I to0 got a PCN for being in the left hand lane to turn into Champion Hill. I usually wait till I am almost at the top of the hill to move over, but recently I have been cut up by cars at the last minute who have almost crashed into me even though I have indicated clearly of my intention to turn left. From the angle of the photo they must have cameras showing traffic going up DKH as mine is a rear view.

I would drop a note into the Practice manager there. I wonder if the did not have a receptionist on duty during those times. Also time of evening surgery - perhaps short staffed

I dealt with a young partially disabled young man some years ago who was targeted by gang in the Peckham area. He spent most of his time indoors with his pets, computer and music system. He was attacked in him home by a group of young men who thought he was an easy touch due to his disability. He was very badly injured and spent many months in hospital. One of the gang was caught and charged with attempted murder but the other gang members were not caught. The police officer assigned to his case was very helpful and attended most of the meetings held in the hospital to plan this young man's future. Because of the risk that other gang members had not been caught, and their ring leader had a attempted murder charge against him, going back to his council flat was not in his best interests. The Police, myself, hospital tried to rehouse him out of Southwark and there is apparently a scheme where local councils can rehouse victims of crime outside their area for safety. Lambeth council were approached and dragged their feet for months and them changed their minds. After several months in hospital, the young man discharged himself and went back to his old flat and hoped that the gang members would not realise he was there. I did not see the programme but vulnerable young people who are either victims or caught up in gangs (mainly as they feared there own life otherwise) need to have the opportunity to rebuild their lives and should not be returned to their former locations.

Going to work at 9.45 this morning it was difficult to turn right at the LL/Barry Road lights as traffic backed up. Saw as I turned in my rear mirror, fire engine, ambulance and a couple of police cars between the surgery and the bus stand just before Friern. Must have just happened. Load of Police cars further down LL outside Picture house and down towards NX Rd no signs of any activity

Deliveroo: please keep your cyclists safe

I saw about a dozen Deliveroo cyclists on the corner of Shawbury Road outside the Guadwara around 6.30 - 45 Friday evening - is there a collection point there? -
Friday baby and toddler drop in group - advice wanted :)
Pugwash replied to Jellybeanz's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Where would you hold this group? If in own home would need to check your house insurance and may need to register with the council as charging a fee? If you are holding it in a hall - need to cost in hire charges. There are a number of baby and toddler groups already in ED -
Owner of property had to do repairs to the wall

Deliveroo: please keep your cyclists safe
Pugwash replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
Some months ago coming up LL towards Townley Road, I had to brake suddenly as a Deliveroon cyclist suddenly cut across me without warning or signalling. Had I been going much faster I would have certainly hit him as I braked. There seems to be a sudden increase of these deliveries in ED and I am seeing them on a daily basis. No reflective clothing or strips around their ankles and very little safety awareness or road sense. -
We have our gas appliance including CH boiler twice a year on average.

I have seen Ahmed or his side kick getting fresh chips from the freezer and putting them in to fry also battering fresh fish. I have usually gone in around 7 on a Friday on way home from work and wait around 15 mins whilst every thing is freshly cooked. Not had a soggy batter

I try to stick to the 20 mph limit where ever possible (not always easy when going down hill with an automatic gear) but noticed frequently over taken by prats who want to go 40 mph. Last week down Barry Road 2 buses at bus stop and I could see that front bus was about to pull out having indicated.so held back. Car behind me overtook me and the 2 buses causing a car coming in the opposite direction to brake hard and swerve, was going around 35 - 40 mph.

if I can remember from the days when I had to attend a Health and Safety Course and later when I had to write the organisation's H & S policy. Employers are obliged to provide staff with a safe place where to store their belongings ie a lockable cupboard or locker. We had some thefts at work some years back and police/security stated that we had been provided with lockable desks and if our handbags were locked away and we had the keys, any forced entry of the desks would mean we could make a claim against our employer and also claim from our household insurance

Anti-social neighbours - Southwark refuses to act
Pugwash replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in The Lounge
Many years ago we had problems with the tenants next door - shouting, screaming children, food, clothing, gravel being thrown over the fence. MOther spoken to denied that it was her little darlings. The final straw came when shoes were being thrown over the fence and hit a elderly partially sited relative who was out in the garden. We contacted the Housing Officer and made a formal complaint as part of the southwark tenancy agreement was that they did not cause a nuisance to the neighbours. The neighbours did not like us but to an extent the bad behaviour stopped. A few months later they did a moonlight flit after receiving a whole load of furniture delivered on a HP scheme. Once the delivery van went, they brought round another van and loaded up all the new items and went. For upto a year we had people knocking on our door asking where they were as owed several thousands of pounds in HP goods -
Missing White & Ginger Cat: Camberwell Grove
Pugwash replied to CamberGirl's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
The PDSA recommend that cats need to be kept in for a minimum of 2 weeks in a new environment, and that when let out in the garden - cat litter, toys etc be scattered in garden as they would carry the cat's scent to redirect them home. Our rehomed cats are taken in their wire cat carriers into the garden several times and carriers placed in different locations so that they can absorb the scents of the garden. They are only out 10 or 15 mins but over a period of a week or 10 days they get used to the area and also our other cats. So far, our 3 - all rehomed have only strayed a few doors down. -
6 dogs stolen from dog walker in Forest Hill
Pugwash replied to heather_wardle's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
Is it now time to reconsider as to how many dogs a dog walker can care for at any one time. This being the 2nd theft of a large number of dogs. Are these 'walkers' insured, are they covered by any legal document or such? Do they come under the Animal Welfare Act. Although there are many genuine dog lovers around, more people seem to be doing this for the money. My husband used to once a week or so walk a friend's German Shepherd as we no longer have dogs of our own, but would never consider combining the walk with another dog. I think walking 2 dogs at a time should be the maximum. You could always stage the walks if you want to take on more dogs - say 2 dogs between 8 - 9 am , then another 2 10 - 11 etc. Unfortunately to many people animals are becoming a commodity and a source of revenue. I think there should be a Register of Dog Walkers and that they would need to demonstrate their knowledge of basic dog first aid, dog handling skills, how to avoid 'dog conflicts' and how to behave in public places ( the walkers not the dogs)
