    Great Gigs

I've a friend who bought too many tickets for Andrew Bird (supported by Micah P Hinson) at the roundhouse on November 8th if anyone is interested. I think about 20 quid a ticket.

'he was like' has sadly more or less supplanted 'he said' amongst the younger demographic and has infected everyone else. I catch myself doing it and I'm like 'nooooooo'.
  5. I didn't think this had anything to do with pressure to look good but, given our society's denial of mortality, a misguided attempt at staving off death. I wouldn't do botox myself, I'm just going to build a large quadrahedral polygonic structure in the back garden and put my belongings in there along with a dead servant or two.
  6. No, I think Silverfox has it. Nick's priorities are at odds with the political mood, rather than the political will, of the country. THe prevailing sense is that it's all turned to shit and something needs to be done. Whilst the majority may werll go 'gay marriage, yeah fair enough' they would probably also wonder why this is absorbing parliament's time and energy whilst the economy is still broken. As for lord's reform I don't think it even makes it on to most people's radar at all, and I agree that it's absolutely a waste of time. Ill thought out reforms are the last thing we need right now.
  7. do you mean upload? There have been a milion threads about how to make pictures smaller for forum use, but here's a useful online resource for doing so http://www.shrinkpictures.com/
  8. Wow, even ice cream can suffer from being too 'commercial'. Good.....grief!!!!!!
  9. We've just done The Killing (us version) as it was free on Virgin and have to say it was excellent. GoT is good, I did three episodes then started again and was much happier and it just keeps getting better. There's just a shed load of characters and setting and intrigue and working out who the bloody hell is who when you start, so the reset worked really well for me.
  10. we embarked on it tonight and both enjoyed it, some good laugh out loud moments, and ~Northern Exposure very much leaptto mind also.
  11. Am loading up the TiVo with it as we speak but only finished the killing last night. May give it a go tonight or may get back to Game of Thrones.
  12. I really should have signed that Sent from my iPad
  13. "[snip] phone doesn't work quite as we'll as some [snip]" Lovely! On the wider point quite agree, it is all very silly, but then people need to obsess over something before middle age and your looming mortality render all that vim and gusto null and void when faced with the utter pointlessness and meaningless of ones own existence and the cosmos' deep indifference to you. That said I hope Steve jobs* burns in hell, or something. *only joking, I meant Tony Blair obviously.
  14. Aaaaah the Bedford. They still owe me a tee-shirt!!
  15. Is there any reason to upgrade to 6 other than the fucked maps, the lack of YouTube and the useless Siri?
  16. Brilliant, so jumped up public schoolboy behaving to type is unconscionable, but being directly complicit in the illegal invasion of a country resulting in at least 50,000 deaths and the indirectly to the worst ethnic cleansing since Rwanda because you couldn't even be bothered to find out if there was a plan beyond "we'll get rid of saddam and then everything will be great" is just quibbling about policies blah blah blah. Fucks sake indeed!
  17. from the frankly marvellous National Office of Importance
  18. I'm not very good at this preparedness stuff. I just bought my brother's (El T?o) 40th birthday present this week. He was 41 in July!!!
  19. I've always suspected Ted Max already is. I reckon Carter might manage it though ;)

  21. You're Furnished is a pretty good bet if you want to save some money (massive selection at exceptionally good prices, though not sure they'd fall into the 'stylish' category), no online presence though, you have to get your arse up to Stansted, and hiring their van to deliver it all is about 70 quid. We saved about 2 grand over london prices when furnishing our flat so well worth it (low overheads you see, it's a massive warehouse in a field tucked behind an unfashionble airport) http://archive.homesandbargains.co.uk/view_listing.php?id=154 Mrs Robinson get some lovely pieces in every now and then. We got a 'stylish' 60s danish leather swivelly armchair thingy a couple of years ago for ?250, though we recently saw an indentical one in there going for ?350, fuel costs huh?
  22. SJ has something of a celebrity doppleganger himself of course...
  23. Career politician in lacks scruples shock. The new labour legacy is one of normalising deceipt as a facet of public service and she was right at the forefront of it. Good riddance.
