  2. I recently succesfully appealed, but I had an indisputable case. I wouldn't recommend appealing otherwise, as it is a very lengthy process, and if you lose you will end up paying far more than you would have done if you'd paid up straight away. Even though yours seem unfair, technically you didn't leave it time... so unfortunately I don't think you have a leg to stand on. The 5 min rule is a new one to me... but can't see this changing anything in this case.
  3. Yep, her 1k would have only got her a 2 bed pied-a-terre in desirable "Nunhead Village". btw - I'd had never even heard of Dolphin Square until a looked it up just now... but it's not really a part of London I frequent.

  5. Yes. It has been awful for as long as I can remember. Anything important gets sent to work these days, that seems much better than the local service. Unfortunately popping into Silvester Rd will not help you.

And last time I went in there, the stock seemed a bit limited (but it was a while ago).

OK so most people who have ever worked for a large company have fiddled their expenses at some point, but as a politician, she should realise that her actions will be scrutinised in the public eye. But still, I have no time for this Taplin person, or the Daily Mail, or this so-called "news article".
  8. It's a thin line, Magpie. I'd say that racism is the belief that one race is superior to another, and that one's non-physical characteristics are - to an extent - determined by their race. I'd say that Tony's treatement was discrimination, but not racism.
  9. Can you still get "Tandoori Chicken" flavour?
  10. Depends what sort of studio (and music) you're talking about. Lots of top end studios still have huge analogue desks, vintage reverb units, etc etc. And if you're recording proper music, most of the sources will be from microphones.
  11. And don't forget Peckham Rye (aka Bellended Village). It's not exactly the same as the Northern Line in Balham and Tooting though, is it? The Northern line actually goes directly to places you might actually want or need to get to. The East London Line does not.
  12. Hmm... a decent pair of interconnects does make a difference to a point. Worth upgrading the cheap cables that came free with your CD player to something a bit more chunky (and dare I say gold-plated). I've never been one to spend ?100+ on a phono cable though. There's something wrong when your home hi-fi has more expensive cables than the studio in which the music was originally produced.
  13. No, but I remember Balham in 2000 and it was rubbish.
  14. Always thought it looked like a nice place.

Four teenage girls walking around East Dulwich at 11pm is not that common (especially if they were carrying a car radio!). Someone else may have seen them, and could offer a further description. A parent might know that their child was out at that time, and usually hangs around with 3 other friends. Maybe *you* don't find it useful, that's your call. Honestly, objectively... it's only offensive if you find the work "black" offensive.
  17. I've never eaten in a restaurant packed full of children at night in East Dulwich. I don't know which ones you've been going to...
  18. I've said it before, I'll say it again... you can't say the "B" word on here without offending someone. But "4 black teenage girls" is a very useful description in the eyes of any rational person. Well done for being a conscientious neighbour, Spartacus. Although I'm surprised that anyone steals car radios these days, I thought standard dimension head units were a thing of the past?
  19. Yep, Camper shoes last absolutely ages!

    ED Flash Mob

Didn't someone suggest a flash mob in Foxtons some while ago?
  21. Calm down Tiger... what's it got to do with "poshness"? Or "petrol vehicles"?
  22. Quicksand - Martha & The Vandellas
  23. Ah, that's the honk we know and love. Richers is fine... it may not be top end, but you can get a "proper" hi-fi for not much cash. Their TVs are usually well priced too.
  24. I think the best thing they could do in Peckham would be to knock down the modern buildings which surround the station. Open up the original forecourt, expose original architecture, make the area feel lighter and safer.
