    My first car

Think Seabag wins. It looks like one of Mr Miyagi's classic cars...

    My first car

One of these... Thought it was OK at the time... looks pretty embarrassing now....
  3. But London tourism keeps an awful lot of people in work...
  4. Never eaten at any of Rick Stein's restaurants... but I don't mind him on the TV. IMO it's more admiring other food/cultures than sneering at our own. The show I really don't like is the Gordon Ramsay one, where he goes into a "restrant", spits out the food and swears at the owner, then gets a team of decorators in and has a grand re-opening.

  6. Yes, I'm sure there would be a handful of hardcore year-round swimmers.
  7. I'm not really sure how you could do something like this without causing any damage... unless there's some sort of giant frame/canvas you can stand on the floor up against the wall?
  8. Fox has a point though. I'm sure some would enjoy using it all year round, but not sure how many. Obviously, should this plan come to fruition, I'd be delighted to be proved wrong.
  9. Cracking an egg to find a dead baby chick
  10. I like it - but in infrastructure terms, it's unnecessary. Don't know off hand whether this could be justified purely in terms of the tourism industry?

  12. Search Google Maps for residential caravan parks... there are a few just south of London (but still within the M25). There's something on Ilderton Rd too, isn't there?

Maybe. Can't say with any certainty. Rates are likely to rise very very slowly.

  15. Are you talking about the UK equivalent of a "trailer park".. i.e. large static caravans with plumbing, etc. Or the kind of caravan you take on holiday and tow behind a car?

Yes this is also my understanding, but my comment still stands. I tried to commute by bus for a few days earlier this year (I'd broken my foot and couldn't use the train), and I found the service absolutely pathetic. A 30 min wait for connecting services was not unusual.

From my experience of attempting to get the bus to/from work, that one hour window often won't be long enough...

Seabag Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > DulwichFox Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > > > > I've seen Lots Chinese people in Tesco at Surrey Quays.. > > I think you'll find they're Vietnamese Nah, there are absolutely loads of Chinese living in Surrey quays/Canada Water ... grads living in new build flats working for investment banks in canary wharf.
  20. TBH the article is pretty fair... it all feels a little gloomy and down-at-heel. But if the transport links are good, and there's at least one pub/restaurant you like, and the price is right... why not. Pretty much every part of London is moving gradually upmarket... just don't kid yourself that it's going to turn 'posh' any time soon.
  21. Actually despite the rather odd post (sorry flamin...) we got takeaway a while back and it was pretty decent.
  22. The infamous Peckham Triads. Maybe stocking up on dressings, TCP, Savlon, etc following their latest vicious sword battle?

I don't understand why people have a beef with a local business with a steak in the community...

    Breaking Bad

Started watching something called "I-Zombie". About a girl who becomes a zombie, but still tries to live a normal life. She takes a job in a morgue to get a fresh supply of brains to eat. But eating the brains gives her flashbacks from the dead person's memory, and she uses this to solve crimes. I think one episode was enough.

I believe it literally means "fragrant fragrant", but maybe it could be interpreted as "appetising" or something? Yep, I also try to avoid the cloying red sauce dishes. Although I do get an occasional craving for sweet and sour...
