  2. I'm actually thinking of getting a Toyota... do you think I can get a hefty discount if I buy one with a faulty mat?
  3. Is this the problem with the accelerator getting caught on the foot mat? It's only happened a handful of times - and surely if it happened to you, you'd just stick the car in neutral and pull over... right?
  4. Great idea James. Do you know where I can see a map covering the streets immediately to the north of this?

  6. Sometimes that means there's a "forbidden" word in the post. I think the word "specialist" used to prevent posts working. Not sure if it still does. Edited to say - obviously it doesn't...

Another thumbs down here for Sue and PeckhamRose's signatures being removed/changed. Still - I guess there's not a lot we can do about it.

I'm not sure I agree with this, where I live there are plenty of irresponsible owners of bull breed dogs, who let them run around pavements and grass verges without a lead. Mainly young guys - I doubt they own them because of their loyal and loving qualities. Far from a skewed perspective, I think it's becoming increasingly common. I think there should be much greater control over who can own these animals - for the sake of the public and the dogs themselves. I also think they should be muzzled when not on a leash.
  9. Yep, I would be very surprised if Jones managed to pull off a decent performance. (OK so he looked good against Lacy recently... but Lacy is pretty poor and was never a deserving champ). The interesting question for me is, where does Hopkins go after this? Surely he only has one or two more fights left in him. I'd like to see him against Chad Dawson, Lucian Bute, or maybe the winner of the Super Six tournament. I know he's been going on about fighting Haye, but I think that's very unlikely (and could be a very dangerous move).
  10. You may have also forgot that he won't stop boxing until he retires.
  11. Ah, but in Roy's own words... Ya'll Must've Forgot When I beat Bernard Hopkins and won the IBF The right was hurt beat him with the left Ya'll Must've Forgot

Of course any dog can act violently if reared badly. But some breeds of dogs are known to be potentially more aggressive towards other dogs. And of course with the bull terrier types, they are capable of fatally injuring most other dogs, or even people. It's quite worrying that these animals often end up in the hands of irresponsible owners.
  13. There isn't a single drugs testing board for boxing, as far as I know... it varies depending on the country or state. I can understand Mayweather being unhappy with the standard of the testing, but surely this is something he should take up with the Nevada commission or whoever. He shouldn't have the right to impose his own rules.
  14. It seems to have snowed a little bit. I had agreed to drive the in-laws on a sort of day trip today... does anyone know what the conditions are like? Is there enough grip to drive?
  15. I don't think traffic wardens are necessarily the servants of society you make them out to be. Many of them use predatory tactics, or give tickets to people who are parked legally - just in case they get away with it. And coming to think of it - why do traffic wardens in London need to use cars anyway?
  16. Leave it for another hour and a half. In the meantime... cook some roast potatoes and open a bottle of wine...

    Apple's iPad

Bob, I think you're missing the point somewhat. This isn't a replacement for a phone or a proper computer. It's something in between... something Apple are hoping people will buy in addition to the other things. Yeah I'm sure it's a cool gadget, but what would you actually use it for?
  18. Yeah, not sure I've witnessed too much "Islamic oppression" in Peckham, personally. Although let's face it, Rye Lane is a bit of a dump...
  19. I heard the same thing about the Salters ducks. I read it was a mis-calculation which lead to the extra zero being added to the estimate, but make of that what you will...
  20. Do I have a problem with people wearing them? Not as such. Do I have a problem with a culture which forces/encourages women to wear them? Yes. Banishing the garment is not going to fix the underlying issue.
  21. NickW - I think you're a bit out of order there. While the leaflet dropper wouldn't have wound me up enough to start a thread about it, it would definitely annoy me.
  22. Digital pianos... smaller, cheaper, often sound better. Saxophone, anyone? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21LoBWpH7yL._SL500_AA280_.jpg
  23. There's no way Hatton will fight Cotto!
  24. All this stuff with Mayweather is really bad for boxing. He needs to fight a top WW contender, and there's no excuse for the Mosley fight not to happen. This couldn't happen in any other sport. Imagine that Chelsea had never played Man U, or Nadal had never played Federer!
