    Sorry Bromley

Is that the funny slowed-down computer game music, that was vaguely popular for a few weeks? Wasn't aware it came from Croydon.
  2. Strong words Blah Blah... there's no law against such unsolicited offers. But I'd be amazed if they actually considered it.

That's a huge generalisation LondonMix. Yes there was a wave of Polish builders 10-15 years ago who seemed very hard working and earned a good reputation, but I'm not convinced it still holds true. There are good ones and bad ones (i.e. just like every other nationality).

I don't actively dislike Bromley... from certain angles you can even convince yourself it's nice-ish... but there's just nothing of interest there, it's just generic, bland middle England. You could be anywhere.

The UK is dependent on migrant workers.. from highly skilled knowledge based industries, down to the daily services we all depend on. Surely leaving the EU will just add layers of bureaucracy to the process of hiring workers, with a similar net result. Doesn't seem ideal to me. Also for illegal immigrants working cash-in-hand... leaving the EU won't make any difference will it?
  7. I'm in two minds about this one. While I'd be quite happy to take a punch and a bit of verbal from Clarkson in exchange for 100K, it doesn't seem like justice has been done.

Seabag sounds like a man who has never been to Hartlepool...

Yeah used to be alright music-wise with a couple of rehearsal studios, instrument shops, a couple of venues, and some interesting record shops... especially "Shake Some Action" - a decrepit indie/punk record shop which had in-store gigs. But it was still bloody grim. There's major redevelopment going on... not sure whether a soulless "Westfield" centre and loads of new-build apartments will be that much of an improvement, but they can't really make it much worse...
  11. It is a shit sign. But those beer prices are alright. ?4.60 for a pint of Lagunitas is pretty good - in fact looks like a typo..
  12. I'm sure it is a perfectly good restaurant. And the story is a nice little curiosity. But I take TripAdvisor ratings with a pinch of salt (no pun intended).
  13. I doubt it's even the best Italian in SE London.
  14. Yep, inevitably it's going to get used for pick-ups and drop-offs. Especially bearing in mind that a large chunk of SE22 is not really close to any station.

    Breaking Bad

He arguably had good intentions during the first/second seasons... by the fourth season they had disappeared and he was consumed with greed, and it was pretty hard to see any shred of goodness within him. Better Call Saul is good... an altogether more lighthearted affair, but have been enjoying it so far.
  16. While I'm broadly on your side here BlahBlah, falling back on articles written by economists will only get you so far. Economists - like the rest of us - have wildly varying opinions, ideologies, motivations, and political persuasions. The university professor is unlikely to give you the same answers as the Goldman Sachs macroeconomic expert!
  17. Well, people are supporting the conversion of a car park into something else, so maybe not that ironic. The real irony is that if Peckham keeps changing at this rate... before long it will actually need a multi-storey car park.
  18. Yep fox is def right about processed meat being carcinogenic (however, I don't think a decent quality burger falls into the "processed meat" category).
  19. Corbyn seems to think re-opening the coal mines is viable. So must be true.
  20. In what way is Boris "very clever"? I'm sure he exaggerates elements of his personality to influence people, but that doesn't make him some sort of evil genius. It just makes him a politician.
  21. Stay. Better for employment/economy. Better for the industry I work in.
  22. Taking the court Lane bumps at a diagonal angle softens the impact... ahem.. so I hear. Won't do your car much good though!
  23. Yep, that Dead Doll place always looked dead. The concept was seriously out of step with the area. Hope they manage to turn it around.
  24. Personal preference - I wouldn't usually go to a pub for a "proper" meal, we'd go to a restaurant instead.

Not sure if that was aimed at me or not - but yes, I'm thinking along the same lines. A multi-purpose space. Extra dining space for that all-important sunday roast. Kids events during the day. Function room. Gigs. Club meetings, etc. Should it become a community co-op, I think that would be a great compromise - rather than trying to establish it primarily as a venue. I wonder if the kitchen could go upstairs to create more space?
