  1. It's one of Gordon Ramsay's favourite expressions... "you're a chippy little fucker aren't you?", sort of thing.
  2. I don't know much about Penge except for the Homebase (boo) and Tasty Palace (yay)
  3. She has previous with miming... or at least using sections of pre-recorded vocals in her show. I imagine it's not that uncommon.
  4. sydenhamcentral Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > One advantage about living in the bleak part of > Sydenham is that it encourages you to go to other areas. Laughed out loud a little bit there!
  5. Bryan Adams? No, surely that could never happen. Would The Pixies headlining the Pyramid stage have been out of the question? I mean if Kasabian can do it...
  6. It didn't happen on the pitch, it has no bearing on the world cup, there's no debate to be had over what punishment is appropriate... that's why people aren't discussing it. Not because anybody thinks its OK.
  7. I think the one degree is not writing "Everything I do"
  8. Nobody dared to criticise Springsteen (even though to my ears he's just one degree of separation from Bryan Adams).
  9. Yeah of course it's disgusting, but there isn't really any debate to be had is there?
  10. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw another hard rock band next year - Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, AC/DC. What new/young bands are big enough to headline, and actually quite good? It's not easy...
  11. Maybe ironically for a metal band, I actually think Metallica have far catchier songs than either Kasabian or Arcade Fire. Perhaps I'm showing my age by even having "catchy" as a criteria...
  12. Drank a cocktail
  13. I don't think wanting to go out for the occasional meal is an obsession, Louisa. It's quite normal, I think. Nice - it's a subjective thing, but for me I guess I mean decorated some time in the last 20 years, cleaned occasionally, has a beer selection which extends beyond Fosters and Guinness, welcoming bar staff, etc. I'm sure plenty of (OK, a few) people like the Man Of Kent and The Pyrotechnists, and I'd happily have a drink there myself, but they don't really tick the boxes for me I'm afraid. Any talk of who has the best bakery is a moot point when the best cakes and pastries for miles around are found at Southerden in Peckham...
  14. Yes nice to see Costa Rica through. Mixed feelings about the Netherlands. Shame that after playing some good football, they are spoiling it with all this diving nonsense. On the other hand, lots of teams/players dive and play act, you could say that they were just lucky to get the penalty.
  15. Knew my landline number. Certainly not in either of my last two houses!
  16. There have been a couple of restaurants in recent-ish memory, but neither survived. But I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Also, the excellent Peckham Bazaar is practically in Nunhead...
  17. KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Also, Pavlikv wasn't fighting at SMW when Joe could have fought him. Yeah but possibly Pavlik - or Jermain Taylor - might have stepped up for the right price. It happens. Ricky Burns is probably finished, I'm afraid. Writing's been on the wall since the Beltran fight.
  18. Soccer matches will need to be played in four quarters before the sport really takes off in the US!
  19. The area's gradually getting smarter for sure, but there still isn't much happening there, is there? Only really one nice pub, and nowhere else (as far as I know) to get a bite to eat.
  20. numbers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would never buy a used > car that was over 5 yrs old or had high mileage > because I know jack all about cars and > maintenance. Yeah, same here. High mileage not only suggests that things might start wearing out soon, but also that the car might have had a hard life (company/fleet car, etc).
  21. Was thinking the same thing... publically slagging off your employer isn't really the done thing, is it? I guess "managing the best you can to the advantage of as many people as possible" should be the aim of all political parties, but nevertheless it wouldn't be a tagline I'd necessarily associate with the tories.
  22. I'll hold off requesting ethical alternatives to El Pibe for now, then.
  23. That is one bloody big car, adonirum! You'll need deep pockets for the road tax too...
  24. Sounds like a bit of "tax efficiency" is going on chez pibe!
  25. The argument seems to go something like: "What he did was unacceptable, but so are other things which sometimes happen in football" "Why do you think biting someone is acceptable?" "I didn't say it was" "His behaviour was totally unacceptable" "Yes I know" And let's stop the Tyson analogy. Huge difference between this and biting part of someone's ear off, spitting it out, and leaving a man in agony and permanently disfigured. You might as well compare a slap in the face with a stamp on the head.
