  1. Hi there, Long shot, but....I just went down to my car this morning, and have seen that someone has hit the car and scraped it all down the drivers side, conveniently not leaving a note. There is quite a lot of damage to the drivers side, and it will need to be an insurance job. The car was parked in the parking bay by the second set of traffic lights on Barry Road, by the Underhill road junction, and is a red Puegeot 306. This would have happened between 7.30pm Saturday 20 March and 8.00am Sunday 21 March Heres hoping... Thanks in advance
  2. Yes, a young girl was hit by a truck this morning on the junction. I walked past just before 8.10am and it looked like it had just happened. There was one ambulance guy on the scene already, and the first of the ambulance vans was just arriving then. I would have offered my assistance, but they ambulance guys and bystanders looked like the had it under control as best they could. She looked in bad shape and I am really dismayed to hear that she has passed away. Very, very tragic indeed. My thoughts go out to the families involved.
  3. So, we could have to suffer this terrible disruption until the weather warms up?
  4. I agree, this work is just a joke. Surely, the disruption they are causing to traffic and local area productivity, not to mention the regulating of the buses (so that they all now arrive at once) warrants them to put extra hours in to get this fixed. From what I have seen, this seems to be a strictly Monday to Friday 9 - 5 job, if that (dont mention the breaks for holidays or poor weather). Get them down there working overtime and on weekends to solve this issue and restore the junction back to what it was.
  5. Although, I was just commenting to my fiancee yesterday that is has been a while since there has been a crash at that junction. We live right on the junction so hear the crashes and near misses all the time. A couple of months ago this junction was averaging one crash a week - so yeah, something probably needs to be done.
  6. Well, from where I am sitting, Barry Road is a nightmare - there is traffic blocked up the whole length of the road as the cars going up cant get any grip due to the downfall of snow we had just before 4.30pm today. I have heard that London Bridge is now closed due to signalling problems and there are no trains coming this way. The buses seem to have stopped as well, as there is a Number 12 sitting half way up the road with its hazard lights on and not moving. I thought the main roads were supposed to have been gritted - as there has been nothing on Barry Road at all - much to the disgust of every motorist on there at the moment. How are you supposed to get home on a night like this?
  7. Is this happening to the whole of Barry Road? I noticed they had closed the pavement off just up the road from my house, and that it was heading down the road. How long do they take to complete this work - i.e how long will the pavement be dug up for?? Cheers
  8. Well, this is starting to get ridiculous - there was yet another crash on the Barry Road / Underhill road crossing again today. I don?t think that anyone was badly hurt, but the ambulance turned up to check the occupants out. This is the third crash there in as many weeks, and in fact I think there has been two crashes there over the past 4 days... I think the council needs to do something there, as it has only been luck that someone hasn?t been hurt more seriously. Take care when driving up Barry Road guys!
  9. Well, call me a cheapskate, but ?14.50 is way too much for a hair cut, regardless of the beer or convesation. I go to the place in Peckham Rye in the arcade, where the number 12 bus heads towards Dulwich. It is ?5.00 for a good haricut and no messing about, done in about 10 mins max. Suits me fine, and at a good price. Each to their own I guess though...
  10. Thanks for the links - they look pretty good. I need to get an exact measurement in order to calibrate the sensor, so I am think a 400m running track might be better for this - is there one of these in the local vacinity?
  11. Hi there, Does anyone know the distance of the running loop of Dulwich Park? I have seen markings on the ground there, but I am not sure of the distance. I would like to calibrate my Nike + running sensor, so I need to know the measurement of the path. Thanks in advance for you help!
  12. Hi guys, Having recently bought a new bike, I am keen to do a bit of exploring, and I am looking for local destinations to ride to on the weekend. Last weekend I rode to the Greenwich observatory and back from ED and it was very pleasant. Can anyone recommend any other good bike destinations in the area? Cheers
  13. I have to agree, the general food handling of some of the shops there doesnt seem to be too flash, nor does the way that the meat and fish are prepared. I think some of the seafood places leave a lot to be desired - you might not get sick from it, but the taste of the food would be pretty substandard. I have bought both meat and fish from some of the better looking places on Rye Lane, and been disappointed, with the taste, quality and price. On the other hand, William Rose, and Moxons fishmongers might be more expensive, but for me the cuts are better, the food handling seems better, and the overall quality is better. Just my 2p
  14. Hmm my post for some reason appeared in the Lounge Forum, so I have reposted it in the General ED issues. Apologies if you see it twice. Hi there, I have been using Peckham Rye station to commute to work using a Yearly Travel Card, but now with the introduction of the Oyster gates at the station, I wondered if this means Oyster PAYG will work? Does this mean that Peckham Rye station is now the same charge wise, as a zone two station on the tube? Thanks in advance
  15. Hi guys, With it being such a beautiful day, I thought I would go for a walk round the local area, and I seem to remember that there is a trail or walk from Dulwich to Greenwich that was being talked about on here about a year or so ago, and I wanted to know more about this. Can anyone shed any light on the route for this walk?? I know I could probably just get an A to Z and plot the route that way, but if there is already something established past local sights I would prefer to do that. Cheers
  16. Yep, I saw him early on Sunday morning, on the corner of Barry Road and Underhill road. I was wondering where he had been... Maybe he was just visiting?
  17. My downstairs neibour was broken into recently by people kicking the door in like this. They would have to have used a lot of force to kick the door in as it was a quality door, with three locking points. I would have made a lot of noise too. I hope they catch these *&*&%^%'s soon!
  18. Hey guys, Can anyone recommend a good pub to watch the Rugby in today (England v France) ?? I have asked the CPT, but I am getting confusing answers from the staff there, so I am not sure if they are playing it or not? (They were saying they would show it from 5.00pm - but that is after the game has finished??) So, any other recommendations? Cheers!
  19. Hi there, Can someone please tell me if there is a local rubbish tip where I can dispose of some household refuse. Also, is there a charge for this, and what are the opening hours? Thanks in advance!
  20. As a side, but of relevance, why is the 363 coming down Barry road in the mornings towards Peckham?? (actually assisted me this morning though) Anyone know how long that is going to last for?
  21. Did anyone see the big crash that happened on Barry Rd - Underhill Road on Saturday afternoon. There seemed to be a lot of damage there, four cars taken away I think?? Anyone know what happened??
  22. Hi guys, Hopefully someone can help me out here. I am interested in finding out more information about the Royal British Legion Club on Barry road. Has anyone on the forum been in here? Who can go into this club? What is the protocol? I used to go to the local RSA (Returned Servicemen Association) clubs back in New Zealand for a beer or meal, and I was wondering if this is the same, as if it is I would like to support them. I am a young fulla, and not an ex - serviceman, but we were still welcome in the clubs as long as we signed in. Is this the same here? Thanks in advance for you help on this.
  23. Ahh, this is sad news. I have been going down to the ED warehouse for the last little while expecting to see the oyser man there, but he is gone, and now I know why... Hmmm, where can I get my oyster fix from now?
  24. Acedout - Cheers for that - your recommendation is right on the button. I have made an appointment for the council to come and collect. Thank you for your help!
