  1. Yeah... people often think they're playing it safe with a fixed rate... but to my way of thinking, if you get a fixed rate mortgage then you are gambling that rates are going to rise. But take anything anyone says on here with a pinch of salt, you're probably already as clued up (or clueless, take your pick) as anyone else on the forum.
  2. That does sound competitive. Maybe worth going for if the booking fee is low and you're 100% sure you won't need to sell in the next two years?
  3. Personally I don't think I'd ever go fixed again. I got my first mortgage in 2002 on a 5 year fixed rate, and even though rates rose steadily from 4% to 5.75% during that time, I still would have paid less overall if I'd been on a tracker. And the early repayment charges can be very large.
  4. No audio at work... what does he say?

I guess they're more costly than regular cameras.
  6. I agree, he seems to switch off. People say he's chinny, but I think discipline is more his problem. All that skill, speed and heart... but he gets caught when he could have covered up, or even darted back out of range. Nevertheless, I quite like him (even though he says stupid things) and I think he could maybe beat Brook. As for Canelo, I can see why he's popular as he's always entertaining. But I'm kinda sick of this catchweight thing. You want to call yourself the middleweight champ, then fight GGG at the full weight, and then let's see what happens!
  7. It's a shame, as (by all accounts) Amir was doing very well for the first 4 rounds. But that was very, very sloppy indeed.. he should have seen that shot coming from a mile off... but he had both hands down and chin up in the air.

The technology is not quite there yet... both in terms of security and authentication. Estonia have online voting.. they have the authentication part sorted by means of a mandatory smart ID card, but the security is still a big concern.

The south/east of SE22 is a bit of a public transport black spot... I suspect quite a few people from round there drive to the station, rather than walk for 20+ mins or using the bus.
  10. ??, my point is that it's not all bad - it very much depends on the road. I'm happy to live with the drawbacks and the small-ish fee to park right outside my house. But if I was paying for a permit, and it was STILL hard to find a space, I'd probably be less than ecstatic. Also, some parts of SE22 don't really have a parking problem, therefore a CPZ is unnecessary.
  11. When I was at school (i.e. not particularly recently and not in Southwark), our school hall was used for voting... the school day went on as normal, we just didn't use the hall that day. Problem is the security in schools is much tighter these days, so it would probably no longer be possible to do something like that (depending on the layout of the school).
  12. I live in a CPZ now, and much prefer it.

  14. I used them just a couple of weeks ago (pretty poor wash, though)
  15. Let me settle this for you - neither were funny.

  17. Pretty much every new residential development in London is marketed as "luxury". Of course, they are nothing of the sort.

    Moth trouble

Moth repellent in wardrobes and under furniture works well. Rotate your furniture and vacuum thoroughly in every nook and cranny. Plus having a few sprays around the house so you can zap them when they appear.
  21. I would say that any science degree without Maths is going to be very tough - even if she meets the entrance requirements, she will be at a real disadvantage. Although some universities might offer a foundation year covering the necessary Maths and Chemistry?
  22. I also thought the statement Jah posted was very good (I wouldn't expect a statement from "Jewish Socialist" to be unbiased, but I agreed with a lot of it) I think some people feel that criticism of Israel - when not accompanied by criticism of, say, Russia, Venezuela, Iran, etc. - is unbalanced and unjustified. Maybe it is. But that still doesn't make it racist...

Wouldn't be surprised if the current/previous owner partitioned it up. It is just a converted Victorian terrace, right? Rooms were probably a pretty normal size originally.
