  1. Actually I think it's a giant zorb on the roof.
  2. "why does the 'similar properties nearby' bit show similar prices" the emphasis seems to be on the 'similar properties' rather than the 'nearby', creating the illusion that it's normal!!
  3. hmm, given security restrictions these days I'm guessing most routes could end up blocked. have you thought about hosting it yourself using something like http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/ and keeping your contacts as an xml or csv file or some format like that? Despite draconian restrictions here i had no problem downloading a folder I hosted as a zip file!
  4. I guess this is one of them? http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/29904661
  5. More graphs A statistician called Hilary discovers that Ms Rodham Clinton has renedered her name the most poisoned name in US history. http://hilaryparker.com/2013/01/30/hilary-the-most-poisoned-baby-name-in-us-history/ She also did one on faddish name (witness the mighty growth of the name Colt thanks to the Fall guy) http://flowingdata.com/2013/07/29/the-most-trendy-names-in-us-history/ Would love to see something similar done for the UK. 8. I wasn't a million miles away with the small country coup thing then http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/the-money-dried-up-but-at-least-dubais-celebrity-investors-are-not-left-out-of-pocket-8738682.html
  9. I do think, on balance, things have improved but it's still a pretty cramped bottlenexk in the new office isn't it, epsecially immediately outside. I hope that after the cafe is refurbed an entrance with sensors is retained there. Also surprised there was no Windsor Walk entrance done, I assumed for ages that's what all the work there was about, lost opportunity I reckon. But still.....better.... as for the look, I was musing this morning that it has broken up the elegance of the old view of the station from the platform, but you can't have your cake and eat it. All told I don't mind the aesthetic, especially given the eyesore that is KCH behind it. Poor Johnny, gone....gone...!!! http://farm1.staticflickr.com/162/367987192_13deaaa57c.jpg ye olde lampes, on Flickr
  10. I know you're (depressingly) right AM, but I do find that mentality hard to understand. 20k a year to 40k makes a hug difference. 120k a year to say, 150k can still make a significant difference. 80k a week to 120k a week. I can't see why you'd be swayed. I genuinely can't think of any way to spend money quick enough on 80k a wwek, I mean really, what would you do with it, let alone ANOTHER 40k on top of that. Unless you were saving up for a coup in a small country or something. Or are hair implants REALLY REALLY expensive?!?!
  11. Forgive the suggestion of nipples, this is a hell of a choon. Scottish miserabalist post rock. Actually does that go without saying? Is got hooks, a chorus and a wall of noise.
  12. My life is better. it is better. I stop wanting to hate and kill. Things improved. and some of it bounces...coooooooool
  13. We're looking at a top four finish after signing a lad from Stockport County and beating Borehamwood 3-0 in pre-season. Phew, never have I been quite so excited about a coming season.....*nods off into issue of match with picture of small child captioned as tony cottee*

  15. I watched 'The Impossible' based on the trues story a family who miraculously survived the 2004 tsunami. You can't help but feel manipulated by the film makers as they wring the tears of joy out of you, but hats off, it's a very effective piece of film-making, relatively understated, almost myopic, given the subject matter and with two effortlessly brilliant performances from young Tom 'billy elliot' Holland and Naomi Watts*. *although she seems to have gone to Gwinny's/Renee's voice coach affecting that irrititing middle class nasal twang that doesn't actually exist anywhere and is so close yet so far....
  16. May have to do this on catch up/on demand. I was slumped on the sofa yesterday and watched a strange little show called 'The Booth at the End' Literally every scene is shot at a table in a diner where different people talk to a chap. You make a supernatural deal with him, you ask for something you want and he sets you a task, if you complete it you get your desire granted. It's unclear who he is or indeed who he may work for. After 10 minutes i was thinking 'is this it?' but I was sucked in enough and watched all 5 half hour episodes. It's almost old fashioned story telling, Jackanory or something, as the interwoven strands are recounted to the man in snatches. Weird, but oddly compelling. She said it better than me I did http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2011/apr/12/booth-at-end-lucy-mangan

The Uplands was an improvement, but was pretty awful nonetheless. Actress best incarnation since I got here. It was defeinitely good riddance to the goose and granite(?) Forresters was pretty awful, though I've never really liked the Bishop. I do miss the Lord Palmerston though, and the Mag has never found the right recipe and I was very fond of the old mag.
