  1. Absolutely nothing wrong with eating on the train or bus. If it's particularly smelly or messy, or they leave rubbish lying around, then that's one thing. Otherwise... mind your own!
  2. I dunno, Bob has a point (albeit one which *should* be obvious)... it's really stupid not to talk your plans over with your neighbours first. It may be possible to resolve any concerns amicably face-to-face, rather than them having to object to your plans via the council, etc.
  3. TBH I'm pretty much with Senor Chevalier. The increased popularity for family urban living means that affluent professionals will want to extend their homes as much as possible - and it's their legal right to do so. There's not much you can do to stop the trend. Making a fuss about it won't stop your neighbours doing the work, it will only make your life less pleasant. Like the planes... and the traffic.. it's part of urban living.
  4. I prefer my lamb pink too... but fox is right, any fat needs to charred to a crisp.
  5. Those guys are very, very smart operators. Yes it's a bit lame pretending to be edgy/rebellious/cool when they've become so big. But nevertheless they're masters of publicity. The beer's not the best around, but it is decent... and you can buy it EVERYWHERE.

While it sounds like we all agree it's too expensive... comparing the price with mass produced supermarket items is pointless, and TBH bloody annoying.

Well I'd suggest this is the Tories own spin rather than genuine public perception. They tell us that theirs is a compassionate brand of conservatism and that they are the new centre ground. When in fact economically they are hard right/Thatcherite. Sure, the financial crisis could have been partially mitigated by tighter/smarter regulation, but a) all major financial centres were hit hard, b) historically the Tories are a party of financial DEregulation, c) they (or even the FSA) had no clue what was about to happen or what specific regulations would have been needed.
  9. Because he talks the centrist/Blairite language... a pragmatic pro-business approach coupled with aspirations of social justice. And he's a better speaker than his brother.
  10. Get back to your topless darts... you utter fool.
  11. Yeah I'm sure that was the case until recently, but if you look at the article in the OP... Philip Green sold BHS (for ?1) last year. It's now owned by a consortium of (misguided) investors.

Is brick house the same price for eat in and "takeaway"? TBH ?1.50 for eating in wouldn't bother me (especially if toasted and buttered), but it's a bit steep if you're just buying to eat at home later. Brick house bread is still great though.

Clearly the supermarket comparison is ridiculous/predictable/tedious, but nevertheless, Brick House is pretty expensive...

Yes maybe. Either that, or let Labour be Labour. And the blairites, centrists, and social democrats can splinter off. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) sounds like a nice catchy name. Then they could merge with the Lib Dems to form the Liberal Democratic Democrats.

  16. Yep... all the above really. Before Corbyn won the leadership, I said that if he got in, it would give the Tories free reign to pass the most unpopular policies with no effective opposition...
  17. Yeah Cravings isn't "gourmet" as such, it's pretty "rustic" type stuff but it's pretty decent. The cheese stuffed arepas and the deep fried things (tostadas?) were my favourites. They don't help themselves with the lighting/music/decor, but I would probably not eat in anyway.
  18. Street food being repackaged for sit-down dining is hardly new... strange criticism. Each to their own though.
  19. Gotta say... I hate the bus at the best of times, but that 78 is just painful.

I think this was the case in the past, but these days (since the decline of the serve-and-volley) I think the men's is more entertaining.
  21. But given we are (presumably) talking about tournaments with both men and womens competitions, where ticketing, TV rights, advertising etc all come as a "package", is it right to try to differentiate the income they bring in? I'm not convinced that number of sets played is a great argument, because taking account of all the training and travelling, you have to assume they work just as hard as the men year round. Although saying that, I'd like to see the women playing five sets in the quarters/semis/finals of grand slams.
  22. Really don't know what you're talking about...

  24. Asking whether DulwichFox has tried Mr Bao is like asking whether I've bought the new Michael Buble album. It ain't going to happen - but we're still going to let you know our opinion. Besides, who wants to try something new, when you could have a granary roll. With a nice bit of corned beef.
