Well, you have to pay them lots to do it, and they don't follow you home afterwards and make you put out the bin bags, but other than that, it's not a dissimilar role.

A personal shopper is someone who takes you clothes shopping and produces a fabulous and groovy new you by dressing you in a fabulous and groovy way. Depending on the shopper of course. They might actually produce a troll in baggy knickers but that's not usually the look they go for. Kind of Trinny and Susannah but, well, nice.

Couldn't agree more. With an attitude like that it isn't going to take him long to bump into someone who shows his face the pavement in a none too gentle fashion.

Tiddles - ideally they do indeed like to peck around and I give mine at least 2-3 hours a day outside of the run in my garden. But my garden has very high fences and is completely dog proof which means that foxes can't sneak under the fence and drag away a chicken, which is their preferred way. In my garden they have to jump over and show themselves, and then carry the chook back over the fence which they can (and probably would) do, but don't seem to so readily. They prefer to sneak up unnoticed and grab one from under a fence. Plus we have a dog, as does the neighbour who backs on to our garden, so our garden smells of dog, which tends to keep them at bay. We have our Eglu on woodchip, they will definitely trash the lawn, unless you have a big enough lawn to move it weekly and keep it off a used patch for a good few weeks till it has recovered. I never let them out the run unless I am in the house, and at this time of year I don't let them out till about 12.30 and put them back in by 3 or 3.30. So if you can fox proof you fences a bit as I describe, and be careful and vigilant, you will probably be ok, though it's not a certainty. Eglu say they would be fine in a run permanently as long as they have grass and somewhere to have a dust bath. As a possible alternative you could get two bantams which are much smaller, and would probably be fine just in a run, and maybe going out into the garden when you are out there with them. They are brilliant company, mine follow me around the garden and go nuts for a slice of brown bread, and we have more fresh eggs than we can use. The kids love them too.

Baby beagle no 1 is called Beatrice, so I'll second that as a choice. But I also thought about Esther and Alice (though I could never choose Alice cos every time I meantioned it Mr Beagle would shout "Alice? Alice? Who the fcuk is Alice?!!!" which was, by his expression at any rate, the funniest thing he had heard in a quite a while.)

Book some cookery/wine tasting/piano/riding/race track driving/hot air ballooning/whatever blows your hair back lessons and learn that new thing you've always thought you'd enjoy. Then book a personal shopper and a haircut and reveal the sexy new you just in time to meet Daizie at the EDF drinks.

How funny. We have two chickens. They are also called Barbara and Margot. They also live in an Eglu!

A boon, yes, but tread carefully HB. They do folding and square colanders. A chap could make a grave error if purchasing without due thought.

Brendan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A chap misses one edition of Chopping Board > Monthly and this is what happens. I know I know. It seems harsh. But if you want the very latest in polypropylene living hinges you really can't afford to lose focus, even for a month.

Sorry Brendan, I'm not trying to make you feel bad. But you know what they say. You snooze you lose.

HB - I have done some investigating for you and have discovered the chop2pot chopping board. It uses the latest technology in polypropylene living hinges, and when the handle is squeezed the board folds into a chute to guide chopped and diced ingredients into the pot. It's made by Joseph x2 as well and costs ?14.95. Is this is the one you bought? Readers deserve to know!

After declaring an interest because I help run it, how about Green & Blue? I think we have a nice vibe, music but not loud, wine is not too pricey IMO, all seating so easy to chat and no being pushed about at the bar, lots of nice food to nibble. If it is a weekend you will need to book though. We do seem to have more female than male customers so its obviously a hit with the ladies!

Again very good effort Brendan! A-. It was in fact: "If the guy is obviously guilty, can we just skip the trial and send him straight to prison under early admission?"

I'll leave you with this one: Si reus manifesto sit in culpa, sitne fas nos quaestionem praetereuntes condemnatum in carcerem confestim conicere per admissionem subitariam?

B Plus Brendan, very good effort: Some say Latin is a dead language.

Lots of good advice so far, and much to think about. But also remember 'bout now, there is no right answer. You can only do your best with the hand you've been dealt. Be kind to yourself. If you act from the heart, and with the best of intentions, then whatever the outcome, you have done "the right thing".
