I watch it as I like to see those who have no common sense. They are too far up their own a**e to understand how pathetic they come across. Thank god my kids feel job satisfaction is far more important than making loads of money

Sydenham School (the state girls school) feedback
Pugwash replied to Sol's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Both of my girls went there many years ago and went on to university to study. Good standard of education -
Cords are cool! Love a man in a pair of good fitting cords - fortunately my husband likes them as well. Go the whole hog and get a matching corduroy jacket as well.

Books for big sister to be (aged 2)
Pugwash replied to GillianHG's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My granddaughter was 23 months old when her baby brother was born. Was the first to hold him after Mum and Dad and was fascinated by his daily routines and wanted to help. He is now 8 months old and a little bit of jealousy is apparent at times but on the whole - she is his 'slave' -
I am retiring next month - 6 years after reaching state pension age. If it was not for my arthritis which affects my walking and standing ( which are part of my job) I would stay on as I love my work. Every week my boss asks me if I had changed my mind and wants me to stay, I have compromised and stated that I will join a professional agency and if the team needed short term or part time workers I would come back as a temp. However I have already signed up for a short term university course which will allow me to branch into the more academic and teaching side of my profession which will keep my mind active.

The Gardens have a very defined area - if you look on their web page you will see the boundaries. DMC in Chadwick Road seems efficient

All depends whether you are going via Bromley Town Centre and up Bromley Common Road. Also are you driving from Peckham via Sydenham to Beckenham, or going up the Bromley Road. I drive from Dulwich to Orpington (the station end) regularly and out of rush hour takes me 45 minutes. Around midnight it takes 20 - 25 minutes. I would allow a good hour plus.

My PCN was from Southwark

I to0 got a PCN for being in the left hand lane to turn into Champion Hill. I usually wait till I am almost at the top of the hill to move over, but recently I have been cut up by cars at the last minute who have almost crashed into me even though I have indicated clearly of my intention to turn left. From the angle of the photo they must have cameras showing traffic going up DKH as mine is a rear view.

Mr. Jones who ran the dairy where the zebra is opp EDT - lovely welsh couple, when she died, he died a few months later of a broken heart (or so his son said) Going back to the 1950s. -
Southwark Housing were quite supportive filing in the necessary forms but it was Lambeth who were pulling out

I would drop a note into the Practice manager there. I wonder if the did not have a receptionist on duty during those times. Also time of evening surgery - perhaps short staffed

I dealt with a young partially disabled young man some years ago who was targeted by gang in the Peckham area. He spent most of his time indoors with his pets, computer and music system. He was attacked in him home by a group of young men who thought he was an easy touch due to his disability. He was very badly injured and spent many months in hospital. One of the gang was caught and charged with attempted murder but the other gang members were not caught. The police officer assigned to his case was very helpful and attended most of the meetings held in the hospital to plan this young man's future. Because of the risk that other gang members had not been caught, and their ring leader had a attempted murder charge against him, going back to his council flat was not in his best interests. The Police, myself, hospital tried to rehouse him out of Southwark and there is apparently a scheme where local councils can rehouse victims of crime outside their area for safety. Lambeth council were approached and dragged their feet for months and them changed their minds. After several months in hospital, the young man discharged himself and went back to his old flat and hoped that the gang members would not realise he was there. I did not see the programme but vulnerable young people who are either victims or caught up in gangs (mainly as they feared there own life otherwise) need to have the opportunity to rebuild their lives and should not be returned to their former locations.

Which Lordship Lane Surgery - there are 2 - one up at the Library end and the other just past CR Rd. I have to frequently ring GP surgeries as part of my job and note that many surgeries do not have staff available during the day

Refreshments on sale also a chance to look around the centre and discuss with the management team about hire fees, events you would like to see put on etc.

Going to work at 9.45 this morning it was difficult to turn right at the LL/Barry Road lights as traffic backed up. Saw as I turned in my rear mirror, fire engine, ambulance and a couple of police cars between the surgery and the bus stand just before Friern. Must have just happened. Load of Police cars further down LL outside Picture house and down towards NX Rd no signs of any activity

Deliveroo: please keep your cyclists safe
Pugwash replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
I saw about a dozen Deliveroo cyclists on the corner of Shawbury Road outside the Guadwara around 6.30 - 45 Friday evening - is there a collection point there? -
Friday baby and toddler drop in group - advice wanted :)
Pugwash replied to Jellybeanz's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Where would you hold this group? If in own home would need to check your house insurance and may need to register with the council as charging a fee? If you are holding it in a hall - need to cost in hire charges. There are a number of baby and toddler groups already in ED -
Owner of property had to do repairs to the wall

Deliveroo: please keep your cyclists safe
Pugwash replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
Some months ago coming up LL towards Townley Road, I had to brake suddenly as a Deliveroon cyclist suddenly cut across me without warning or signalling. Had I been going much faster I would have certainly hit him as I braked. There seems to be a sudden increase of these deliveries in ED and I am seeing them on a daily basis. No reflective clothing or strips around their ankles and very little safety awareness or road sense.
