I feel for you, as I am suffering terribly already and am only 22 weeks. Gaviscon is my friend - bottle on bedside table and tablets in handbag. I second the little and often suggestion, as food does seem to aleviate it temporarily.

I don't think there are any plans to remove the traffic lights and not replace them with anything. Prior to the lights bring installed there was a well used and functional zebra crossing in their place which enabled safe crossing of Forest Hill Road whilst not interfering with the flow of traffic. Plently of others school journeys involve zebra crossings rather than traffic lights and children and parents seem to be satisfied with this. whisteria Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi all, > > My kids use the traffic lights to get to school. I have sent a letter along the lines of MM's (thanks for the template). VikkiM let me know if you would like me to send you a copy.

"- If the traffic signals were to be removed there would, at busy times, be significantly more delay to side road (Dunstans/Colyton) traffic - so it?s the Forest Hill Road traffic that will be the main benefactors of the removal of the signals." "- These delays might increase possibility that drivers emerging from the side road would force their way out into the main road at inappropriate times, making accidents more likely." In the four years I lived in the immediate vicinity to these junctions, prior to the installation of the lights, I don't recall either of these things being a problem. What is a problem is that the lights cause some drivers to jump up the side roads and around the lights to avoid them, increasing the traffic on Dunstans, Rydale etc and Underhill (where I live) as a result. These drivers are not aware (or do not care) that they are going from a 30mph zone into a 20mph zone and rarely adjust their speed.

100% agree with this, the traffic lights are a nightmare, and they were always supposed to be temporary. I also think they are contributing to the extra traffic we are experiencing on Underhill Road as people cut up round the lights. Traffic on Underhill Road near the Dunstans Road junction, as I have previously mentioned, seems to be increasingly travelling at excess speed, as there do not seem to be clear road markings to let traffic know that they are moving from a 30moph zone to a 20mph zone. (Probaby stupid) question about feta cheese
Vickster replied to Vickster's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes, spanakopita here I come! Usually I am not worried about the cheese thing, as there are so many other things to eat, but in Greece as I am veggie the options are already a bit limited. -

(Probaby stupid) question about feta cheese

Thanks very much supergolden88 Looks like I should avoid all restaurant feta then :( Do you know what the translation into the greek alphabet is of pasteriasmeni, as I guess that is what will be displayed on the packages. I guess I can always ask in the shops as well. -
Hi everyone I am 17 weeks pregnant with baby number 2, and ate feta cheese throughout my first pregnancy. It was always on every 'safe' list I looked at. We are going to Greece on holiday in a week's time, and someone mentioned to me yesterday that certain types of feta in Greece should be avoided as they are made with unpasturised milk. Does anyone know if this is true, as I was planning on Greek salad being my staple diet in the tavernas! Also, any Greek linguists out there that could send me the Greek for 'pasturised' so I know what I am looking for in the supermarket if I buy it myself. that would be fantastic. Victoria

Does anyone else's child speak Sea Lion?
Vickster replied to Fi from West Dulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I always thought the rough rule of thumb was walk at 1 and talk at 2, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. I do think boys take a bit longer as well. My son point blank refused to say any words until around his 2nd birthday, but it was clear he understood everything we said to him. Soo frustrating. Mind you, he is a torrent of words now, so once they get it they REALLY get it! -
10.30 fine with me, if this works for others. Also happy to go to Le Chandelier again as I can leave toddler at home, but if there are others that need to bring them, we might need to rethink. Hi James Any chance of responsing to my query, it was above tiger ranks and Tony Quinn's on the page before. Even just to say, I am looking into it, or it is not within my remit? Thanks Victoria -
My 2 1/2 year old (not a baby but hope this helps) has short bursts (15/20 mins) of things like Chuggington, Peppa Pig ro Roary Racing Car in the mornings while I run and have a shower. I Sky+ and series link them, so I always have a ready supply. I initially felt a but guilty, but I actually think he does learn from them, and it is the only way I would get us both up washed, dressed and out of the house in time in the morning!

Hi James I am not sure if this is in your ward, but was wondering if you could point me in the right direction of the best person to speak to at Southwark about traffic calming on Underhill Road. In recent months the speed cars are travelling on this road outside my house (in the middle, up from the junction with Dunstans Road) has been quite frightening. The speed humps seem to make little difference, and we constantly hear cars scraping their chassis on them as they are going too fast. I have had to jump outof the way on several occasions while puttingmy son in the car as cars are going too fast and getting too close. Yesterday there was a serious car crash outside my house at rush hour, resulting in two cars being practically written off as the driver was travelling at such speed. Luckily it was a parked car and not a pedestrian that he hit. I would be extremely grateful if you could suggest how best to get some help with this, perhaps a speed survey to see if our concerns are valid? Many thanks Victoria -
Some positive birth stories at Kings, please.
Vickster replied to Fidgetsmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Fidgetsmum, sorry for posting off-topic above. I just wanted to respond to a common misconception. What I should have gone on to say was I too had opted for a home birth, and transferred to Kings as I was failing to progress and exhausted after 2 days of labour. I have only good things to say about the experience, even though it was not what I had wanted or planned for. From wanting a non-medicalised birth, I ended up deciding to have an epidural, and actually it did not turn into the cascade of medical intervention that I had feared. I finally gave birth a further 12 hours after getting to hospital, and it was a natural delivery despite the epidural. I felt in control of the process the whole time, as the epidural had given me some breathing space from the exhaustion of the contractions. It was frustrating not to be able to move around, but I was so exhausted by that point I cared less about this than I thought I would have done. Midwives were fantastic, but they were the Oakwood team who came with me, so can't comment on the Kings staff. Downside for me, as with so many others, was the post natal ward, which was compulsory after an epidural. Something I had stupidly not factored in when I decided to transfer in.
