"The online app said it was close then it just disappeared off the list". Has happened to me a few times too (on a different route). You're told the bloody thing is a couple of minutes away, but it never materialises. Also, checking the app in advance isn't much help when you need to get another bus or train first!

It's nonsense, it's > discussed endlessly It's a taboo subject within liberal circles though... specifically because there will always be one worthier-than-thou person who is offended by a balanced discussion.
  5. RRR - yes you could argue that if the govt don't provide proportionately more social housing, then that's their fault (or ours for voting them in, if you like). I wouldn't really disagree. But realistically I don't see it happening any time soon.

I largely agree with you... probably the majority of those against immigration fall into the category you describe.
  7. Well immigration has put increased pressure on public services - housing in particular. This isn't to say that I'm anti-immigration by any stretch, but it's a more nuanced matter than many will admit. Or are capable of understanding, in some cases.
  8. Anti-immigration sentiment is not always a straight case of racism. If I was in need of social housing and there was none available, I'd probably be anti-immigration to an extent. Those of us in privileged positions often tend to just see the more positive sides of immigration...
  9. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But just the use of the word bespoke makes it > sound so ludicrous before you've even started. Yeah partly that. And also because it sounds like something you'd do in The Hamptons, not in SE London.

But > that doesn't mean for a second that wanting to > leave is automatically racist. You're right of course. It's obvious, and shouldn't need to be spelled out. But hey.
  11. I've no idea what you're going on about Foxy.
  12. I'm firmly "remain" from a point-of-view of trade and commerce. But can appreciate why others may feel there's much to be gained by breaking free from such a hugely bureaucratic body. It's a complicated matter... not just an issue of far-right xenophobia.
  13. Children's entertainers - yeah sure. But "party planners" for small children's birthdays? Not something I've ever experienced. And nor do I want to.
  14. I thought it was a (poorly disguised) plug for "Dazzle and Fizz". And if that is a joke, it's a rather elaborate one...
  15. steveo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I can't recall my fifth but I probably got a clump > round the ear and a stone or maybe a dandelion Sounds like an authentic, bespoke experience Steve.
  16. IMO - let kids be kids, and leave your aspirational one-upmanship out of it. Party rings, monster munch, sausage rolls, cherryade, pass-the-parcel. Job done.
  17. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1684530 "Bespoke party planning" for a five year old. Yep. Either this will be removed (for the blatant self-promotion it is) or it will be ripped to shreds...
  18. Seabag Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's called Pitt Cue Yes, Pitt Cue... that's the one. Yeah it was really good, very much my type of food. I just found the pickle back thing (and some of the other customers) a bit daft. The queue was dafter still. New site sounds OK, but looking at the menu, might as well be a completely different restaurant. Also, appears to be only open during the week... so unlikely to try it any time soon...
  19. Huh. Looks like other Inn Keepers Lodge hotels indeed have a Harvester attached, so I suppose it's not out of the question! My brother actually IS a big fan of Harvester, so we sometimes go for brunch with the kids. It's certainly cheap, I'll give it that. You tend to see some rather oddly-shaped people stuffing themselves with the unlimited continental* breakfast. * who knew that continental Europeans also eat rice krispies and toast for breakfast? They're just like us after all. I'm voting "remain"!!
  20. You have a point miga, it's not an obvious location for a hotel. But it's pretty close to North Dulwich station. And I can think of several other, fairly nice/boutique hotels in suburban London, so it's not out of the question (especially if did they weddings too).
  21. Let's hope our new mayor does a U-turn on his uber crackdown... it's becoming an essential service in a city with such unreliable public transport.
  22. Wow, a budget hotel... what a kick in the teeth for the village. Seemed like a perfect site for a boutique hotel with a nice little bar/restaurant on the ground floor. Still, I'm sure people will find it useful.

  24. Yeah... what's that trendy bbq place in Soho called... went there soon after it opened and there were people in there downing shots of bourbon followed by a shot of pickle brine, probably blogging in real-time about how totally amazeballs it was. Waiter tried to get us to order it too... no frickin way...
