  1. Not sure what point you're trying to make, ianr...
  2. I think "scam" is a little strong, because this is basically standard practise as far as I can work out. Ticket prices are nominal, but the ammo can really cost a lot. However, while this is fine for a bunch of 30-year-olds on a stag weekend, it is completely unsuitable for a children's party. The kids will obviously blast away indiscriminately, then cry when they run out, leaving the poor parent with a bill for hundreds of pounds. They should offer fixed priced packages, with a set amount of ammo which is allocated before each game.

I'm probably somewhere in between you and SJ on this one... there is a clear demand for rental property in London, so clearly a need for landlords. In theory there is absolutely nothing wrong with BTL, the problem is that it's usually motivated by appreciation of value rather than a steady return on investment.
  4. I think a more reasonable OP might have been to ask if anybody knows why this tree is being removed, rather than automatically objecting to it! It's a serious issue if you own a property suffering from this kind of damage.

Quite possible he knows people in the area... originally from Bermondsey I believe.

Not a fan of his work, but seems like a good guy. Nice to see a DM article putting him in a good light, but its too little too late really.
  7. Sorry yeah I meant CGT and income tax. Seems like on hell of a profit regardless. Still... easy to make money in a rising market.

Do developers have to pay stamp duty AND income tax?
  9. Yep, Shoreditch High St would be useful if you work around the northern stretch of Bishopsgate, but it's a pretty long walk to somewhere like Bank or St Pauls. A train to London Bridge or Blackfriars would be more useful for most of the city.

    Don't go there, DD.
  11. You don't need a new mortgage offer. The bank needn't be any the wiser, the "official" purchase price should remain the same. Your solicitor should arrange for transfer of funds and for the amount to be deducted from your final settlement.
  12. I'm sure the IMF will be delighted to have EDF endorsement.
  13. Also London Overground is not really good for the city.
  14. Only problem with camberwell arms is the generic beers.
  15. Why not get in touch with the Four Quarters guys and see if they want it?
  16. Part of the problem was that there really weren't that many good fighters operating at super middle during Joe's reign. Ottke was one of the few I could think of. Jones/Hopkins/Toney had all moved up to LHW by the time he'd won his title.
  17. I think it looks nice. A much nicer road than Friern Rd or Hindmans Rd. And if you knock out the chimney breast it will feel a bit more spacious... nice long garden too.
  18. I think most would agree with that... Calzaghe the more talented boxer, but a relatively lacklustre CV. If Joe had fought - for example - Sven Ottke, Antonio Tarver, and Kelly Pavlik (all of which he should have won) then his record would look a lot more impressive.
  19. Strange thing to say, edcam! Nothing wrong at all with skating as a sport. But agree that it's not a sensible thing to do on the roads.
  20. I've just had a week long stay in an Italian hospital. Excellent ambulance crew, fresh clean wards with only four beds, lots of nurses per patient. The French health service is also excellent. Again... not saying the NHS is bad but neither is it a perfect model.
  21. I'm struggling to see why people hold the NHS in such affection. I'm not saying it's bad, but there are other countries in W Europe with better health care.
  22. I think SCSB79 is just rising to the trolling challenge.
  23. I know... ugly indeed..
  24. Is West Dulwich really closer to Brixton than East Dulwich? Maybe marginally, but it's still got to be a couple of miles at least.
  25. You think they've had an easy ride?? What punishment would you suggest which is harsher than the loss of a child?
