  1. Yes the prices are steep... ?13.00 for burger or f&c in a pub is a bit too much IMO. But Fox.. the ?6 beers on the back wall are craft keg, not real ale. Ales (hand pull) are on the main bar, and are a couple of quid cheaper. Maybe you missed them?
  2. Yes, lowering the ceilings is very common... should definitely be the first option to investigate. Raising the roof height falls outside of permitted development, and I think you're very unlikely to get planning approved for it. However - some builders (naming no names) cheekily raise the roof apex by 5-10cm or so, assuming nobody will notice/complain. Depends how comfortable you are with bending the rules.
  3. If she does the Seoul stopover... one day is enough...
  4. Society is much more tolerant to flirtatious behaviour from women - even in a professional environment. It doesn't really bother me all that much. But I'm amused at the sanctimony and hypocrisy of the habitually offended.
  5. Power - in what sense of the word? I'd suggest a hollywood sleb or a sportsperson is in a position of power over their interviewer...
  6. One day I will make my second appearance at the curry club... one day...
  7. A real ukulele, or "Ukulele 1"?

  9. "Technically" was clearly a poor choice of words, knowing that you'd be waiting to swoop in. I have already stated my rationale. Not interested in discussing further.
  10. If a man does it, it's threatening and predatory. If a woman does it, it's a compliment. Or something like that.
  11. SE22 - East Dulwich. SE15 - Peckham and Nunhead. That's the commonly accepted, modern border But please... feel free to enthrall us with historical parish boundries...
  12. It's in Peckham.
  13. rendelharris - ignore edhistory... he's always doing this.
  14. rendelharris - basically you live right on the border of Camberwell, East Dulwich and Peckham... but it's technically in Peckham.
  15. Not judging fox, I was just curious (I like a couple of beers in the evening too...)
  16. Have I misunderstood your post, Fox? You say you drink very little alcohol. But mentioned something about drinking 3 pints a night, every night... which is really quite a lot...
  17. Before the London Bridge work started I think the service from ED was OK - and hopefully it will be once again when the work is complete. Trains every ten minutes to LB is a good frequency (on par with some tube lines). Think the people who suffer most are those who don't live near a station (or have mobility issues) and have to rely on the bus.

Really? 800 sqft is the space I'd expect in a 2 bed flat for 550-600K. I have no problem with someone building a house there - or trying to flog it - but the price is daft.
  19. Objectively - Appetite was a defining album of the genre and the era. But I've got no time at all for the tedious, self indulgent stadium rock that followed.
  20. Yeah what Otta said.. I'm no fan of organised religion, and Islam has as many problems as any of them. But any step to improve their relationship/integration with the community has to be positive.
  21. Knockin on Heavens Door, for me, is the antithesis of this thread. I was a teenage GnR fan when it came out (and didn't know the original at the time) and I loved it. In hindsight... the song is utter shit. (BTW Otta, didn't mean to PM you - accidentally hit the wrong button!)
  22. Renata - look a bit closer! It's not in the park/common, it's happening in various bars around the area...
  23. uncleglen - maybe not planning permission, but should fall under building control so the council can verify that correct drainage has been installed.
  24. Ah, they're just trying to make it sound trendy (and it isn't)
  25. I know what you mean, but not really sure it's "refreshing" as such... boxers always talk up their chances before a fight, because I think confidence and self-belief is such a big part of the sport. Pretty unusual for any boxer to talk like that, unless they're a journeyman lamb-to-the-slaughter type fighter.
