If I was travelling on my own, I would go with my first suggestion. Personally I avoid buses as I find the timing is unpredictable, but I think we've had this conversation before!
  3. Northern Line to Moorgate, Hammersmith & City to Paddington, Heathrow Express. Northern Line to Bank, Central Line to Holborn, Picadilly Line to Heathrow Taxi to Paddington, Heathrow Express Taxi all the way
  4. Living in The Real World - Blondie
  5. Tapin Up My Heart - Mr T Experience
  6. Someone should open a bar/club at the old site of the dream machine. It would be dingy enough to satisfy those of us who miss Inside 72.
  7. She's Coming (Over Tonight) - Mr T Experience
  8. No so, Sue. Organic paint + reclaimed materials + energy efficient bulbs + local organic vegetable box = "eco holiday", apparently. Despite the heated swimming pool.

No. There will be 4 of you.
  10. Tas is pretty average IMO. It's inexpensive and serves its purpose, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way for.

The T-bone (which is very similar) used to be pretty common, didn't it? Until the beef-on-the-bone ban was introduced off the back of the BSE scare. Not really seen it since.

I wouldn't mind rain, if we had a decent summer to balance it out. But we rarely do. Give me a mediterranean climate any day! Luckily there's other things I like about this place. > Possibly there's an element of snobbery in some > people, but I reiterate that I think it would be > terribly misguided. I think there is some misguided snoberry around (hence the Hyacinth Bucket analogy, although I hate that TV show). But not a lot.
  13. If we're talking porterhouse steak, it has to be Peter Luger's, Brooklyn (I believe Wolfgangs is one of several newer restaurants opened by former Peter Luger employees). A porterhouse (US defintion) is very similar to a UK T-bone... with maybe a slighty higher ratio of fillet to strip-loin.

It has been on the market for ages, obviously nobody has shown an interest yet... I imagine they will be there until they get a buyer. Also don't rule out the possibility of someone buying the business and continuing to run it.
  15. ...but the weather here does suck doesn't it? Of course there is an element of snobbery here, I'm sure there are a few modern-day Hyacinth Buckets around who need a reality check... but it is the exception rather than the rule in my experience.
  16. Yep, the question is deliberately biased. Of course in an ideal world everybody would have access to excellent healthcare. But in reality, I'm not going to turn down the medical insurance I get with my job... and we live in a country where anyone can get NHS treatment (which in my opinion is still pretty good). I don't really have a problem with it.
  17. Boards Of Canada - Geogaddi Trans Am - Red Line Bracket - Requiem Mike TV - Lie Low Lilo
  18. I was talking about McD's, not Lidl chorizo...

My actual diagram was hidden because it's blocked at work (presumably as it contains the work "facebook"! fascists!). I'm actually : Economic Left/Right: -3.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.00 But this isn't what I was expecting either... oh well.
  22. I'm very much in the middle, ever-so-slightly top left of centre ("authoritarian left"). Not the one I would have picked beforehand, I must say. The same quadrant as Pope Benedict XVI (ouch) and Robert Mugabe (double ouch).

  24. I agree Louisa, we're all entitled to our own opinion regarding taste, quality, and value for money!

I would agree that there is a distinction between the shopping habits of *some* of the old guard and some of the newer residents (not all... because you really can't generalise like that). That doesn't make anyone a snob though, and it doesn't mean that just because you don't like a shop, nobody else should go there! East Dulwich still has Iceland and Sainsburys. We have Lidl and Aldi stores a short drive away. There's plenty of choice for everyone.
