I don't often watch football, but to these layman's eyes, Brazil lacked the quality in movement/passing that people expect from them. The match seemed a bit scrappy. But I think that's often the case with these early group matches...

I didn't think that this kind of thing would be coming to Rye Lane itself any time soon. But looks like I was wrong... this place, Four Quarters, Lerryns cafe, etc. Nice to see the place smartening up a bit, hopefully Rye Lane can retain a mix of businesses to cater for the whole community.

Calling the police would have achieved precisely nothing. The guy would have been long gone. I take the "should have ran him over" comments with a pinch of salt, but if they were meant literally then that's obviously pretty stupid.

If the bin's on your property, it's illegal and totally out of order. If the bin's on the street then it's still dodgy and suspicious. Even if they appear to be looking for bits and bobs they can sell.

Its a sign of the times that SJ is in the minority here! I guess there is a line somewhere between renting out your former home for a bit, and the kind of rampant speculation which distorts the market. But I'm not entirely sure where it lies.

Just been looking at the BBC news piece on the latest land speed record attempt, and it struck me how utterly pointless it is. Building a rocket-on-wheels which can reach 1000mph does zilch for the advancement of the human race, and has absolutely no practical application. There's no entertainment value in it, and even as a feat of engineering I don't find it particularly inspiring. Waste of time and money... the whole thing just seems like a hangover from the 80s.
