  1. Yep, spot on Keef.
  2. Surely the labour and materials alone are going to cost several hundred anyway? Plus a small premium for having a privilege which many others don't have. Sounds OK to me.
  3. I'm sure you are not alone in admiration of her performance in American Werewolf.
  4. While some of you find it annoying, it's clear that not everyone feels the same way. However "spot on" you think you are!! Mockney... the '>' character is actually a feature of the forum, it happens automatically when you hit "quote this message". So perhaps you should be speaking to the admin about this? I agree that the "box" formatting is neater.
  5. Thanks for the sarcastic/bitchy comment dv1. Really constructive. Sue... it was a little while ago admittedly. Maybe a year or so.
  6. dv1 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ..but the W Dulwich one is for Lambeth residents > only and they often ask for proof of address to > stop the Soutwark people going in. I have probably been there over 15 times and have never been asked for proof of address.
  7. Oh I see... American spelling...
  8. Dry recycling is just the regular stuff that goes into your blue boxes and bags. Paper, card, plastics, tins/cans, etc. I am assuming that "curb side" means that it is picked up from outside your house.
  9. I guess it's no big deal if you don't want the stuff any more. It just seems to be against the spirit of the forum (whatever that may be). I guess the message to take away, is that if more than one person is interested in something you're giving away, check out their previous posts.
  10. I think our MPs have better things to do than read (or comment on) nonsense like this.
  11. I don't think people will take to it, Scott.
  12. I'm sure many of you have noticed that a handful of people can be quick to pounce when things are being offered for free. Is it a problem when people appear to be snapping these things up, presumably to sell on somewhere else? Or is it fair enough if you didn't want it anyway? Free market, etc...
  13. If they look after the place and respect the neighbours, then fine. But what happens when the rightful owner wants/needs it back?
  14. I think it can be quite a useful way of answering someone - especially on a thread where there are lots of posters going off on tangents. I'm surprised anyone would find it unreadable. I find it can actually make a post a lot more readable, by providing context and setting out points clearly. It's only a problem when the response takes a condescending, superior tone. A trait which if anything, is more common amongst the non-fiskers!

    Precious

Watchable enough. But I actually found it a bit cheesy, which is quite an accomplishment considering the subject matter. Oprah definitely left her mark.
  16. I think the biggest improvement would come from knocking down the buildings around the station, opening it all up so you can see the lovely original building, and creating a sense of space. At the moment it's very claustrophobic. Although I realise this probably won't be possible. PeckhamRose, I hear what you're saying, but I don't always think it's wise to leave these things entirely to market forces. The council should be able to exercise some control over the mix of businesses in a town centre.
  17. We've got our stuff on there - although we haven't paid a subscription, and we haven't looked into selling our songs yet (as if anyone would want to buy them). I think it's too early to say how effective it is as a marketing tool.
  18. As much as I love punk rock - in it's various incarnations - I've never really been into the pistols. I never really saw them as political or revolutionary... the pseudo-nihilistic attitude always seemed devoid of substance. And the music never resonated with me, unlike the Clash, Ramones, Dead Kennedys, etc. It always seemed that with the pistols, the aesthetics were more important.
  19. Sorry to hear about this Noosh, hope this doesn't affect your confidence too much. But don't be too hard on Jah Lush - I made the same mistake when reading the original post.
  20. will - nice pics, what is the cluster of tall buildings in west london in the 2012 pic?

  22. Huguenot, come back! London needs you, and your powers of precognition. http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/files/2009/01/minority_report_interface.png
  23. I also assumed they were wind turbines. God knows who's going to pay 400k or whatever to live in E&C though. Maybe buyers will see it as a long term investment or something.
  24. BelowtheBelt - this is not news to any of us... but people don't often mention it because they don't think it's constructive to propagate stereotypes. It's also important not to confuse correlation and causation.
  25. Yeah, I don't think you can claim that human-like intelligence will inevitably be achieved, just by throwing computing power at the problem.
