  1. People still like trad pubs - when they're nice. Not when they stink of 10 year old fags and your feet stick to the floor.
  2. If he can't give you a quote for the job ("an extra ?80 if it takes me longer"? Seriously?) I'd avoid. I'd expect to pay maybe ?200-?250 a day for labour. Materials shouldn't be expensive for repointing a wall. If this waterproofing additive is his excuse, maybe ask him to leave it out?
  3. Acid rain...
  4. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I can take you or any other forumite to numerous old school pubs out in the burbs. Right. So just because pubs still exist, "pub culture is alive and kicking in the suburbs"? Nope. I grew up in the suburbs (as did many of us), there were three pubs in my (not posh) village. Only one is left now (and it has been turned into some sort of Harvester/Beefeater type place). Similar story everywhere. Traditional pubs are in terminal decline. A few are left in Nunhead and Peckham (btw the Castle is not "unchanged"), but they are not busy.
  5. Looks open to me... there were certainly people eating in there the last couple of times I went past.
  6. Pub culture alive and kicking in the suburbs?? No, they've all been turned into mini Tescos. Rough-around-the-edges pubs in ED have all survived, unchanged? I can't name even one.
  7. Did the right thing by addressing the forum. We will continue to use Little Clipper.
  8. In the day - yes, mainly for food. But in the evening it's still more about drink.
  9. God no... disgusting...
  10. I thought it was the approximate cost of oil and other sundries.
  11. No you are right KK, De Mori was out cold for a few minutes, and was later taken to hospital.
  12. Yep, crossed wires I think! Apparently he was taken to hospital for concussion, but I assume he's OK, as we haven't heard otherwise. It's the kind of mismatch we should never see, especially not at heavyweight. Where next for Haye? Hopefully someone with a pulse. People are talking about Anthony Joshua, but I think Haye might have his eye on the new IBF champ, Charles Martin. Then he'd have a great bargaining chip for a fight with Joshua, Wilder, Fury, etc. Don't think he'll fancy taking on Wlad again.
  13. Yep... without wanting to spoil it... Rey developing skills practically instantaneously seemed really lazy. Maybe a result of aggressive editing? Apparently there's half an hour or so extra footage ready for the blu-ray release.
  14. Ah... by "out for so long"... do you mean out cold after the KO? Or out of action before the fight?
  15. The problem is that there are too many nostalgic middle-aged men, who are convinced that the original trilogy was somehow more profound or important than it really was. And they're holding the new film up to that benchmark. None of the films are particularly smart. They're family-friendly action/adventure/fantasy. Silly, but good fun.
  16. It's a bit of a clich? (at least on this forum) that more suburban parts of London and the home counties are full of racist bigots. I don't think you should base your judgement on one experience.
  17. They didn't make it for 45yr old fanboy nerds. They made it for kids. A new generation of fans who will buy all the toys. Visually it's quite a spectacle, and I thought Rey was good. Basically its as good as can be expected.
  18. KK, I think your source of info is dodgy.
  19. Was really quite worried about the guy for a minute or two after the KO. He had no business being in that ring. Wasn't capable of defending himself.
  20. Boxing rankings are pretty mysterious. Each body has their own system, and the top 10 is usually completely different for each one. So you'd usually expect #10 in one body's rankings to probably be around the #40 mark overall. Nevertheless, I was still surprised at just how utterly hopeless he was.
  21. Is it a steel bath? If so, leave it out by the pavement and it will be gone by lunchtime.
  22. Not for Haye it's not!! Anyway.. gut feeling is that by the time Haye works his way up to a title shot, he'll be too far past his peak.
  23. Is it acceptable to compress the decomposed remains into a 1 ft cube? Or do the bits of bones and mush need to be laid out in a certain pattern?

This. We expect drivers to watch out for pedestrians, and stick to a speed where they could quickly stop if necessary. Same should apply to cyclists.
  25. American cake recipes always seem to go something like: 1 cup yellow cake mix 1/2 cup butter 1 egg
