Welcome to the area! Lots of social things happening on the forum from chitter-chatter in the Lounge to meet-ups in the What's On, so have a poke around if you haven't already. In the Family Room there are clubs running by season, so you can meet up with other women with babies due around the same time - Autumn babies, Winter babies etc. Have fun.
  3. If you end up near London Bridge, the rooftop garden bar at Coq d'Argent is nice.
  4. Agree - all at once. We moved Moosling to new room, new bed with duvet and made it all 'because you're a big boy now'.
  5. srisky, I don't think you should feel you ought to apologise for your excellent post. Better to counter with facts and a positive attitude than let nonsense and spiteful cynicism sit unchallenged.
  6. What an oddly surly and resentful post.
  7. I've recently switched to a gmail email account and it is set up so that I automatically bcc myself whenever I send an email. Anyone know how to turn this off? I've looked through the settings options and can't find it. many thanks!
  8. "I have never been... but improvements are def needed" It's hard to think well of a place if you've heard negative reports, but I do think it's worth a try before you dcide against it. We always have a lovely time. It is a good idea to go early to avoid the crowds and queues. The end of the afternoon is of course always very busy.
  9. Dulwichmum, I didn't move it but I'm guessing it got moved because it's not ED specific but affects all of Southwark. Why not 'report this message' and ask for it to be moved back? Seems as though you have a good case. Not sure why there's a duplicate thread in the Family Room, though.
  10. People always seem terribly ready to volunteer other people's time. Come on, stay-at-home mums, what else have you got to do other than sit around and natter?
  11. Haven't been for a while (we tend to think of it as a winter place), but my boy loves Gambado with a passion and always has a wonderful time. Have had to wait a few minutes to get a coffee occasionally, but that's not exactly the point of the place... otherwise I'd recommend the Blue Brick for a cracking coffee! The play facilities are good, safe, clean and fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun.
  12. I'm quite looking forward to it. Bad Mummy. Have agreed in principle to work short hours so I can pick Moosling up from school and then have the afternoon with them both. It might be the best of both worlds. Or it might be a nightmare juggling two tired kids through the witching hour to feed/bath/bed and surreptitiously typing on my Blackberry. We'll see!
  13. Dear Rosie, that reflects your own fashion past, and good on you. Others may be cringing for other reasons, chief among them Why did I wear what my mum/my best friends/my gang/a fashion magazine said I should, though it made me feel crap? Or Why did I wear those drab cords for years and years, afraid to wear something bright that might risk making someone notice I was there? Shame and regret come in many flavours.
  14. A trick a native of Arkansas recommended is to have a bowl of water on a table in front of the fan, which will then make the air moister and cooler. Going to try it this afternoon.
  15. I'm short of loads, including the letters of my son's very short name, bah. But are we all thinking about this right? Surely one would need a couple of alphabets: certainly 2 of each of the vowels, and quite a lot of the consonants, in order to make words and phrases?

Well done maxxi, balance of the elements restored. End of universe averted, stars can stop falling from the sky now.

Lumme, that's breaking ranks, Mockers. I thought hating everything Coldplay was a rule round here.
  19. I was brought up on raw milk - green top! Yum. Now have enormous strong bones.. :) wrists like a wrestler.. May I be nosey and ask how it's going to work?
  20. Would you get more responses in the Lounge, do you think?
  21. Apparently they have no water in the building at all. I don't know anything more, probably best to give them a call to check when they'll reopen.
  22. Either my brain is scrambled, which is possible, or Saila is agreeing with you wrt using hot (not boiling) water, Fuschia. She's just explained why it should be hot but not boiling.
  23. I still think birth plans are a good idea, btw.
  24. No, wasn't you sillywoman. From what you've posted I think your classes must be very good. But I do wonder how many first-timers can get through birth without pain relief unless they've been really well prepared and have tip-top support. Maybe it's just me! but I simply didn't realise how tough it would be. I wish I'd known about natal hypnotherapy first time. Second time, the early hours of labour were really positive and quite exciting as I lay in bed doing my breathing exercises, waiting for morning so I could wake my other half and tell him we were having our baby that day. It was only when I got stuck in triage for ages with no midwife and felt a bit panicky and dizzy on the high couch that I lost that mental space.
