Thanks to Patrick Barclay for this in the Evening Standard recently. Fancy that, a footballer daring to say what he actually thinks. Where will this scandalous behaviour end? Thanks, Jack Wilshere, for being so refreshing Published: 10 October 2013 Updated: 15:29, 10 October 2013 Kevin Pietersen, like so many people these days, is over-obsessed with rules, guidance and definition. ?How do you define foreigner?? he asks Jack Wilshere, tendering a list of names of sportsmen that is headed, all too predictably, by his own. Wilshere, with the politeness he has shown throughout the debate he started by saying that only English people should play for England, replies that his interest lies only in football. Once more he speaks for many of us. Cricket and other sports can do what they like. My own view, as one of the millions who concentrate on football, is that nationality matters more than ever in a game that has put everything else up for sale, especially club allegiance, and that the noises emanating from Greg Dyke as FA chairman are therefore disturbing. Dyke has called Wilshere?s views ?too extreme? and such has been the volume of similarly mealy mouthed reaction that the Arsenal and England midfielder feels obliged to claim that they do not specifically apply to Adnan Januzaj, the Manchester United teenager who scored two exquisite goals on Saturday. No wonder footballers are scared to express themselves. All Wilshere did was neatly, to borrow Pietersen?s phrase, ?define foreigner?? Without using the words, he defined foreigner as ?Adnan Januzaj?, or ?a chap born in Belgium of Albanian-Kosovar parentage who came here at 16?. That, for the moment, is all we need to know. Sooner or later the FA will come up with a batch of rules, guidance and definition of their own and this will confuse matters, much as their worthy attempt to legislate for post-match justice over the Torres/Vertonghen farce. But for now, thanks to the refreshing candour of Wilshere?s initial briefing, we have a stance that in all of our hearts we understand, whether we are English ? I?m British myself, or European ? or not.

I was present at this event, and Keith Baugh was my Art teacher at the time. I've still got a promotional black and white postcard of Johnny Nash signed by both him and Bob. A real treasure Peckham Manor School, Cator Street SE15 This was one such venue, and photographs have recently come to light in a south London blog showing Marley - with short Afro hair topped off with a striped beanie - and Nash in situ here in 1972. Former art teacher Keith Baugh had met the pair in a Soho club. "They were bemoaning the fact they couldn't get their single in the top 40," he recalls. "I suggested as a bit of a promotion they should come down and play to the kids at our school, and a few days later they came down and played two 45-minute sets." The show took place in the school's gym in Cator Street - now part of the Damilola Taylor Youth Centre in Peckham, the school having long closed down. The set-list included Reggae on Broadway and Nash's hit single I Can See Clearly Now. There was also a Marley song, Stir it Up, which would soon come to the attention of Island Records boss Chris Blackwell, usher in the Ridgmount Gardens period and change the fortunes of the Wailers for good.

West Ham dismantled the chocking cockrels today in a way that demonstrated Spuds are not so much a work in progress more a major reconstruction.

Agreed nothging is settled in October, and I don't think I've said that previously. As for carried way, I can just imagine how you Sperz fans would have reacted IF you'd beaten us. The interesting thing about the Bale thing is that your special relationship with Real facilitated his sale to us which we funded in part by off loading tens of players surplus to requirements.

By the way it's not an intersting fact as you seem to think, as it's been quoted on nearly every sport related site that I've seen in the last 48 hours . The fact that we had only 9 points after 6 games last season and were 7th is something you glaringly failed to mention as did most of these sites. But don't let a fact get in the way of your point eh?

The media's love-in is with > Mourinho. Came too soon? Behave. You didn't have a threat on goal. Same old excuses being trotted out. Italian league ain't what it used to be? Really? Maybe its because you bought players that are "unproven" in the Prem like Ozil, and we didn't even have him in the side that beat you. As for who said we were in crisis, the wonderful British media banging on about losing at home to Villa, no signings blah blah blah, Wengers lost it, yada yada yada. Fcuk knows what they would have said if we'd spent the amount Tottnum did, and were only 3rd in the league, and I don't recall any remarks of that nature being directed at Moyes paucity of signings. Early days yes, but I think the way we've responded to the loss is magnificent. And all that with no Cazorla, Podolski, Theo, Ox, and Diaby. What a paper thin squad we've got, bound to fail.

Top of Serie A, supposedley one of the best leagues in the world, swept aside, and according to Souness, "a really stiff test". Tottnum aspirations of league title, Champions League, signed shed loads of supposedly quality players also beaten. Yet we are in crisis, paper thin squad, yada yada yada, and yet Yanited are having a blip. The media love in with Yanited knows no bounds does it?

Outstanding, immense, classy. I was privileged to watch a stunning performance by the Arsenal last night. Ozils finish was sublime, his performance was class, Giroud immense, Ramsey outstanding. Not bad for a lad who had his leg snapped by the Orcs. Back four were solid, Flamini had his "they shall not pass" head on. If Gibbs had a right foot he could have had 2 goals, best atmosphere for a long long time. On a seperate note it's interesting that according to many so called experts and pundits, prior to yesterdays game, Arsenal had not yet been tested. So Tottnum weren't a test, says a lot about them then.
