  1. Would only go for it if the risk is reflected in the price. And if it's the house I'm thinking of... it isn't.
  2. To be honest I don't know the details of what Rolf did. I don't really want to know. But according to the article you quoted earlier, Otta, the groping was the tip of the iceberg.
  3. That strange little moustache that goes up into his nose freaks me out a bit
  4. The thing is... men always want a better spec than they need. From your description, the cheapest available desktop PC will probably be absolutely fine. But no, we want an i7 processor. We want 32GB of RAM. We want a 30" 2560x1600 monitor (with a ?500 graphics card). We want SSD boot drives. Just for watching YouTube, listening to Spotify, and playing Minesweeper.
  5. I use it as a last resort.

  7. I agree with LD, it doesn't seem likely that this crop of celeb pervs were abused. Seems more like a mixture of opportunity, power, and a self-centred mindset.

  9. Compared to other parts of the UK - yes. Compared to other major world capitals - yes and no...
  10. Well that's the thing, isn't it? So many bands use an element of programmed or recorded accompaniment live these days. If you listen to someone like Kasabian, their whole sound revolves around electronic/dance beats. And I can't even imagine what Coldplay would sound like without all the synths and strings. Even traditional guitar/bass/drum bands are often playing along to a click so they can get samples/loops/lights/video all synced up. The very notion of a dance or electronic band playing "live" - whether it's Goldfrapp, The Pet Shop Boys, The Prodigy or whatever - has always been a joke, it's basically karaoke (at best). Was Dolly Parton miming? Probably a bit of both. Large portions of live singing, but with pre-recorded backing vocals plus a few high notes and stuff. It's just the way things are these days. And as mainstream audiences have become accustomed to a polished product, it becomes self propogating.
  11. They have a singer called Paul McTurtle, he's got this great song about frogs on a picket line.
  12. I feel strangely sorry for him. Despite the fact that he undoubtedly deserves to be locked up for the disgusting things he's done. I feel an odd, involuntary pang of sympathy at this pathetic, dejected character walking into court, shamed in front of the world and knowing that his life is effectively over.
  13. Get back on that train... just for one day... and do what has to be done. Strike up a pleasant conversation - think of 3 or 4 possible subjects in advance which are fairly natrual, trivial and non-creepy. Don't stare at anything you're not supposed to stare at, or introduce yourself as 'salsaboy'. Slip her a business card - no public humiliation that way if she's not interested. Never getting a call back is still 10 times better than kicking yourself for doing nothing.
  14. Entry level PCs are generally fine for anything except gaming or other specialist CPU-intensive software. I imagine photo editing software would run OK on pretty much anything (although I'm just guessing). All PCs now seem to have wi-fi and HDMI/full HD. Hard disk space is becoming less important with the growth in cheap/free cloud storage. TBH a cheap ?300 job like markymark suggests would probably be perfect. Edited to say - the pro range Dell PCs are built like tanks and will have superior components, so maybe not a bad option if you can pick up a refurbed one. But their home PCs will probably be no better than a cheapo Packard Bell or Acer.
  15. I have about 20 ties, but it's 19 more than I need (the same black one does the job for any funerals or formal dinners). One thin belt for work, one thick belt for jeans (neither as nice as KK's new belt though). However, with the fantastic news that Sainsbury's clothes section is to re-open, I may just treat myself to a new one!
  16. The Old Kent Road one is much better... you drive up a big ramp and chuck your stuff down into pits, rather than having to climb the steps at the side of the containers. Never had to queue there either. Worth a few extra minutes in the car. (and it sort of reminds me of a karting track for some reason)
  17. Gutted that Sainsbury's clothes section is shut, where am I supposed to get my wife's birthday present from now??
  18. I used to use the word gyppo - when I was 15. It was bandied around innocently without any hint of stereotyping, but haven't we all moved on a bit since then?
  19. Does anybody actually give a stuff where they're from or what they look like? As usual for the EDF, ethnicity becomes the main talking point for some bizarre reason.
  20. Would be shocked if Sainsburys didn't sell them. The White Stuff might sell some sort of preppy canvas belt, perhaps? Otherwise Primark or Peacocks in Peckham are not far away.
  21. Zebedee Tring Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "Scoping" is really a computer science word I don't think that's true... "scope" is commonly used in programming but I don't think that the verb form is exclusive to computing.
  22. Which EDF is that, then? The French energy company?
  23. People who say "sourcing" instead of "buying" (thanks to Otta for this one). Going to the butchers does not require the language of a corporate supply chain.
  24. Also a new primary on Bellenden Road (arguably not "in the area", I know)
  25. How about Max Cl... oh hang on... Totally know what you mean steveo, but at the same time it's to get behind Israel when their answer to most situations appears to be an air strike.
