How else can you judge what something is worth, other than what someone will pay for it? Whether someone "deserves" a salary or not... that's a different matter, but since when was salary correlated with contribution to society?

Atila Reincarnate Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'd rather people stopped sticking for the talentless pratt In that case your argument is purely one of taste/opinion... which is fair enough, everybody has one. But don't make it out to be something more than that!
  4. How do you judge what salary someone is "worth"? The fact is that we live in a society where the value of labour, services, products - in fact almost anything - is determined by how much people are willing to pay. It's a free market economy. Let's see how much money Sky offer him! Yeah it sticks in the throat that some people earn millions, but what do you want to do about it? Would you rather have a communist "wage grid" system for everyone?
  5. James - good news, thanks for the update!
  6. You might be getting the terminology confused. The ED to London Bridge train is "National Rail"... "London Overground" is a different thing altogether.
  7. Toney would still be a major force in boxing if he could stay away from McDonalds.
  8. Which part of Logy were you in? I lived in Lower Logy for a while, near Buckfast-upon-Throcking.
  9. Yep, Tyson was 5'11. Roy Jones Jr is also 5'11, remember he won the WBA belt from Ruiz. David Tua is 5'10, I'm pretty sure he held one of the major titles at some point. Still... it's a valid point, Tyson was certainly short for a heavyweight.
  10. There are some important differences between London and Madrid though. The tube is much older, so there are complex issues with legacy infrastructure. Also costs of labour and land are much higher over here.

Possibly. The train is fine most of the time, but a pain in the arse in the evenings. One train every 30 minutes is a bit shit.
  12. I quite liked his chat show. And his series on Japan was very good.
  13. Only Parklife and London Calling (assuming we're discounting copies/downloads)
  14. It's not as simple as that. Mayweather is asking for testing over and above the usual requirements. Manny should not be obliged to comply with these demands. Although it does sound a little strange that a boxer claims to be so sensitive to giving a little blood... how much blood has he lost in the ring over the years?

  16. The trains into LB seemed to be running pretty much as normal!
  17. Barry - please tell me where on the southern website we can see updates on the ED - London Bridge routes.
  18. philip walker Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I thought it was awful, as much as I LOVE Izzard, > I thought he was particularly rubbish..! Nah... Jason Priestley was worse, and the evil henchman guy was worse still. Joely Richardson was a bit hammy too. Actually the only decent performances were from Brian Cox and Vanessa Redgrave.
  19. I thought it was OK. The triffids themselves were laughable, but that was always going to be the case. Izzard wasn't as bad as the cap'n suggests. There's not a lot of point comparing it with the book. You can't read a book in 2 hours, while eating dinner on the sofa and drinking a bottle of wine.
  20. Comparing BUPA and NHS costs per head isn't really a fair comparison, as private patients still use NHS services (e.g. GPs, A&E).
  21. Probably Usain Bolt for smashing the 100m & 200m records, by huge margins. Twice. Or maybe Manny Pacquiao for dominating boxing from Bantamweight all the way up to Welterweight.

  23. Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Every bank is making profits now on the back of that investment Gross over-simplification. But you know best.
  24. It's a good point about the snow chains. Should it be a legal requirement to carry them in Dec/Jan/Feb? Or is that overkill?
  25. And Chun Li's "lightning kick" (the one where you thrash the kick button and she shouts "yap yap yap") is most certainly beyond the realms of reasonable force.
