  1. seanmlow - do you think that most of the estate agents will be able to sustain themselves throughout 2009 through lettings income?
  2. Thrashing... beating... strained wrist... just like being a teenager all over again.
  3. Bit cynical regarding Tiger Woods perhaps, but other than that... agreed.

Well, Tiger Woods very publically declared himself "mixed race", rather than black. To which Colin Powell commented, "In America, when you look like me, you're black". It's kind of interesting how for historical reasons, society still feels the need to draw a distinction, even when the lines are blurred.
  5. Do you think this review is genuine? ----- Posted by Jack Smith (registered user) on 28 May 2008 17:17 I have been eating curry for a long time, i have been criticising food for 12 years and 8 years professionally. What is it with this place that tickles my taste buds and made me miss my train? I walked into not a restaurant but a rich and vibrant culture. The restaurant is run purely by family and all the customers refer to the waiters by their names. Then i met the owner a smiley, jolly and beautiful man who has so much passion for the trade. My guest and i were entertained by the whole family and the food was cooked for the Moghuls- Definately value for money. The starters were good but the main course were phenominal rich, flavoursom and a joy. Great stuff Pistachio and well done on your recent award for Distinguished Service and Quality. http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/reviews/4186.html
  6. The "red chicken curry" is quite nice at Pistachio club. And the boal (fish) is a good bet too. hmmmmm... hungry.

  8. Yep, you're barking up the wrong tree there jim.
  9. OK, I didn't realise they had moved. Not sure I agree with keying their cars though!

Actually, I don't care that much. But it's interesting to see the fuss these things can cause...
  11. My house back on to the tracks a couple of hundred metres along the line, and they've done the same there... it's not just the station. Basically, it's a lot cheaper to completely demolish all the trees every 10-15 years than it is to prune them once a year.
  12. I don't think any of us like to see people out of work. But they were an awful company, for so many reasons I can't be bothered to go into now. I'm glad the company is no more, but I sympathise with individuals who have lost a job.
  13. I don't think there's much point differentiating between working class and middle class, because the boundry is so easily trascended these days. There's no reason why people from a "working class" background can't get a good education and good job, and there's no reason why a "middle class" person can't become a dropout. I know some people disagree with me, but that's the way I feel.

I do pretty much agree with you there, actually. But some people look at the same evidence and reach very different conclusions, probably based on what they already believe deep down. Is it really possible to be open minded about these things?
  15. To be objective here, it's hard for a christian to "win" when discussing the bible with an atheist. If they take the bible literally, then they're lunatic who is disregarding scientific fact. If they take it metaphorically, than they're picking and choosing which bits to believe, which casts the whole book into doubt!
  16. That's right. Free internet access, and free coffee brought by a nice, smiling young man!
  17. I see where you guys are coming from... but at least I've provided some sort of substance to back up my point of view!! I just don't like it when people use "class" as an excuse for various things. Certainly some people are born with advantages over the rest of us... but that doesn't mean that you can't succeed in your chosen field, regardless of what percevied "class" your parents were lumped into.
  18. Is there a dish there you'd particularly recommend, Sue?
  19. I wasn't overly impressed with Curry Cabin, but I may have chosen badly. Too greasy and not enough flavour (other than chilli and garlic).
  20. East Dulwich Forum drinks Women's Institute (if you are female) Join a sports team (if you're sporty) Choir (if that's your bag) Church (if you're religious) Join the Facebook group for singles in ED (if you are single) East Dulwich Forum Curry Club (if you like curry) East Dulwich Forum Running group (if you like running) erm... can't think of anything else right now.
  21. Sandperson, look up the history of Gordon Brown, Tony Blair, John Major, Maragaret Thatcher. Look up their parents and their grandparents. None of them are from rich or "upper class" families.
  22. Coney Island in Cincinnati? Well, you learn something every day...
  23. I must admit that I am quite curious to hear this evidence...
