9aob9xs96udtkz7a8%26z%3DMP3%26r%3D20.asx

they are still doing it (parents leave child in car)
SeanMacGabhann replied to lilly123's topic in The Lounge
For a thread that started about the responsibility (or lack of) of parents this has turned in to a very sociable thread Thanks for the personal introduction CWALD - will keep an eye out for you and we'll have a beer and talk about Bill (who I saw twice before he died) Rob Newman has really developed as a comedian hasn't he? My favourite is a vhs video called Resistance is Fertile - must dig that one out Annasfield - love the posting but really - 99 channels? That's sooooo 1992 ;-)There's nearly that many music video channels these days -
my mate has just called from the site - he has pitched the tent and says conditions are windy but the sun is fighting to break through. The ground is muddy but not wet - just thickish pliant mud

Harris Academy (new boys school for East Dulwich)
SeanMacGabhann replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Im not sure if people are against the size of the proposal or the nature of the school (academy) I can definitely see the impact on those living nearby but I'm at a loss as to what people's solution is. Is there a better location/locations for multiple schools? If it was multiple instead of one big one are there not cost implications? With so many people having children in the area there is only going to be increased demand for "this type of thing" -
Excellent idea comrade - perhaps a warning first in case class IS pertinent to the debate - but if it's not heeded...

Another last FM user here That cover put a smile on my face Piers.... as does the sun outside
