  1. I have less than no interest in BBW's moral worth or standards, and am extremely irritated to be characterised as some kind of aunty figure who keeps an eye on him. It is also incorrect to imply that a smirky Sorry Miss with a smug wink and a hey, I'm just a bad boy will make it OK. I will not be ignored, and I will not be patronised. My interest is purely in keeping the forum a place where unpleasant racist and pornographic posts are considered unacceptable. Not because of political correctness or prudery, but in order to retain this forum as a place where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. BBW, please edit your posts or I will report them and have them removed.

Understand reluctance to take him to GP but at least you might get some free Calpol?! But do whatever you think best - ear infections that Moosling has had don't seem to have been very serious. Honest answer to 2nd question? For me, around 7 months when he started to sleep through and I started to feel less exhausted and enjoy motherhood, which has the doubly good effect of taking away the guilt of not enjoying it, which one gets the impression one is supposed to do. Stories of other people's wonderful birth experiences, loving the babymoon, enjoying the newborn cuddles stage... well, bless the people who feel that way, but it's certainly not universal. My son is now twoannaquarter and he's just the nicest, funniest, sweetest, most delightful thing God ever made. From about 10 months on, it just got better and better. Good luck, ride it out and don't feel bad!
  3. Don't worry about it, my back is certainly turned.
  4. Some gems from Brendan, PGC and Ted on this thread today. I salute you as one gentleperson (Hon.) to others.
  5. BBW, shut up. That was a horrible post.
  6. It may be that when a non-ED topic arises on which a lot of people feel particularly seriously it will take flight.
  7. "Those who run cricket in this country, especially at the domestic level, are for the most part a self-serving, pusillanimous and self-important bunch of myopic dinosaurs unable to take any but the shortest-term view of everything"

I like chocolate cake very much, although sometimes I think adding the cake is a bit of a waste of time, and I do particularly like the commentary on buses passing the Oval (alternatively, pigeons on the pitch). That said, I too am a bally Colonial.
  9. Yay, Mike's back!
  10. *shivers*
  11. Well fair enough. It's just that I wouldn't want to be hugged by someone who would hug anyone. But each to his own.
  12. Congratulations, Heidi, you must be so glad your lovely son is finally here.
  13. A bit gloomy there, Mockers, I still pop into the Lounge most days for a quick hiya, and it usually makes me smile. Iaineasy, the idea of the invigilator was just to ask someone to ensure that threads stay on topic, as with any formal debate. All the rooms of the EDF are moderated to take out posts that are offensive or duplications or whatever, just usually quietly. And hugs? Really? You're that undiscriminating?
  14. Well, yes, except that I basically said what you said. So you should have said 'What Keef Said - The Return'
  15. Ah, OK - thanks Jezza. Gave me a chance to enjoy the E&C pedestrian tunnel system, at least... :-S
  16. Regarding the various Classified sections, at the moment the oldest post in each section is For Sale - about 20 hours old Wanted - about 49 hours old Local Biz - about 42 hours old. I think this is an improvement, as previously, threads disappeared from the first page incredibly quickly, and got lost. Splitting the family room discussion out from the family classifieds I think is a good thing, and a small community of family room posters, many of whom rarely come into the other discussion rooms, regularly chat and swap advice there. I think that's a real success. If we were to close the Drawing Room, I'd definitely be in favour of creating a Games Room to put all the games or If You Were An Animal What Animal Would You Be list-type threads.
  17. Barry, would you be able to tell us why the 7.29 was cancelled this morning? I appreciate that trains have to be cancelled from time to time but would be nice to understand what happened today. Was a bit unlucky, in that this is the train with the 20 minute delay before the next one, so lots of frustrated commuters this morning.
  18. Definitely sounds like teething, including the going off food. Try not to worry, and personally I'm of the give-them-painkillers camp, as I believe they really do suffer, but of course that has to be up to you. We found teetha did help, although I believe it can only be because of distraction and placebo effect. Teething will come and go in waves, but annoyingly you may not see any teeth in conjunction with the teething phases. I've heard that the teeth moving around in the gum cause the most pain, and the actual cutting of teeth is not as painful. However, ear pulling may be a sign of ear infection, which you might want to get checked out by the GP. Prescription? Calpol! :)
  19. I still get plenty of post that isn't junk mail, or I suppose junk post we should call it in this country. Admittedly a lot of it is bills, which will eventually be delivered only online, but still.

    Travelcard advice

Slightly off topic, but Strawbs I reckon if you get a monthly pass, you're better off once you've factored in going on holiday, or those weekends when you don't travel around.
  21. Er, no. Have been there, though, 'snice. Very flat.
  22. PGC, oh blimey. That would at least explain why on holiday it has that wonderful luminous deep blue.
  23. Doubly clever, then! Thanks, M. le Quids, appreciate it.

Is it the number of the Bat Beast?
  25. Does anyone know why it's called the 'arris? Is it rhyming slang or because it sounds a bit like arse? Also, why is the sky different shades of blue in different parts? I know it's to do with how light diffuses, but that somehow is not satisfying.
