    Zippos Circus ..

    I think not, somehow!
  2. I wonder what odds the bookies will offer against two Liverpool sides being relegated from the Premiership this season?! B)
  3. 1 rasher was probably all he could afford this week. To buy more he'd have needed to hock something...
  4. You raise an interesting point here. I was reliably informed that, when MooTown moved its excellent cheese stall from the Indoor Market to NCR, it was told it had to discontinue selling its (really excellent!) baguettes because of the clash with Blackbird. I think NCR works well as a Saturday market only. Fridays are dead and, as far as Sundays go, it's hardly East Street is it?! I'd welcome Saturday pedestrianisation of the LL end of NCR though. 5. "Some Like It Hot" - a film I never tire of watching " ....."I'm Spartacus!".....great star, raconteur and writer...
  6. I doubt Wenger is under any illusions at all. But what else can he say about his goalkeeper on the eve of a big game and outside the transfer window?

    Strange bread.

Supermarket "bread" is just unutterably vile. If buying I like the walnut and onion from Blackbird and almost anything from Kindred. Mostly though we use a breadmaker - a ?90 Panasonic bought from Amazon 3 years ago which has paid for itself several times over. A day-old home-made loaf tastes fresher than a fresh shop-bought one. Blackbird flour is nice and the EDD sells French bread flour which makes amazing white loaves....
  8. Anyone else catch the Guardian's "Notes & Queries" section today? :))♠
  9. The on dit is that they will not merely be "high-end second hand clothes" but vintage clothes...:))

    Spooks

For some of us, Beth will always be "The Girl in the Fireplace" Fact: blondes always come to a grisly end in "Spooks"

    Spooks

I shall watch it but really it has killed off too many characters to deserve much in othe way of viewer loyalty. They've never really re-scaled that deep-frying Lisa Faulkner peak have they?:))
  12. Umm...as your second what?! On second thoughts no answer is required... If it cannot be God's own county then let it be Zummerzet I suppose!
  13. Somerset look favourites now..but what a shame the weather has ruined these final games! Still hoping Yorkshire somehow swing it though...and everyone knows there are no "maids" left in Kent! :))
  14. None of the characters is likeable - or even credible!
  15. The best hotel breakfast I ever had was not in the UK or the USA but at Ballymaloe House in Ireland: 3 kinds of muesli, about 5 types of home-baked bread (including soda bread and scones still baking as you drifted into the restaurant), locally sourced bacon, sausage, black and white puddings, honey, home made jams and marmalade etc etc...You just did not want to move afterwards, but lounge about waiting for the home-made steak pie for lunch, the home-made chocolate cake for afternoon tea, the 4 course dinner etc etc.. The very best toast though is made on an AGA
  16. Well I loved the recent monsters exhibition - well scary! And the new aquarium is nice... And oh how I covet that conservatory!
  17. I had exactly this problem with a delivery of a "heavy" object - one driver, lift and pallet trolley. I simply refused to accept delivery and the seller came back to me a day later to say that, actually, the driver could put it in the house after all....
  18. No idea where she lives, but her tough-looking husband has a farm in Yorskshire...
  19. I hear good things about Dublin Bay.....
  20. I am sending a letter too based very closely on MM's excellent summary
  21. Did anyone else see the draw live, and in particular the part where Gary Lineker had to lie through his teeth about great the new Wembley was? Great for spectators yes, but how many times have they tried getting the pitch right now???
  22. It's not a "finely-balanced" issue at all. The locals and the people who use this junction regularly seem almost overwhelmingly to want a return to the status quo ante, or something very similar. The Councils report is utter tosh
  23. We had a problem with the battery going flat periodically on our Kia Sedona diesil. I spent a tenner or so on a solar-powered charger from Amazon and had no problems since: won't work if the car lives in a garage obviously! :))
  24. I agree but I would not hold your breath! I'd be amazed if the traffic lights get removed now...
  25. King's no longer do audiology http://referrals.kch.nhs.uk/directory/critical-care-and-surgery/audiology/ may be useful
