  1. We can get 3 across the middle seat of our touran, currently have a maxi cosi Tobi, priori xp and isofix pearl, it's tight but just works
  2. Sympathies as it is hard. My toddler, over drawing at this age which was great, hopefully stickers will be soon an option as they are easy to help with one handed too if required. Tv which worked for us was for a nursery rhyme/action song DVD as I could sing along without toddler but still feel as though I was managing to interact.
  3. Thank you for the responses so helpful. I think it feels like a massive step even considering a change. if we can secure a nursery place for our 3 yo I think we will change to that with a nanny. Sounds like some people have had great experiences with this setup...
  4. We have an 18 mo and 3 yo who are currently established happily in a work based nursery. We are lucky that I can walk to/from nursery for drop offs etc which I do all of. currently we leave at 7:15 and get in just after 5 then straight in for dinner bath then bed. I work 4 days a week. I can't decide whether this is the best solution or whether a nanny with 1/2 days nursery for 3 yo would be a better option, any thoughts? We live in constant fear of the kids being sick and one of us needing to take time off work. I feel bad turfing the children out of the house so early in the morning for a long day and I'm knackered by the time I get home too so no one is really at their best. Anyone done the switch from nursery to nanny? Many thanks in advance
  5. Have recommended before but gladwins farm (suffolk) fits the bill well, if you call you often get a lower price than on website if its off season. They are flexible about number of nights etc too. Play barn and indoor pool on site for rainier days, outdoor play bits, animals to feed etc too. http://www.gladwinsfarm.co.uk/
  6. Fuschia you need one of these http://www.completecareshop.co.uk/kitchen-aids/food-preparation-aids/kitchen-spread-board/
  7. We found Nicola really helpful with both of our children. I think you can do it by yourself but she really helped reassure us about some of anxieties. I think as a couple we were both much more committed to the sleep plan once we had committed financially to it. Nicola also talks through all of the different options and then designs a plan specific to your own needs. She was really pragmatic too and appreciated the needs of our first son in getting the second to sleep I.e. napping in buggy, looking at overall sleep during day with a flexible approach. She very quickly diagnosed a suck to sleep association for our second son who was waking ever 40 mins day and night, at that point I was pretty much incapable of implementing anything on my own let alone reading the options and following them...
  8. For hoping them on and off I find my Hipseat really helpful, not great for really long distances. Love my ergo and don't mind the hip carrying but it is a faff.
  9. A friend of ours is expecting twins in October, she would like some post natal help and thought a doula would be ideal. She's struggling to find one though anybody have any personal recommendations? What should she expect to be paying? Thanks
  10. We tried cranial osteopathy with spectacular results, screaming upset evenings with up to a week between movements to daily within 1 treatment....
  11. This time of year can be tricky for eczema sufferers, for us lots of water play and sun cream cause flare ups. We bath every day in emollient avoid showers as much as possible, cream twice a day top to toe, use a soap substitute and no bubble baths etc at all. If you need to use some hydrocortisone to get on top of he flare ups then don't feel bad, it is very effective at breaking a cycle of dry itchy skin which then gets scratched, itched and drier. We rarely need to use it now that we are on a maintenance programme and only need to when he gets ill or spends too much time in showers etc. all of our creams etc are on prescription and have seen community dermatology nurse who was vrey helpful, good luck.
  12. We saw David atherton and found him to be excellent.
  13. Re doubles I think it depends how you will be using it. We did really well for short journeys with a buggy board for our 20 mo and newborn, but now they are 14 mo and 2 y 10 I wouldn't be without our phil and teds, need to get them both in for the 20min walk to nursery every day. I coveted a mountain buggy duet but think the side by side setup wouldn't have been great for us (would still be my buggy of choice if I ever had twins though!)
  14. I've been invited to provide some feedback to our nursery. I've a good idea of some bits that could do with a brush up but limited experience of other nurseries. Any examples of little things your nursery does which you think are great?
  15. We stayed in a family friendly cottage setup n Suffolk earlier in the year and they had the following on offer; Travel cot (no bedding provided)Highchair Booster seatChanging mat SteriliserBaby bath Baby bath supportBumbo seat BouncerMonitor Bed guardStep up stool They also had cook meals available on site and a small shop type setup with honesty box which worked well. They had outside toy tractors, basic garden climbing frames and a really useful indoor play barn, might be a bit bigger than you're looking for but very helpful nonetheless. Have you tried a browse through babyfriendlyboltholes for ideas on what others offer? Sounds like a great plan, we are more of the cabin stayers than yurt ones but I know plenty of people who'd love a yurt too. Good luck
  16. We were dubious about them thinking we'd have to carry another bit of luggage but actually was great for our 2 1/2 yo, he fell off a couple of times but thought that was hilarious and loved being pulled along, it was much quicker than walking with him would have been. We packed it light though so it only had his bits for the plane in it, will definitely use on next trip.
  17. I have a cameleon which I love, very sturdy, baby sits v well in it so does older one, baby comfortable in bassinet bit as well as seat but annoying not to be able to sit toddler in the bassinet and sling baby when toddler was tired. Bee plus flexible between toddler and baby, don't like the support for baby on sitting, great fold though into boot of car and good with car seat adapters for quick in/out of nursery drop offs. Buggy board works well on both Baby didn't sleep that well in bee but to be honest doesn't sleep well anywhere other than a cot these days...
  18. Unintentional for us but yes very possible. Periods hasn't returned, still feeding during day, possibly night I can't remember, and only did a test as I felt sick all the time, was nearly 10 weeks before we realised...
  19. Monniemae we had exactly the same with our 6 mo, he was waking every 40 mins when I finally cracked and took advice from Nic again (having used her very successfully for our older son when he was 15mo). We implemented a plan at 7mo and he was sleeping 7-7 within a week, in his own cot, broke the suck to sleep, co sleeping we had established. Within a fortnight he was napping consistently for good length naps in his cot too, changed our lives....
  20. We have 2 children at the WEC and are happy with them being there, they are happy and sociable and well looked after. For us having somewhere so convenient for pick up and drop off does make a big difference, the hours of the kings nurseries are good and the fees are reasonable too. The salary sacrifice scheme is worth doing financially. I don't know much about mapother, I have colleagues with children there who are happy, also have colleagues who weren't happy there. Their concerns have mostly been around the staff:children ratios which are to always at the level they should be, staff from the WEC occasionally go over to cover mapother/belgrave. I think it will depend on your feeling, it's always difficult when leaving your child somewhere, are you able to put a finger on what you weren't happy with?
  21. I am meeting some friends from Cambridge this week, half way for both of us looks like Hertfordshire, completely out of my local knowledge on what to do with the kids though, we will have 5 children under 5 between us. Any ideas? Thanks
  22. We use sunsense too which seems to be tolerated pretty well but our son is flaring a bit more now than he has been, it's the heat mainly for him that does it. Cool baths with emollient also help as does upping general moisturiser use.
  23. It's worth calling them, we had an 8 night stay in 3 bed cottage for ?600 I think, it was off season but still great.
  24. We love it there, been twice, perfect both times...
