  1. As far as I can tell (I understand the fines, althought I think they are unfair) it's yet another f**k up by an ever more inept Premier league. As was said before SU should have won more games if they wanted to avoid relegation.
  2. I'm bound to be wrong here but I may as well wade in. Is this fine (and I believe there is no way that that sort of money will change hands and I think the whole thing will disappear in quiet farce) awarded on the basis of the fact the Tevez shouldn't have been playing, not that he had an undue influence on the outcome of the relgation battle? I thought they were treating it like playing an inelligble player or having an extra player on the pitch i.e. it's not the player themselves but the unfiar advantage gained. Is this not the legal equivalent of the player interferring with play in an offside decision?
  3. CO check out this website Workline. I don't know what line of work you are in but these guys are for media workers but the advice on their website is very good and is applicable across the board. My wife used them when she was pregnant and found them to be very helpful and friendly! Congratualtions and enjoy your pregnancy and the little one!
  4. I am pretty sure that if you have your heart set on something which Halfords don't stock they can order other bikes in for you from other companies through this scheme which might be worth exploring. Check out this thread on a very helpful triathlon/cycling forum I frequent: Thready PX do some great bikes and great deals! If you can't be bothered with that then the Boardman bikes get very good write-ups and are fairly well specced. Trek are a sure bet too (Lance can't be wrong can he?)
  5. I'm with MM. It depends on the light. I have ridden the same route for about 2 years and I know where I can risk it and I know where I can't.
  6. Yes, the USA and Surrey County Council. Don't forget SCC.
  7. I expect we will just merge with City and be done with it.:))
  8. Come on, David's dirty Leeds and he can't help that! (This is tongue in cheek but I also do think Leeds are dirty). I notice Anna didn't come to your defense Declan despite being offended by a 'tongue in cheek' bin dippers reference only a few weeks ago. Liverpool fans have short memories (except when it comes to European cup wins.) Shame about the result on saturday, we were poor but you have to let them one in every five or six just give them hope. ;-)
  9. Nunhead Village! At least that's what the estate agents would have us believe.

  11. Come on Ratty! Sort your priorities out.
  12. Rather frustratingly I shall be on the road in the middle of a 187km cycle ride as we, no doubt, get beaten by Liverpool.

It was The Omen II. Great film...
  14. Obviously Man Utd don't need another striker!
  15. Fair point and you would have thought an Internationally respected manager would know what he was doing. I guess it's just one of those things. The results didn't go your way on the day. Who is to say that they would have won with Torres in the side. There must have been times however, a la Ranieri, when you did think 'huh?', Despite my obvious hatred for anything even close to the Mersey as you know I have the family connections by marriage and they were certainly perplexed at times. Don't get me wrong it happens to me with MU sometimes too (ours tends more to be formation than players in recent years though).
  16. Yes, he did seem to shoot himself in the foot. Chelsea took everyone by suprise I think last year after all the early running by Arsenal. I think Man Utd will struggle this season, I can't see Ronaldo having as good a season and everyone else looks to have upped their game tbh. If Torres really gets it together (and doesn't get dropped for no apparent reason (this is not to say he wasn't great btw)) then the Pool will be ok.
  17. You'll never win it with kids Keef? Someone else said that once....
  18. That's an interesting idea Bob. They both have very similar careers so it's worth comparing their honours. William Gallas honours: With Caen Ligue 2 Championship Winner 1995-96 With Chelsea FA Premier League Winner 2004-05, 2005-06 Football League Cup 2005 Community Shield 2005 F.A Cup Runner Up 2002 With Arsenal League Cup Runners-Up 2007 Mikael Silvestre honours: Manchester United Premier League Winner (4): 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2002-03, 2006-07 Runner-up (1): 2005-06 FA Cup Winner (1): 2004 Runner-up (2): 2005, 2007 Football League Cup Winner (1): 2006 Runner-up (1): 2003 FA Community Shield Winner (2): 2003, 2007 Runner-up (3): 2000, 2001, 2004 UEFA Champions League Winner (1): 2008 Intercontinental Cup Winner (1): 1999 I can't understand why we'd sell him to Arsenal. But I guess Fergie knows best. I see there's talk of Forlan to Spurs. Who wants to bet he scores his first hattrick against Man Utd?
  19. Don't forget 'you mug'! Anna, as far as 'bin dippers' goes , I have only ever heard of it being used in connection with Liverpool football fans. I was not disparaging the whole of Liverpool. I saw what happened to Boris Johnson.
  20. Jah, Surely resorting to effectively calling Rio Ferdiand a stupid idiot is resorting to lame stereotypes, as is the use (liberally here) of Manure etc. I'm just giving as good as I get. Anyway, I'm sure JT will make a great captain. He is passionate and strong and I believe that they are two valuable assets. I think, given time, Rio would make a good captain for England too. I think it's a shame that SG isn't considered anymore but I think in actual fact he is more useful in a Beckham style 'pull 'em up by their bootlaces and show 'em how it's done' role for when the rest of the team (as is inevitable) disappear on the big night.
  21. I can take it Anna. Would you prefer 'hubcap stealers'? :))
  22. Piers, when did I claim the high ground, moral or otherwise? Players like Butt, Neville,P etc. are still adored at the club and were sold as surplus to requirements (and before you say it, yes Beckham as well) they didn't leave because they weren't being paid enough. As far as Ronaldo goes I don't think he's got the right to be metioned in the same breath as the other two, he will have to be very special this season to make up for his shenanigans. I just object to certain Scousers who take every post as an opportunity to have a dig at United. Perhaps if they spent more time thinking about the failings of their own team and less time trying to put down the most successful team in Britain for the last 15 years they might have more chance of winning the league. Jealoulsy is a terrible thing.
  23. Terry is the man!
  24. Glad you spotted it Anna! ;-) I thought he was Liverpool through and through. Surely putting in a transfer request to get yourself more money out of the club 'you'd die for' is a little on the snide side? Never happened with Giggs or Scholes...
  25. Annasfield Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So who's going to be the new England captain?
