  1. More apologies to FM, but new mother I am afraid this is slightly misleading. The transfer time by ambulance to Kings and the time it would take to get you into theatre for a ward are often very similar. It takes time to prep a theatre, get a surgeon and anaesthetist in place, so even if you were transferred from a ward there would be a certain time delay. If you are transferred from home, this can all be taking place during your ambulance trip. new mother Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Apenn, > Youa re totally right. 2. I would second this, or Ping Pong http://www.pingpongdimsum.com/ Fliss Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Maybe these people would like to come to ED? > http://www.hareandtortoise.co.uk/ Yum! 3. Great, looking forward to seeing you all then. Should we all wear red carnations or something?!
  4. If we are light on toddlers, how about upstairs at Le Chandelier? Very happy if someone has a better suggestion - it has been a while since I have frequented Lordship Lane cafes!
  5. So it looks like we are on for 7th (this Saturday), late morning. How does 11 suit everyone?
  6. Very happy to do weekend with toddler
  7. I am due end of Jan and would love to meet with toddler, but unfortunately currently work full time :(
  8. 7th sounds like it is good for most people. Leanne I am fine with you bringing your own toddler, I just didn't want to bring mine if it could be avoided, and suspect that is how other feel! Any thoughts on best time/location?
  9. I can't believe I am adding to this but I just can't help myself. "Keef I am sure you are not trying to be 'unfriendly or nasty', nor am I. I did judge...because becoming a parent is about doing the best by your child, providing s/he the best you can and giving them a good life to the best of your ability, pregnant woman who smoke use any excuse going." ...ergo, how someone other than you brings up their child or behaves when they are pregnant, is surely none of your business? Judge all you like, as it is very often the case that someone else's behaviour falls short of how you yourself would have behaved in the same circumstances, but that doesn't give you the right to pull them up on it.
  10. Hi Fran - totally agree! If a Saturday works for most people to meet up for a coffee, I could do 7th or 21st August. Do either of those dates suit anyone? I would also quite like to come without toddler!
  11. Agree with all of the above. I feel hugely privileged to live so close to such a wonderful park with such fantastic resources. The Sexby garden is my favourite spot of all. I spent a lot of time in there when I was on maternity leave, as buggy wheels on the garden's paving slabs tended to have a particularly soporific effect on my son! I have often been tempted to stop the gardeners when I see them and tell them what a great job they do, but thought they might think I was a bit of a mad woman.
  12. Hello Emma and Leanne Would be great to meet up. I am stupidly still working full time, so weekends are best for me, but if during the week is better for you, I have lots of holiday I can take. Victoria
  13. Hello everyone I am expecting baby number 2 at the end of January, and would love to get in touch with ladies having babies around the same time, as the majority of my old NCT class have left/are leaving the area. I have noticed a couple of other people expecting around this time on other threads, in particular the 12 week scan thread, so hopefully there are a few of us around! Victoria
  14. After starting this thread it was clear that my little bot was nowhere near ready, so we hae shelved it for the time being, but I was very grateful for all the top tips on here and wil be using them in the future as and when we do get going!
  15. Sorry HeidiHi, but as has already previously been mentioned, Africa is not a country, so it is very dangerous to make sweeping generalisations about an entire continent. I suspect that you do not know the human rights laws of every country that makes up the African continent, but please do let me know if I am wrong. While I applaud you for standing up for this child, your method of rebuke of the father was questionable. 16. Very good to know! My first labour was 24 hours from established labour to birth, with 2 days of early labour before that, so am desparately hoping it will be quicker next time! 17. I have been following this thread with interest, and wanted to come on and give a big thumbs up to the Harris Birthright Centre after my 12 week scan yesterday for baby number 2. I, along with a lot of others, had a very long wait to be seen at every scan throught my last pregnancy. Yesterday we were seen on the dot of our appointment time and were out of the door about an hour later. I didn't even get to finish Grazia! Seriously impressed, and feel very lucky that we have these fantastic facilities right on our doorstep, including the early pregnancy unit which I had to visit at 9 weeks due to bleeding. I suspect I might have just been very lucky, but managed to book an early morning slot for the 20 weeks scan so am keeping my fingers crossed that it is the same next time.
  18. As a back up question, does anyone think the quickness second time around decreases the longer you leave between pregnancies? All my friends with 2 year gaps had a much better time second time around. My gap will be nearly three years adn I was wondering if this makes a difference? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but it was something I had been wondering about!
  19. The Other Hand sounds great, I will get ac opy for my hols I think.
  20. No worries, let me know if you need it. My other suggestion, although very old so you have probably read it, is Life of Pi. Loved that book and still have a copy if you wanted to borrow as well.
  21. I have finished with my copy, so you are very welcome to borrow if it is not in the library. Fuschia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Time travellers wife is one of my fave books so I > will try the follow up... Read eveyrthing by > Philippa Gregory...
  22. You might have read them already, but the Larsson trilogy are good (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first one). Easy reading and real page turners. Time Traveller's Wife is one of my favourite books of recent years, and the follow up called Her Fearful Symmetry is also really good. In terms of historical fiction, The Other Boleyn Girl, and the others by the same author (forget her name) are very readable. I also really liked 'One Day'.
  23. After finding our son balanced along the top of the rail of his cotbed last night ::o screaming his head off, we have decided to take the plunge and take the sides off. He is 2 1/4 and I don't really want him roaming around the house on his own in the night if he does get up, so have decided to put the stairgate across his bedroom door as recommended above. Is this what most people have done once their child has moved into a bed? How long until you have let them have free roam?
  24. We used the soft leather shoes until our son was properly walking by himself (these ones actually shoes) and then had him fitted with clarks leather shoes at John Barnett on Lordship Lane. (Edited as link not working - but they are called Shoo shoes)
