  2. >> (2) the installation of the two air conditioning dooformajigs on the outside rear wall. >It might get hot inside, and that's not cool. Quite so. But the Council's view appears to be that you still do need planning permission to have them installed and Caffe Nero apparently neglected to obtain it >>(1) the unauthorised change of use from A1 to A1/A3 >This is wrong. It's a change from A1 to A3 with a very small A1 component. ......which is exactly what I stated in (1) anyway.
  3. I see there are two issues to be heard at the Appeal:- (1) the unauthorised change of use from A1 to A1/A3 (2) the installation of the two air conditioning dooformajigs on the outside rear wall. I am now wondering what happens if Caffe Nero wins (1) but not (2) (or vice versa)
  4. >>Me too - after Corrie!<< Two Corries on Fridays now - second one 8.30 til 9 SimonM (helpful bunny)
  5. So the Council's lease on the Grove Vale library premises is nearing the end. Place your bets now.....another bookies or estate agents there? :))
  6. I note how, following Louisa's entertaining rants about fish and chips, there now seems to be a veritable stampede of customers to Sea Cow from here. And although I am sure the establishment fully deserves to prosper I would nevertheless like to extend my congratulations to their marketing department for thinking up the excellent wheeze of getting Louisa to stir up all this custom in her inimitable fashion. Devilish sly, if you ask me. :))
  7. >>I was in Singing Detective. Just had to share that with you. :D
  8. >>It was indeed. It was a live performance on top of the pops or something like that, Lulu was hosting. He said "this is >>for cream" before starting the riff... Cool! Yes. BBC4 showed this very clip last Wednesday night on that hour-long programme of 60's music
  9. CPT doo dah! (sorry!)
  10. It is Wednesday v United tomorrow lunchtime live on Sky. Anything less than a thumping away win and the cats had better make themselves scarce around here...(6)
  11. >>Great now I've got Wild Thing stuck in my head.<< Slightly off topic but there was a really weird cover of this in the 60's by an artiste calling himself "Senator Bobby", who performed the whole opus in the style of a Bobby Kennedy speech....:))
  12. >>Have I missed any?<< Willllllddddddd Thinggggggg! :))
  13. Youghal brings back many happy memories to me of driving between Rosslare and Cork, and stopping there for either a coffee near the Arch in the one-way system, or a Guinness and orange-cheese sandwich in one of the pubs (every Irish pub seems to sell cheese sandwiches with processed orange cheese in...). I remember too first pronouncing "Youghal" to rhyme with "Dougal".... ahem

  15. >> small roundabout would do the trick, one of those flat, painted ones that allow buses and trucks to negotiate the radius easily.<< You mean the sort that has just been removed from the Melford/Underhill Roads crossing because of all the accidents on it? :))
  16. I would have thought the ED Somerfield would be too small a site too attract the interest of Waitrose?
  17. >>When the Beatles got their OBE many possessors of that award returned theirs in disgust<< The Beatles were awarded MBEs ("Mr Brian Epstein") not OBEs - and I think only a few Disgusted-of-Tunbridge-Wells types returned their medals. They had of course worked wonders for the Balance of Payments and were far more deserving of their gongs than some of Harold Wilson's retirement honours recipients were :))
  18. >>I thought they had actually bought a house in the Village - just never moved<< There were all kinds of rumours flying around as I recall. I thought though Ms Kidman merely rented that enormous place in Dulwich Village about 3 doors from the wine shop whilst she appeared in "The Blue Room"?
  19. >>I have Father O'Connor on speed dial...<< Do you never worry you might fall off? B)
  20. Heinz Baked Beans (almost any other brand is superior - but especially Crosse & Blackwell's)
  21. But will there be any women in the nip?!
  22. The pastor of the church/chapel on Upland Road is Mr L. Bent - which always amuses me inordinately..
  23. The junction is too narrow for a mini-roundabout. The problem arises I think out of strangers to the area not seeing the no-right-turn ahead signs before Matham Grove. I wonder if East Dulwich Grove should be one-way from Lordship Lane to the Matham Grove junction? I suppose the residents of Matham Grove would hate that though....
  24. ...the erotic appeal of the exposed female breast...
  25. ....so you should take her to see "La Vie En Rose", which is wonderful (or rent steal or borow the DVD)
