  1. I thought Tha Guard was very entertaining indeed. One of the few good things to come out of my LoveFilm subscription!
  2. I guess it's suffering from being so close to the world cup... nobody seems interested.
  3. It is tragic. I feel sorry for her kids, her husband, and her father, who must be going through unimaginable pain. But I don't feel sorry for her. She of all people had absolutely no excuse for getting involved with hard drugs.

  6. I don't mind being a self righteous twat on this one. Pointless Z list sleb. The only noteworthy thing she ever did was to let her family down in the worst way possible.
  7. Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Stief Larsson's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Not read it, but seen the movie (both versions)... and that scene... still has me wincing just thinking about it.
  8. I have a ridiculously sweet tooth so actually like cupcakes (even though they are of course totally lame). Street parties are actually a pretty good idea in London, where let's face it, not many of us know many of our neighbours.
  9. How about the worst that you've actually experienced, rather than more pointless rumours?
  10. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > you don't really do abuse on here Jeremy, do you. > And even if you did I can imagine the provocation I try. I did say to someone this morning "you are obviously a troll and an idiot" but never got any comeback... maybe because it was so obviously true.
  11. There was one where I was arguing with hugo about electric cars. He managed to make my blood boil... so I guess you could say he "won" in that respect! In recent memory, the "fag" argument was amusingly daft.
  12. Ha. Bob and his silly little radio. Wasn't really even a proper argument.
  13. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They're the one's that have had their babies in > ED, then move out for more space, same scum. Nail. Hit. On the head. People who move house are scum.

But wouldn't deliveries vary greatly depending on the type of occupant? i.e. someone selling predominantly fresh foods would need much more frequent deliveries.

You need some guarantee that you'll be given a fair crack at making a return from that initial investment.
  16. One thing I don't get... if the planning application is being made independently of M&S, why are delivery times part of the application? Doesn't make sense.
  17. Back in your box, otta! You'll be wanting tribal sovereignty next!
  18. I watched a bit of the live show on TV too, but just seemed like bland and unimaginative song-and-dance routines... and I don't think I heard the audience laugh at all. Turned off atter ten minutes (and this is coming from someone who has almost all of their output on DVD)
  19. northlondoner Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But having blown out (to Peckham) I moved to Peckham last year... freely admit it was because of the cheaper housing, but now I'm here it seems in many ways a more interesting, lively, varied, and convenient place to live. Not that I don't miss things about ED too, luckily am still within walking distance.
  20. onthemove123... you are obviously a troll and an idiot. No strangers have ever asked you to look after their baby, don't be stupid. The way you single out mothers is inherently sexist, you are implying that you believe they should not be in cafes or pubs. Why don't you ask the cafe owners if they'd rather the place was empty during the week? As that is the most likely alternative. (I don't even know where you can get a "pot" of coffee rather than a cup, but if it comes in a pot then I can only assume it is supposed to be shared.) You seem to resent families... and people who earn enough to live in a reasonable area yet are not rich. You certainly pick strange targets. You (like the OP) have no real roots in the area, yet complain about newcomers and talk about "locals" and "regulars". It's laughable.
  21. University should be for academic, not vocational studies. And it should only be for people with the ability and willingness to learn. Tuition fees and the prospect of huge loans might be discourgaging tomorrow's engineers/scientists/doctors/etc, while others from wealthy families piss away three years and get a 2:2 in tourism.
  22. vanstone, areas change. If you'd seen the area in the late 90s, you probably wouldn't have fancied living here (it wasn't rough, but there was little to recommend about it). The version of ED you decided to move to was already gentrified, almost unrecognisable from its former self. So to complain about continuing changes since then seems rather odd, especially as people like you are part of the ongoing process. onthemove123 - there may well be snotty middle-class idiots in ED, but they sound preferable to your bitchy, borderline sexist "mates".
  23. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I can't remember the exact location, but it was in > the row of shops somewhere between HSBC and Goose > Green. Where the new French cafe is now, perhaps? Yep, site of Boho/French place. But IMO an "amusement arcade" is somewhere where you play video games, and the place on Lordship Lane was a gambling place.
  24. I don't see why we should avoid Picturehouse, just to give our business to another chain which are probably paying their staff less! If workers want to strike then fine, but a boycott makes no sense from where I'm sitting.
  25. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Amusement Arcade? When was the last time you saw one of those open on a high street? There's one in Peckham now. Sort of. Well, a bar with 15 or so retro arcade machines. But I think Sophron probably meant one of those places with loads of fruit machines and a sign saying "casino" outside. Like what the boho bar used to be, innit.
