  2. train station PIN number Sheffield W*dn*sd*y
  3. Blimey has someone really confessed to being a prawn sandwich eater?! :)) Anyway, 2nd team or not, Eduardo to get another double against Tottenham I think...
  4. 12th Night is 5th January not 6th! SimonM (pedants'r'us)
  5. >>Talking of desert islands, what eight deserts would you take? << Sachertorte Profiteroles Chocolare mousse Chocolate eclairs Chocolate fondue Steamed chocolate sponge with hot chcolate sauce Tarte au chocolat Crepes with Curacao and chocolate sauce... I too have a pattern... :))

  8. Yes it was! Won the FA Cup 4 times too, but not since about 1925 or thereabouts... The 1899 side had the famous "Fatty" Foulkes in goal who played for England was ginormous - well worth googling him!
  9. Sheffield United won the League in 1899. Not a lot of people know that...
  10. You London Premier League club supporters! Always whingeing about something! Don't know when you're well off etc etc :'( >:D<
  11. I just watched the BBC's remake of "The Comedy of Errors" on "Match of the Day" - or Spurs v Reading as they preferred to call it! What amazing entertainment :))
  12. What about the old one is right-handed, the other left-handed thing?
  13. Birmingham 3 Fulham 1 Chelsea 2 Newcastle 0 Derby 0 Blackburn 2 Everton 1 Arsenal 1 Man City 2 Liverpool 2 Portsmouth 2 Middlesbrough 1 Sunderland 1 Bolton 1 Tottenham 3 Reading 1 West Ham 1 Man Utd 2 Wigan Athletic 0 Aston Villa 1 And. on the subject of televised games, the game to watch tomorrow on Sky is of course Sheffield United v Crystal Palace (now managed by N. Warnock Esq and undefeated in 10 games...). As tomorrow is also my birthday I hope United for once get their act together properly and give Colin a nasty "welcome back!". Shame James Beattie is out for 4-6 weeks but at least Rob Hulse appears to be match-fit again. Last year the Lads have me a delightful birthday present (admittedly on the day following) when they deservedly beat Arsenal 1-0 - unfortunately the season went somewhat downhill after that....:))
  14. >>You know what, I wonder if SimonM was so confident of his 4 goal margin, that he put a bet on it. Be honest now SimonM, >>did you back up your prediction with a cheeky punt?<< Is there really no end to your gracelessness?
  15. >>I think this is what's known as being extremely optimistic, to the point of bordering on the ridiculous!<< Want to borrow a flannel to wipe all that egg off your face? :))
  16. >>I think this is what's known as being extremely optimistic, to the point of bordering on the ridiculous!! If you are a >>betting man Paddy Power will give you 17-1 for that score. As I am not a Spurs supporter how can it be "optimistic"? :)) It may be a trifle unrealistic but (a) Tottenham are gradually getting their act together and (b) Fulham are in a bad way....
  17. Chelsea 2 v 0 Aston Villa Tottenham 4 v 0 Fulham West Ham 1 v 1 Reading Birmingham 2 v 1 Middlesbrough Derby 0 v 2 Liverpool Everton 2 v 1 Bolton Sunderland 0 v 2 Man. United Wigan 1 v 2 Newcastle Portsmouth 1 v 1 Arsenal Man. City 2 v 1 Blackburn
  18. I thought the "letters" in support of Foxtons' parking "rights" were suspiciously similar in tone and content...a bit OsbourneStewartesque in fact...:)

Disagree. Bananas are a quick potassium-replacement fix - your K levels can get dangerously low if you are spewing at both ends...Flat coke is sugar and fluid, also a good idea
  20. >>Isn't Rupert Penry-Jones a Dulwich boy?<< It would seem so - I had not realised his mother was Angela Thorne!
  21. I am not too sure these days - we get it free as members. But it used to be sold too at local bookshops around SE21 & SE22 and I *think* they have a copy in the library...
  22. The Winter edition of the Society's magazine has just been published. There is a wonderful article in it by Brian Green describing 50 years of shopkeeping in the Village...
  23. >>AC have only one outstanding player, namely KAKA, but on his own against the might of the Arse he has little chance to shine. << This is what is known as "tempting fate"!
  24. I remember it - and yes the theme tune was very atmospheric: also recall the episode where Joan Collins guest-starred as a disturbed young woman who stripper off all her clothes in the Underground......but alas this was the 60's and the camera angles were frustratingly discreet....:))
  25. Arsenal 1 - 1 Tottenham Aston Villa 2 - 1 Man. City Bolton 0 - 1 Birmingham Fulham 1 - 1 Wigan Liverpool 1 - 1 Portsmouth Middlesbrough 1 - 0 West Ham Reading 2 - 0 Sunderland Man. United 2 - 1 Everton Newcastle 3 - 1 Derby Blackburn 0 - 2 Chelsea
