Nobody begrudges you that... not at all. But it seems that some people DO begrudge others spending ?7 (really not a lot of money) on breakfast. It all seems a bit strange.
  2. Besides, three nice eggs probably costs about the same as one cheap frozen chicken breast (I know it's not the point, but stil...)
  3. Louisa... I think we've already established that cooking is cheaper than eating out. Next.
  4. Is this "bullying"?
  5. I meant that it is the kind of pointless trivia a tabloid would report as "news"...
  6. While on one level I admire the sentiment... the station is operated by Southern, isn't it? We pay them a lot of money for their services. They make a decent profit. They should bloody well clean the litter themselves.
  7. Top Gear makes the BBC loads of money through overseas sales. They'll recoup that 100K easily. Enough of the tabloid headlines, uncleglen.
  8. There's a new Mexican takeaway on the corner of Peckham Rye and Nigel Rd - called "Cravings". Next door to the White Horse. Tacos, burritos, empanadas, tostadas, etc.
  9. Bellenden Rd is gentrified. As ? says... while there's a trendy element around Rye Lane, ED-style gentrification seems remote to say the least.
  10. The Cenotaph happened to be in the background (they weren't even all that close) while pulling doughnuts along Whitehall. All very banal, and I can see why some would consider it inappropriate. The producers probably should have stopped it. But honestly - barely newsworthy.

  12. Agree with rahrahrah - for all we know, shell's mum needed the space just as much as the other person. Would contact the police if you get any more threats.
  13. Not been to Crawley... but yeah, it's funny how some places appear superficially pleasant, but are actually pretty down-at-heel with cheap property. And others can look really scruffy, but a small house can cost over ?800K.
  14. Yeah.. but parts of Shoreditch and Hackney look really smart these days, and I think some people roll into Peckham expecting similar levels of gentrification - and get a bit of a shock. Which is fine with me... keeps the Clapham/Hackett/Rubgy boys away.
  15. I'm sure they have Parkdrive. Everyone's welcome to their opinion. TBH I often wonder what people must think, after reading about Peckham being the new Shoreditch/Hackney/whatever... then turn up at the station, and take in Rye Lane in all its glory. In fact, I overheard (OK, eavesdropped) some young, affluent 20-somethings discussing exactly that they other day.
  16. Fuss about nothing... two American presenters were driving round London and creating a racket for a TV show. They'd probably never even heard of the Cenotaph. Apologies have been made and the footage won't get used. End of.
  17. Glad you got your drill back Jenny, and your generosity has been justified!
  18. Well.. you do bang on about the lack of tube quite a lot, rrr! But yes the 37 is crap.

Yep, in terms of accessibility and affordability, it's probably the best. It terms of standard of healthcare - I think it's very good but you can't necessarily say it's better than comparable countries.
  20. The UK doesn't have the best healthcare in the world - despite all the sentimentality. As for the best government in the world? Now I know you're taking the piss...

    Uber

    Uber

dbboy's experience of black cabs differs greatly from mine. Drivers who don't want to go south of the river. Drivers who agree to take you, but moan the whole way. Drivers who, despite doing "the knowledge", need directions to get to your house. Shouting at pedestrians for daring to cross the road. Plenty of bad eggs in that basket. Safety? Uber (or Addison Lee) is safer because there is a record of who picked you up and when. I don't want to drag out the obvious example, but a black cab driver could just as easily be a complete nutter as a minicab driver... and there's no record of you ever being in his car. I dare say black cabs will continue to have their place (taxi ranks outside stations for tourists, etc) but for most journeys, Uber is better in every conceivable way.
  23. Mr Bao is pretty decent. I take back my previous comments about them jumping on the bandwagon because they've kind of added their own twist.. with bao benedict, etc. Staff are always really nice in there.
  24. Aggressive? Wasn't my intention - apologies if I came across that way, but having just looked over the thread I don't see it...
  25. From where I'm sat, it looks like someone essentially telling everyone else on the thread to "get a life". And others arguing their corner with a bit of gentle piss-taking thrown in. Personal attacks? Trolling? Bullying? You must have lived a sheltered life...
