  1. Has anyone used the Pantley technique to break the sucking to sleep association for dummies?
  2. I don't understand at all how anyone can think a CS the easy option. An emergency CS may involve going through labour almost to the point of birth and then undergoing a major operation. Having had an emergency CS and then a VBAC with 3rd degree tear I'd say the latter was easier, and much, much easier to recover from.
  3. giggirl, great post. I was hoping you (and RosieH?) would find this thread. Thank you!
  4. My advice re: jeans would be to go to Selfridges and get them to do a Bodymetrics assessment, which will help them find a pair of jeans that suit your shape. I ended up with Serfontaines, which I'm very happy with. They're expensive, but I wear jeans so much (having sadly also lost what fashion mojo I ever had) that it's worth it. I'd also say that tops, cardigans and accessories such as sunglasses are the things to follow current trends with - assuming you like the trends - as they'll need regular replacement anyway. Have fun!
  5. I thought I saw them sometime ago at Jolie a Pied, but haven't looked recently.
  6. My son's nursery is on nit alert at the moment, so I'm combing 'casually' through his hair a lot. The advice we were given was that if you find eggs you need to comb first, and the whole family should use the shampoo and wash their bedding. If it's any comfort, I have heard nits only like clean, well-cared-for heads.
  7. Hurray, glad all is well in the Otta family, and your little cub, whether blue or pink, is healthy. :-)
  8. zeban, just caught up with your response - many thanks for the detailed clarification. I had honestly only ever heard of female sterilisation consisting of a hysterectomy, clearly that was completely wrong & I'm sorry if my comment perpetuated that myth. I also agree with your comment on pressure. karter, I don't understand your post.
  9. Yes, I think that's what happened to me, some time in last night's feeding frenzy.
  10. Damn baby gave me a hickey. Just wanted to have a moan about it. Am sure will not actually expire as a result, though it has made feeding a bit more yelpy than usual today. Each time I yelp, he looks at me with mild interest and surprise, as if to say Oh goodness, there's that noisy woman again.
  11. Wholly confused by reactions to my coughing. Better take some virtual cough medicine.
  12. ...except that a hysterectomy is a far, far bigger deal as an operation and a physical change than a vasectomy.
  13. Ha! Me too. If I have to break sharply, an officious little voice from the back will pipe up "That was too fast, Mummy". Grrr. Particularly galling when true..
  14. That would suggest that Mr. candj, like Mr. Moos, tends to lapse most often when driving. Moosling, aged 2, was discovered sitting on the loo muttering to himself "Fcuking sake. Fcuking sake. Daddy say it". Not that funny at the time, but fortunately seems to have been forgotten!

  16. Stop ruining the fun... was delightful watching Tarot frothing over the risks.
  17. *coughs*
  18. The tunnels are a very dangerous installation indeed... anyone who's seen them will know that literally* dozens of slavering paedophiles, hairy-fisted bullies and indeed good old-fashioned monsters taking a holiday from under kids' beds could be lurking there. *OK, not literally. Also, have I spelt slavering correctly?
  19. Dearest Michael Plinkyplonk those of us who know you for the courteous, humorous, kind and naughty soul that you are will know that your post was written with a twinkle, but those not so privileged might be a bit uncertain as to its tone. I may have missed it but I don't think anyone suggested you might be less than thrilled that you are not a sprog-driver? With much love Moos Of Many Sprogs
  20. Yay, congratulations snowboarder. Welcome to the world, little snowboardlet2.
  21. Blimey ladies! Keef and the boys are brave to join in on this thread... Anecdotal grr - one of my closest friends is a couple of years older than her husband, and went to discuss permanent contraception with her doc. He suggested she could consider a hysterectomy, given she's 40 and positive she wants no more kids. But when she asked whether it wouldn't be a better option (smaller op) for her husband to have a snip instead he umm'd and ahh'd and said he thought the husband might be a bit young and could possibly want to change his mind later. "Presumably" said my friend "with his younger second wife, you mean?".
  22. We bought the buggy and the other family bought the extra high chair and both families hung onto their item once the share was finished. Buggy was 2nd hand and we resold it later, so other than a couple of repair jobs it didn't cost us much.
  23. No time for proper post but very moved by yr story - keep goi g, you obviously love your baby immensely and therefore I'm sure will make her a great mum. I'm all for bf'ing but was raised on formula myself foe similar reasons to yours and am very healthy! Keep posting, let us know how you are
  24. Advertising allows us to see art and media other than that paid for and produced by the government. It's a wonderful thing.
