  1. "RIP And all that" priceless :-D
  2. Which I actually miss, the Irish still use it though.
  3. I thought ye was plural.
  4. The Rovers Return
  5. You'll need an xbox to hdmi. Problem is older xboxes, like mine, don't have hi-def output. Does it have old skool RGB connections anywhere? (like wot I'm forced to use) or you know the red & white phono connectors and yellow video one?
  6. we should do some game swaps sometime, I'd quite like to do RDR. Not that I've bought a non arcade xbox game for a while mind.....
  7. I'd rather have bamboo slivers under my fingernails than that!!
  8. Aah, he's alright I guess, it's just every time I've seen him interviewed he's so self important and pompous it winds me up. Doesn't necessarily make him wrong, but in this he definitely more or less begged the question with his opening statements. I'm not some apologist for facism, but I think rather too much has been made of it. He's still a working class boy with a difficult background who found solace amidst dubious types whom he still has fond memories of and a sense of belonging, whilst having grown significantly as a human being. We might as well be demanding explicit repudiation of things quids once held dear before all huffing and saying we shouldn't tolerate this sort of thing on the forum until he has done so, perhaps Tudor Touch will withdraw advertising revenue until such a time. All very silly if you ask me, but not so very different.
  9. I can pretty much block everything out, i can even live with headphone tsk tsk, everything except music on the phone speakers. Pass the chainsaw please.
  10. Ooh, and Metro 2033 is on sale for 4 quid on steam. Again its far from perfect, the weapons feel insubstantial, the enemies repetitive, but it's wonderfully evocative and better than the Fallout games for giving you the feel of a post apocalyptic workld (full of flying post human mutants of course!!!)
  11. Ooh, have you gone all PS3 on us? Should i get it or will i get bored of shooting things half way through like in Bioshock? I got Slender: Arrival the other day, an indie purchase probably a little overpriced at a tenner off steam. It's basically a souped up version of slenderman 8 pages with prettier graphics and more levels (the core original game comprising stage 2). I have to say, performace and control issues aside, it is very effective at unnerving you, and if you do the old dark/headphones/late at night thing, quite scary. I had a look at the Marble Hornets shorts on youtube that inspired it. I mean they are shit lets face it, and the slenderman dotted around really does look like a mannequin in a suit and is about as scary as peppa pig, but there is something to be said for it once you've played the game to a point of nerve frazzling. Getting up in the middle of the night for a glass of water suddenly becomes an exercise in spotting things in unexpected pools of light or reflected surfaces, and I have to say even a rubbish mannequin in a suit would have made for proper ploppy pants. If you're sick to death of shooting things then try being in peril without recourse to the left mouse button, worth a look in I reckon.
  12. I'll take the James article with a pinch of salt. For one the man is a complete knob. Err, actually that's more or less it, but it's obviosu he has a personal axe to grind. Shaka Hislop wrote a similar article for the beeb saying he considered and still considers PDC to be his friend, though he could be difficult, supporting James' assertion that the man was spikey but countering his implication that he was universally disliked. I guess, as usual, media storms will blow over once we have some real news to worry about, like you know, the decimation of the welfare state and selling off the NHS and petty stuff like that. Ultimately he'll be judged on results, I'm sure he'll inject some fight into the team, but yesterday show's that probably won't be enough.

  16. How's that novel comin along numbers, you know...the novel you've been workin' on? You know the the one, uh, you've been workin on for three years? You know the novel. Got somethin' new to write about now. You know? Maybe a, maybe a main character gets into a relationship and suffers a little heartbreak? Somethin' like what... what you've just been through? Draw from real life experience? Little, little heartbreak? You know? Work it into the story? Make the characters a little more three dimensional? Little, uh, richer experience for the reader? Make those second hundred pages really keep the reader guessing what's going to happen? Some twists and turns? A little epilogue? Everybody learns that the hero's journey isn't always a happy one? Oh, I look forward to reading it.
  17. A 'friend' of mine is having a joint 40th birthday party in Camden (site chosen for various logisitcal reasons) in June. Can anyone recommend any good venues, probably in the region of 50 to 80 people. I tried the Hawley arms, but their function room is a bit on the small side. All advice welcomed. ....by my friend.
  18. wow, really makes you lose the will to live. Their top three stories are basically 1) tired rehashed Diana speculation 2) Racism is con trick 3) Vic Beckham's tits change size sometimes Classy!!

  22. ha ha, ever the way. I enjoyed aaronovich's voodo histories, which in writing he obviosuly found himself similarly accused. It's the ultimate get out clause that allows CT types to wallow in their own circular logic. This was fun, how Jimmy Page destroyed Eddie and the Hot Rod http://greatwen.com/2013/03/27/jimmy-page-aleister-crowley-and-the-curse-of-eddie-and-the-hot-rods/
  23. straw poll of batshiticity http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2013/04/conspiracy-theory-poll-results-.html
