  1. So did Desmond Morris and all these other clever people who ascribed some variety of "intelligent design" to the "true" purpose and modern shapes/designs of women's breasts also offer equally credible and slick explanations for the existence of male nipples then?? :)
  2. Look. No modern pirate uses buckles anyway - it's velcro or nothing ! Consider yourself well keel-hauled. Wimmin is allus bad luck on a ship anyway, me 'earties!
  3. One does not swash a buckle! One buckles a swash!
  4. Hindsight is all very well, and yes the back four were dreadful much of the time. But there is simply no way of knowing how the game would have proceeded from the 2-2 it should have been before half-time. Today was the 1st time at 2 world cups I felt sorry for Lampard - so close to being the hero on 2 occasions. Germany were not as good a side as this game suggests and I reckon Argentina will see them off: they have Tevez and Messi and we had..erm..
  5. Tommy Docherty, I think?
  6. Wel I certainly want England to go through. It takes the pressure off Andy Murray, stops the tabloids filling their pages with Big Brother rubbish and the Grauniad filling its own pages with sneers about the tabloids' obsession with BB..
  7. See how desperate things must be if the Beeb recruits Brian Blessed to urge the lads on...
  8. That was one of the most one-sided 2-0 results I have ever seen. But if Chile now grind out a 0-0 draw and/or Switzerland win 3-0 then Villa's penalty miss could look pretty expensive..
  9. Thought that was the W.I.?
  10. I don't know the facts of course, and merely speculate (but then, so do many others in other threads..). But I strongly suspect the person/people who raised these objections have been where they are since before Blue Mountain opened.
  11. Nor do I. He only started doing this and fencing the area off a few years ago IIRC
  12. So now England will scrape another draw nexr Wednesday and the USA will beat Algeria, and...
  13. Had I been going, I'd have taken a 4 litre tub.. Been trying pistachio and banana lately ;-)
  14. Start and finish with away games in Wales - Cardiff first First home game of the season is QPR - Colin & Kenny return to Bramall Lane! So that's bound to be televised then! There'll probably be more needle to that game than the ones with Leeds.
  15. Oh I have no tactical nous whatsoever ;-)...doesn't Hope Powell live around here somewhere? :)) And who's going to be on the touchline with the bucket, magic sponge and half-time Fairtrade oranges?
  16. Well there's that nice strip between the Japanese Garden and the Bowling green which has nice views of both, is fenced off and won't frighten the water fowl. (I don't think I've seen a kingfisher there for two or possibly three years though anyway..)- or the big meadow facing the new school..or...or...loads of gorgeous spots to choose from really! Am attending a school reunion that weekend so won't make it either :-)
  17. Hell's Belles Monstrous Regiment Athletic Peckham Rye Park Rangers....
  18. Fountain still blue today..
  19. Truepenny's though have been the luckless lot trying to flog the block of flats at the junction of Overhill & Underhill (now down to ?950K for all 4...)
  20. But there is too a signposted, dedicated and fenced-off picnic area is there not, complete with rustic tables and benches?
  21. We are all opinion-formers now!
  22. You can find in Google Maps but not in relatively recent (ha!) A-Zs!
  23. Reading some of the puerile, misogynistic comments in this thread almost makes me wish Abbott wins it. But as I'd like a proper Labour government back next time I get reined back in by common sense. It's still kind of weird though to see the continued survival of a particularly loathsome brand of vitriol reserved for female MPs, be it Widdecombe or Harman, all the same.
  24. The answer is not "white lines". The answer is for these motorists to take responsiblity for their own selfish actions and not park across the dropped kerbs in the first place. As the overwhelming majority of these are right at the junctions anyway motorists should not be parked there, dropped kerb or not. The sort of drivers who do this sort of illegal parking will not be put off by white lines, but might be by "marauding" ticket issuers. And a blocked dropped kerb can be incredibly awkward for the people for whom they are designed, so it is quite clear in my mind who the villains ar here - and it's not the Council or the parking wardens. And I am a car driver too.
