  1. I tried to get a disabled bay for my mother who had to go out in a wheelchair to our car and I ended up having to double park on a crowded road, go into her flat, get her sorted into the chair, lock up the flat and wheel her to the car and take pot luck that I was not blocking other cars. I could not get a disabled bay as I was not living at the address with my mother although my care was the only one that took her out weekly to do her shopping There is a great swindle going on with blue badges and disabled bay parking and criteria for obtaining a blue badge in the first place is tightening. Some Blue Badges have expiry dates on them check your neighbours.
  2. is your daughter officially recognised as being a authorised person to live in your property? If Housing Dept has you as living by yourself they would prevent you bidding for a 2 bed property. If the above does not apply - contact your Resident Officer (Housing Officer) and try and get more information re the letter. failing that your local councillor.
  3. You may be in the area for the DMC in Chadwick Road
  4. A few years ago we were broken into whilst my hubby was in the house and he came face to face with burglar who appeared very drunk. Hubby was about to ring Police when he remembered that there was a police car outside our house. He informed officers that he had a very drunk burglar in his house - several police officers and a dog charged in the house and arrested the guy. It would appear that this guy had broken into houses down the road and was spotted by builders, he made his way via various gardens until he got to us when he proceed to break a heavy wooden door, then some French windows to gain entry to us. Various householders reported that a man was climbing their garden fences and called police. It sounds that this may have happened in this incident
  5. Not knowing where you live - difficult to advise as many GPs have catchment areas, We are near Dulwich Library and were originally in catchment area of the Gardens (where we still are) however the catchment area for new patients is more towards Peckham Rye and bordering on SE15
  6. Check it out with your GP and seek a referral for a psychologist. I do not know whether the Sunshine House set up has these, but I know there is a child and family centre at Maudsley
  7. saw a similar cat crossing CP Rd near the Worlingham Road end on Thursday
  8. One of my daughters has a Wickes kitchen which was fitted by the same company. The other daughter has a Homebase kitchen fitted by a private builder
  9. Split level oven and hob. Gas hob but electric double ovens. Top oven at shoulder height and main oven at waist level. Lifting heavy pots out of them so much easier.
  10. Looked at stuff in BHS Lewisham last week - all reasonable price and good variety. Was looking for duvet cover but the one I liked had only single or King size in stock. Went to M & S as hubby wanted some shirts for his birthday and although got 2 shirts, they seemed to have reduced the size of their men's wear section and were offering a smaller choice
  11. According to Southwark News a small dog was taken from owners arms and thrown to a bull type dog who killed it. happened in Numhead area
  12. I would not think that permission for a climbing frame is needed if it is an ordinary child size frame. Families frequently install these in their gardens and I have never heard about planning consent. I recall someone having a trampoline in the garden and noting that their teenage son was always bouncing up and down in the hot weather in order to see if their next door neighbour was sunbathing in their swimsuit. (They had a 6 foot fence)
  13. had an IKEA kitchen some 15/20 years ago. After about 10 years the melamine coating started peeling off (I have the blue/green finish). It turned out that following a TV programme that some of the ranges had a design fault and people were urged to go back to IKEA for replacement. Unfortunately when I went back, they had discontinued my colour range and could not get any replacement doors. I am now in the process of having all the doors repainted. Apart from these peeling problem, I have been very happy with the units.
  14. From what I gather from a friend who went to a neighbourhood police forum, that the Police do not feel that 20mph is realistic on main roads as most people go over that but they have noted that in these areas, people are usually sticking to under 30 mph. A general decrease in speeding.
  15. NCT run classes on Saturdays at Christ Church Barry Road.
  16. I was going to do NCT classes 30 years ago when my 2nd child was on the way, having had a 13 year age gap after the first. Ended up joining their coffee morning group instead. This was a group of mums all living locally who had children within the same period as my daughter (Jan/Feb) we took turns in hosting a coffee morning ( I think it was every 2 weeks) found it very helpful and with a couple of people we stayed in touch for a number of years as our girls went to the same school.

    Landline ....

if you are elderly or disabled and need a pendant alarm - this will only work from a land line. You can get ones to weok with mobiles but you need to buy a separate SIM card and top up regularlt
  18. I just put the phone down on the accidents call. The ones selling double glazing I state that I am renting and my landlord is a skinflint. if they use my or my husbands surname I state they were former tenants and I do not know where they live
  19. can you not show proof of payment? Your bank statement should indicate this clearly?
  20. Today at the Goose Green roundabout - a woman texting on her phone walked right out onto the crossing an 2 lanes of cars had to slam on their brakes, It was fortunate that we were all going slowly. Another reason for not using the phone in the street.
  21. People have to apply for Disabled Parking spaces and the person applying needs to have a car. Originally a disabled person without a car could apply on the grounds that family/friends have a car which the disabled person goes out in
  22. The old Chinese guy is said to have died.
  23. In answer to James Barber question = I believe this was the site of Gente Outfitters
  24. There is a Southwark Mediation Service who may be able to give some advice
  25. I have had to go to Sorting Office when recorded delivery or registered letter cannot be delivered as I am at work. Sometimes on line supplier will send parcel via Royal mail and cannot deliver. What times are the Peckham SO open? If they are getting rid of the sorting office are they also getting rid of the delivery centre in Pellat Rd?
