  1. Is Barry going to be fit then? On last night's showing I think I'd rather start with Lennon than Walcott against the USA. Green made some good saves but had one horrendous moment which could have easily cost a goal.
  2. It's on tomorrow night at 9pm too...("Lost" I mean)
  3. Oi PGC! We have scones in Yorkshire too! And a proper Barnsley Chop is serious food, unlike that pie and mash thing with the green snot running all over it! Would rather have Millwall than Swindon in the Championship, but would try to be out of the country for the Millwall v Leeds fixture...
  4. Barcelona has no tower, pleasure beach or 18 miles of sandy beaches though! Bloomfield Road's capacity is about 12500, so a slightly more intimate ground too:))
  5. Oh I think it counts! It was agaiinst Brazil after all, and in their own backyard of the Maracana at that. Back in 1984 there was still some seriousness in friendlies, unlike the modern, dispiriting kind. A great goal is still a great goal, irrespective of what may or may not be at stake. A run-of-the-mill goal cannot become great simply because it was crucial.
  6. I thought the saddest part of all was the exchange between "Bolly" & Hunt when she finally realised she'd not be seeing Molly again... I bet you *anything* the "Lost" finale is not a patch on this.
  7. Well I urge you to watch it ASAP, and savour one or two classic Gene Huntisms! :))
  8. Didn't they call in police marksmen to take down that gazebo as it was threatening to run amok?
  9. What an amazing, perfect and sad ending to the whole Life on Mars/A to A series!
  10. Charlton's goal was timely and spectacular....but John Barnes' against Brazil in 1984 was simply breathtaking.
  11. It is the fitters who are holistic apparently
  12. The moaners and whingers on here aren't what they were when ah were a lad...
  13. Kindred Bakery does very nice Eccles cakes.... (A public service announcement)
  14. Denis spent a few nights there, allegedly, because he enjoyed the adjoining golf club: but TBW not even once.
  15. I second that endorsement of the real Tony, Tony Dowsett: been doing our windows in Underhill for around 15 years and is an all round good guy!
  16. I think the umpires might have a moan about being expected to carry disposal nappies as well - such a new slant on the phrase "first change bowler" eh what? Jonners'd be revolving in his grave...
  17. Oh gosh...now I am salivating with hunger !
  18. "hash browns" have no place on a full English! What's wrong with bubble for God's sake?! And/or proper fried bread?!
  19. Well done Leeds! Nice to know we'll still have a (sort of!) derby game to win next season!
  20. You overlook what a small proportion of the electorate actually watched the things. The 1st got 9 million - big vurioisdity factor? - the 2nd only 4 million. I venture to suggest that the vast najority of viewers were the more politically well-informed and/or already decided. I see nothing to persuade me that the final voting figures/seats for the three main parties would have been any different had there been no debates at all
  21. I think you mean "Mona Lisa" not "The Long Good friday"?
  22. Other things aside, I was really pleased to see the myth of the "significance" - as insisted on by the various infatuated print and broadcast media - of the so-called "live debates" blown out of the water. It seems after all that they did Clegg no good at all and had minimjal-to-no effect on people's voting on the day.
  23. Spurs did look marvellous in the 2nd half.....but honestly they were helped by a non-existent City defence!
  24. I don't think the DKH Sainsbury's is meant to be the "busiest", but the most profitable per square foot?
  25. Blimey! "The Exorcist" meets "The Andrews Sisters"??
